"Hi I'm Haity." Haity tried to break the ice with the woman staring at her in confusion.
"Haity this is my wife Kirat. Kirat Haity needs to use the restroom and there is a huge line here so I was going to show her our's."
"Only if it's fine with you." Haity requested.
"Of course it's fine. Haity we have some urgency here, will you please find the way. Just go right from top and it's third room, there. With wall hanging." Kirat pointed at the direction of their room on the floor above.
.
"I'm sorry we have to hurry."
"No that's perfectly alright. Thank you." Haity said and climbed up the stairs as Hiram and Kirat left hurriedly in the opposite direction.
Haity turned right from the top of the stairs, hallway was creepily empty as Haity made her way to the room directed by Kirat. Through the bars of railings, she noticed Sahil talking to some of the guests in the hall and then they all stared laughing altogether.
Since she met Sahil in the middle of the party, thinking about him seemed inevitable. As her lie to Maira seen unshakable, out of everything Sahil was, he wasn't immature.
Haity could feel herself falling for this unwanted relationship and who could complain, she was a confident mature woman with her own desires.
Haity laughed at the thought, ridiculing herself.
Damn it Haity, he's just 23 and you are better of single than be with a boy who was out with his friends at the time of his own birthday party. His carelessness might hurt anyone beyond repair. Stear clear.
After giving a perp talk to herself, she entered the designated room. Two windows outlooking the back area with pool and garden were the best idea of architecture, Haity realised she could stand the for hours as the gentle cold air strikes her cheek but with her bladder bursting, she had to leave that heaven.
No to mention, permission to enter this room was given only for the emergency.
Washroom turned out to be bigger than one of her rooms along with beautiful interior and she felt guilty for peeing in it.
As Haity stepped out of the room, a woman's voice startled her.
"Excuse me?" She turned to see a young, no more than 18 years old, well dressed and clean sparkling make up, come towards her from the other end of the room.
"Um...hi... I was just using the washroom." Haity said, smiling awkwardly.
"Isn't there a washroom for guests down there?"
"You're right but it was all occupied and had a huge queue in front so—"
"So you came up here and invaded any room without consent of the owner."
"No, no I —"
"Who even invited you here?"
Haity was having hard time to come up with word to expain the situation. Tanya was obviously a big headed rich, stubborn teenager and she can't break the ice with her so easy.
"Would you listen to me? Hiram and Kirat, those who, this room belongs to, they permitted me.
"How do you know my parent? Impossible they would be friends with you."
"Listen kid— I don't need to drag this." Haity gave up the futile conversation and turned to leave.
"Tanya what's happening? Haity?" Sahil came frowning and stood before them, looking from one to another, trying guess the situation.
"I was just leaving."
"Wait Haity, are you okay?"
"I'm fine Sahil."
"Sahil you know her?" Tanya asked.
Tension was thick among the three as they stood face to face, gaping at each other.
"I'm guessing you two got onto the wrong foot. I will do the introduction.
"Tanya this is Haity, Haity is our guest and Haity, this is Tanya, my cousin."
"She was in Mom and Dad's room, alone." Tanya lashed out.
"Or is there someone else too." She peaked into the room.
"I'm going to say this one final time. Your parent asked me to use this washroom since the guests one was all filled." This being said, Haity walked away fuming.
She could hear Sahil calling out her name but she was too infuriated to turn back.
By the time she reached the foot of the steps, Sahil caught up with her.
"Hey your friend left."
Listening to this, Haity turned abruptly, glaring at Sahil.
"Is this a joke?"
"No. Your friend Maira had some emergency at home and she couldn't find you so I told her that I'll inform you."
"What emergency? Is everyone alright?"
"I don't know, I think something happened to her kid."
Haity's expression turned from serious to worried in a instant.
"What? How?"
"I know nothing."
"I have to call her. Thanks for inform."
Haity hurried off towards the exit and stepped out of the house and ran towards the front iron gates, meanwhile she dialled Maira.
"Maira what happened? Who's hurt?"
"Eir dislocated her shoulder. I'm sorry Haity I had to leave you there, Aditya wasn't home either. I'm taking her to hospital."
"It's fine Maira. Do you need me there?"
"No Haity, it'll be fine, don't worry."
"Okay see you."
She was now out on the road, waiting for some random taxi but the rush of vehicles was too much to notice one or be noticed by.
Finally Haity decided to call an Uber.
Today was one mess of a day for Haity, she didn't expect to have such a drama at the party of complete strangers but here she was, standing at the side of road waiting for her ride, wearing strapless bold red gown in not so warm weather.
"Hola." A soft blow of air near her collarbone startled her and she shifted to see a smiling Sahil.
"Why are you not at you party?"
"It's 11:00 pm, my mother's parties rarely go beyond 3 hours so consider it almost over."
That's when Haity noticed that guests were already leaving.
"Your mother must be a punctual woman then."
"She is I'm sure. What are you waiting for here?"
"My ride."
"Partner? Soulmate?" This made Haity laugh.
"I like the way you think but no. I called Uber."
"Really? What do you think I'm thinking now?" Sahil asked with a challenging look.
"You are building up tactics to woo me, I don't know your motive behind that, maybe just to show off how easy it is for you to nail woman of every age group or to finish a dare your friends gave you but definitely not genuine." Sahil gaped at this revelation in shock as Haity smiled pursing her lips together.
"It's not true."
"You know it is Sahil. I'm not precise but I'm close. You know I'm 35 and you are not the first of your kind that I'm coming across."
This plucked a nerve somewhere deep inside him. Agitated, Sahil closed the distance between them and spoke into her ear.
"I don't care what world think of me but to you, Ms. Haity, I'll prove that I'm the only one of my kind."
With a burning touch on her upper arm, he turned and left smirking, while Haity stood there in confusion.
Maybe she did misinterpreted Sahil.
