Shocker

"No worries Figsy. See you soon." Haity ended the call and walked towards Maira who was busy tapping keys on laptop.

"Its me, you, Noor, Ishi, Mia and Palak then. Figsy isn't free for now." She announced for Maira, settling on the soft red mattress, squeezing it further in while Maira kept hitting the keys on the device.

"You know I'm going to head home now, do the packing and make some call for work. See you in a couple of hours." Maira said giving a thumbs up, shut down the laptop and sprinted out of the room.

"Alrighty. See you. Don't forget your file."

______

It was the peak of afternoon of a normal summer day and Haity was sitting in her front yard with one green trolley bag and and a black hand bag by her side. While soaking sun with eyes closed, in white summer dress and yellow hat, she had no track of what was going on around the house.

Suddenly she heard the sound of front iron gates opening but didn't budged from her relaxed position, assuming it to be her friends.

"I was having so much fun by myself, you came in wrong time." She said without opening her eyes or taking off the hat laying on her face.

"Trust me I don't want to be here any more than I have to." A weirdly familiar voice startled her out of comfort mood as she jumped up.

"You- why would you scare me like that Mia?" Haity took a deep breath as she growled at the tall tanned, Victoria secret model like woman in front with bob cut hair and long manicured fingernails.

"How was my deep voice?" Mia asked settling on the chair on the other side of the tiled table.

"Scared the crap out of me."

"Ishi is not in her right mind, I'm telling you already."

"Why? What happened now?"

"She was flirting with that ass of your neighbour. That cop."

"Subham?"

"Yes the one you said has hots for you, they are at that corner turn, she hoped off the car there. He is kind of hot though."

"No Mia, he's not hot, he's a dirty cop. I'll go and check, I'll talk to her." Haity, with the jet like speedy, crossed the yard and walked out of the front iron doors, visibly fuming.

Haity walked past the small, visibly old houses build on either side of the streets, she could feel the temperature within herself rising by every step. Towards the end of the lane, a small murmur and giggling hit her ears, following which led to the people with exactly opposite feels in her eyes.

"Ishi? Can I talk to you for a sec." She said approaching closer to the two. Both of them turned to her, still smile spread on their faces. Without any level of force she could promise that this was the most genuine smile she's ever been graced with by Subham.

"I need to talk to you too Haity but in the presence of Subham and our other friends." Ishi, the average height, red haired woman in her late 20s, blurted out before Haity could drag her away by handful of balloon sleeves.

"What? That doesn't make any sense, I have to talk to you first regarding all this talking to my enemy."

"No love, not enemy, now he's your friend's friend, so your friend by default."

"He will never be my friend Ishi. You know he hits on me every chance possible."

"I know he liked you but it's in past and you still haven't heard why we became friends so k-"

"I don't need to Ishi, I should not be obliged to listen to anything related to him. I can't bear to be around him, no ways possible."

"Oh my god calm down Haity. What has he even done to you? Just a mild crush."

"Hey hey guys, can we go inside the house. You don't want to create a scene here, do you?" Subham interrupted them, gaining a look of intense heat from Haity but Ishi nodded and walked off.

Haity followed close behind her friend and Subham waited for a few seconds before taking the same path.

Ishi pushed open the front iron doors of Haity's house and barged inside with a grim face.

"Don't tell me you two boiled up on each other over that ass." Mia said getting up from the chair.

"Ishi I'm sorry I should not have gotten so angry at you. I'm really sorry." Haity said without waiting for Ishi restart the conversation she so much wanted to end.

"Haity you got to listen to me okay?"

"Sure, tell me but dont expect me to get along with Subham."

"He saved my life." Ishi said, shocking both Haity and Mia.

"What? How? I mean when? Tell me everything."

"Yestersdy morning I was on my way to clinic and stopped to grab coffee when an old client of mine attacked me. It was pretty nasty and I was really scared but Subham came in on time." Ishi took a deep breath before continuing, "He was- I mean he saved my life love, you got to understand that."

Haity sensed the emotional unstable state of Ishi in the moment and refrained from saying anything that might trigger the breakdown.

"I'm sorry for coming at you so strong. I should have listened to you."

"But Haity he-" Mia started to speak but Haity interrupted in between.

"We can talk later, let's not spoil our moods for now. I'll call Maira, see where she is." Haity left the two staring at each other, in the center of her front yard and walked to the corner, fumbling with her mobile phone.

"Maira how long?"

"I'm almost around the corner, will be there in a couple of minute. Are Ishi and Mia there?"

"Yep."

"You sound like a dead body. What's wrong?

"Nothing. We are waiting for you." Haity ended the call immediately, not wanting to give away more than she already had. Even though she was sure that Maira must have guessed something shaky with her voice and demeanor, she was in no mood to discuss Subham with anyone else for then and spoil the trip before it starts.

"She'll be here in a few minutes." Haity announced for Mia and Ishi.

"Haity I know it's going to be hard for you to accept it but Subham is a good guy."

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Mia sighed while Haity just slumped down on the chair.

"Haity you have to tell me we are fine." Ishi bend down before Haity and held her hand tight with pleading eyes.

"We are fine Ishi and yes I can't bare to be around that man but I'll not leave you with him alone as well. I'm gonna look out for you till I can trust him."

"I can take that. I'll have that. Thank you so much love."
