With every step taken towards Haity, Sahil could feel his head going light and easy, when in the earshot, he yelled dramatically with a loud laugh,
"Aye Haity."
Haity and Roy turned to him, Haity narrowed her eyes as the strand of her brown hair crawled on her shoulder towards the upper arm. With dull green painted lips pursed together and sparkly silver earing waving low on her earlobe as she tilted her head, suspicions were crawling up her brain.
"Sahil? What are you doing here?" Asked Haity.
"I was gonna leave but I saw you and couldn't help saying hello."
"Hello Sahil, we were going in - and you are clearly drunk."
"Thid is rude Haity. Aren't you gonna introduce?"
"Um...Roy this is Sahil, Maira's boss's son and Sahil, this is Roy."
"I'm sorry, Roy who?"
"I'm her date tonight young man." Ray interrupted in between and Sahil gave him a subtle raged look before getting back to smiley boy.
"Woah there you go, wasn't so hard." Haity was not having any of his nonsense and glared as an indication to leave them alone but Sahil was as crazy and stubborn with his multiple drinks.
"You know what? I'm going to skip the cab and join you guys for more drinks and head home with you two, in your car." Sahil continued further infuriating Haity.
"Enough Sahil, I've had enough of your immaturity and now you are calling the cab and going back home at this very moment. You got that?" Haity lost her cool and Sahil's expression changed to dead serious.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you two, and will for sure regret this attitude in the morning but as you can see I'm drunk so -"
Sahil turned to leave with grim face, but suddenly looked back at Haity and Roy with a cunning smile, "Good personality, nice suit, composed texture, but, he's not for you."
"Sahil get out of here this is the last warning or I'm calling the police."
"Okay pineapple, chill." And he finally walked out of the parking and their sight.
"Roy I'm sorry for that. He's a little messed today otherwise I have always seen him calm and sophisticated."
"A human show their truest feeling when drunk. Haity, I think he really likes you."
"Even if he do like me Ray, this is no way to show it and don't tell me not to be angry at him I'm freaking mad."
"Sure. Let's forget that and not spoil our evening any more. Shall we?" Ray gave his hand to Haity that she took with a genuine smile and they walked inside the bar. Despite pretending to forget the scenario with Sahil, Haity was still boiling red with anger and vowed to not give him any more benefit of doubt.
Next morning, Sahil woke up with brain eating headache. Spread across his bed like a blanket himself, he had no idea of time. Looking at the clock on nightstand, it was almost 11:00 am, he got up slowly rubbing his head and found a letter on the bedside.
Trying to focus on the blurred alphabets in front for a minute, he read out the letter from Ronny, that said,
You came home drunk last night,
Can't wait to hear the complete story.
I'm off to work, catch up later.
- Ronny
Sahil placed the letter back on the stand and with great efforts, lifted himself up and away from his king sized bed.
With another streatch of yawn, he remembered why he was drunk.
"Oh shit. What did I do?" He immediately dialled Kartik.
"What's up bud?" Kartik, on contrary, sounded all energetic and awake.
"You are the worst friend in entire history of friendships."
"Dude, you won't say that if you knew who I hooked up with."
"You left me at the bar, you have any idea about what I did?"
"Tell me more. No, let me guess, you did it with a random chick in the parking lot or had a row in the bar."
"It is a parking lot story but nothing what you said happened."
"Then? My guesses are over." Kartik said with a sigh.
"Where are you?"
"I'm at work, being computer geek. Why?"
"Nothing, I just really messed up with Haity. Last night I saw her with someone else and silly drunk me just lost it."
"Sorry man, what can I do?"
"Can you get her home address somehow?"
"Consider it done but, just being curious, why don't you go to her workplace and apologise?"
"I want it to be personal and genuine."
"Won't she be freaked out that you have been stalking her?"
"Not if my plan goes well. Send me the address, I'll head to work."
"Sure thing. See ya."
After hanging up, as said, he went straight to the bathroom and came out twenty minutes later. Hair dripping and towel wrapped around his torso, Sahil looked out the window of their fifth floor apartment. View of clear and continuous sky was a hard deal with tens of the similar building surrounding theirs, each one with almost twenty to thirty flats.
Staring out at passing vehicles and people, Sahil once again went through the strategy he planned to apologise to Haity in her house and not appear creepy at the same time.
Suddenly, the doorbell of his house went off, pulling him out of the daze.
It rang again.
"Coming." Sahil yelled from the hall as he approached the door.
"Got some chill-?" He froze in between, out of everyone in the world, he would never imagine the person currently standing in front of him, to be there."
"Can I come in? Sahil."
"Haity you? I'm sorry. Of course. Come in please." Sahil gestured for her to enter. Contrary to last night, she was now in casual baggy pants and green tank top, hair tied in messy bun and rose colour lipstick smeared on lips.
Sahil rushed inside his room and hastily put on a random shirt and lower.
He went out to see Haity looking around his fairly organised and scanty clean apartment, all credits to Ronny.
"You like?"
"What? This apartment?"
To this, Sahil nodded.
"Sure it's not as messed as my last night go."
"I was going to apologise for that I'm so sorry, I know there's no excuse for that but I would still expect forgiveness."
"Sahil that's what I came to talk to you about. I talked to your mother and she gave me this address so that we can figure it out."
"What? You talked to my mum." Sahil was shocked at this revelation. He didn't realise Haity would take such a drastic step for what he did, even though he accepted, what he did was no less drastic.
