Chapter 1

Raine's POV

Today was a Friday and I had to spend it all in a greasy diner trying to survive. I woke up at 8 o'clock with the enthusiasm of a prisoner who has been sentenced to death, but it's understandable since I'm going to deal with a bunch of obnoxious people for more than six hours, my job sucks.

I take a quick bath and comb my curly hair and moisturize my chocolate skin. I then put on the ugliest uniform ever. A baggy blue t-shirt and a deep red skirt, shudder. I walk to my job cause I don't like wasting my money besides it's only fifteen minutes away. I greet Greta, the 25-year-old who seems to have been working here forever.

"Hi Greta, I'm late again, ain't I?" I ask with a nervous smile on my face.

"Surprisingly no" She replies with a small smile. We aren't friends, but we try to be civil.

I start doing what I am supposed to do which is cleaning the tables and replacing old table cloths with new ones. Immediately as I was done my boss who is just two years older than me called us all to discuss some things which were going to change. She does this every month, sigh.

I mean, yeah I understand that I come late, but can't she at least give me a break. No one is even here when I come anyway, but I can't tell her that. She is a genuinely nice person and I need this job. So I decide to make an extra effort to come earlier. There goes my extra fifteen minutes of sleep, Yay. After she finishes talking about my problem, she moves onto the other employees, Chantel, Drake, and Alia. Meanwhile, I just keep praying she is going to say something about increasing our pay or at least changing the uniform, but as usual luck is not on my side.

After fifteen minutes people start coming in, this place is probably the busiest diner in town thanks to Drake's awesome cooking. Someone called me to take her order, she was a pretty young lady who often came here, she was nice and left a big tip. When I served her what she ordered I heard an ugly, greasy 15-year-old yelling at me

"Hey lazy, I've been here for 2 years already"

I then put on my 'I wish I could kill you but I can't smile' and said in my head, 'Too bad poisoning people is illegal now.' The day moved by fast because I was used to the same routine every day.

Soon it was closing time and time to have some fun with my two closest friends in the world, Claudia, a beautiful party obsessed Latina, and Angela, the smartest bitch in the game. She won't be happy I called her a bitch, but she will forgive me.

I walked to Claudy's house because of course, I won't use my damn money to pay for a taxi. I got there and as usual, I saw Angie there and they were doing their makeup. I didn't knock on the door and I didn't greet them when I entered, they were family after all.

"Hey you're here Raine," said Claudy.

"You're late again," said Angie.

"Why don't you just board a fucking taxi?" Claudia said.

"Me? Have you ever seen me boarding a taxi? I have important things to do with my money." I said while sticking my tongue out like a kid.

"Whatever you say, Raine," said Angie pushing up her glasses.

"Come over here and let's get your makeup done," said Claudy, who very much understood how I lived my life. We went to our usual club Pink Panther, the place was full, there was a long line but Claudy awesome as she is got us in. We ordered some beer and after getting a little drunk we got up to dance. Everyone's eyes were on us because yeah, who wouldn't want to watch three gorgeous ladies having fun, what I have confidence? Of course, there were those weird guys looking at us as like creeps, but we didn't give a flying pube about them.

It was 2 o'clock, we were standing outside aimlessly because we didn't know who the heck was gonna take us home.

Fortunately for us, we met up with Greta and her boyfriend who called up a taxi for us. The next day we all woke up in Claudy's house, extremely hungover and puking our guts out. I love my friends.
