CHAPTER 42

A FEW MONTHS LATER

Women of all ages were making a lot of noise, talking, laughing, and fighting with one another. This was a common occurrence in this location.

As she observed the ladies dressed in the bright yellow overalls, Vanity shook her head. This was her first visit to a prison, and she had no idea that the people inside would be so carefree while others were so miserable.

The warden led her to his office, where she would meet with someone, she had known for six years. She was curious about how she was doing. She just wanted someone to answer her questions and then leave her alone.

“You can take your time and call me if you need something,” the older man said, and she politely smiled at him, “be free, there is no surveillance.”

Before leaving her to enter the office, the man informed her. She took a deep breath before opening the door and walking in. She smiled as she looked over at the woman sitting in one of the chairs.
