A Place to Cry

“You are a witch.”

His words echo in her ears, making her mind fuzzy. She is not sure how to address this secret which she had kept to herself for so many years. Now that it is out in the open, she is confused and scared.

Dmitri is still playing with her fingers. She wants to pull her hand away but for some reason her heart is at odds with her head and her body is following her heart. His touch keeps her frozen to her spot, letting him playfully touch her to his heart’s desire. It is a dangerous desire.

“I am still waiting for an answer,” he reminds her.

Roseanne is still hesitant to speak. Dmitri notices her reluctance and grasps her palm firmly.

“In Sloria, we do not discriminate, Rosie,” he reminds her. “Whoever you are, whatever you are, as long as you want to live, you can stay here without any fear. This is the place where you will get help. I know how to help you but I have to listen to your story first. Tell me, Roseanne. Are you a witch?”
