Chapter 12 : A confession (part 3)

This chapter continues as Sarah and Zet went looking for Kipo who is unconscious in an unknown place for the three of them.

Sarah: hey Zet.....I want to ask you something?

Zet: hm?

Sarah: why are you helping me through all of this?

Zet: I'm not helping you specifically.....I'm helping Kipo.....she obviously needs help that she will never ask for.

Sarah: are you sure it's not for me and you are using Kipo as a cover?

Zet: oh yeah you're right .....you are absolutely right!

Sarah: you're being sarcastic aren't you?

Zet: right again.....you're good at this!

Sarah: fine I'll stop...

Zet: look....what we had between us is done.....so please...just move on.

Sarah: anyways.....what do I do when I find Kipo ?.....what should I tell her?

Zet: if you want to succeed with her then I shouldn't tell you what to do.....you have to figure it out yourself.....after all...you know her way more than I do.

Sarah then sighed, she was not prepared for this, she was worried about making the wrong moves with Kipo, she was left with no choice but to improvise.

After a long walk, they started calling Kipo's name, they were close to her, but they did not know how close they were to her neither the fact that she can't hear them.

Sarah: Zet....fly up and get more visual.

Zet then started to gather his power from nothingness, which in return hurt him a little, but it was an emergency, he must do it.

Zet: I can see her!

Zet then landed with a worried face.

Sarah: is she ok?

Zet: follow me....fast!

Sarah and Zet then ran as fast as they could, when they reached there they were worried so much.

Sarah: Kipo!

Sarah then immediately checked Kipo's heartbeat, while Zet flew again looking for anyone who passed through here recently.

Zet: no one.....she was on her own all this time.

Sarah: let's go back.

Sarah then carried Kipo once again and walked all the way back to their base, again.

When they reached back home, Sarah gently put Kipo back on her bed and waited outside the tent with Zet.

Zet: alright...I need to go back to my base...I need to get something...

Sarah: ok.

Zet: call me if something happens before I come back.....you still remember how to call me right?

Sarah then chuckled quietly.

Sarah: yes...I know....now go.

The night has set, Sarah fell asleep as she was waiting for Kipo to wake up, while Zet still did not come back yet, and Kipo was still unconscious.

After five minutes of silence, Zet has arrived, he saw Sarah sleeping and Kipo still unconscious, so he decided to wait outside the tent, he put on his headphones and started listening to music.

After a short while, Kipo woke up, her head no longer hurts her, she was feeling better, she was confused about where she was, she opened her eyes and looked around her.

Kipo in her mind: again?

Zet heard a sound inside the tent, he went to check it out to find Kipo sitting on her bed.

Kipo saw him and immediately had an idea.

Kipo in her mind: this is my chance to talk to him about Sarah.

Zet: hey Kipo.....feeling better?

Kipo nodded.

Zet: good...I will be outside here if you need me.

Zet then headed outside, but before he exited.

Kipo: wait.....I need to talk to you about something.

Zet: I'm waiting outside.

Kipo then got up and washed her face in the lake that was near the tent, she was ready to talk to Zet.

Kipo then arrived near Zet and waved her head, hinting to Zet that she wants to go for a walk.

Zet then nodded.

Kipo: so how long have you been waiting?

Zet: not much.....just arrived.

Kipo: what happened.....after you found me?

Zet: I could ask you the same question.....what happened?

Kipo: my head....it pained me so much I passed out in the middle of nowhere.

Zet: when we found you we thought that someone attacked you.....Sarah rushed to you to check on you.....you know she cares about you right?

Kipo: which leads me to what I wanted to talk to you about in private.....I want to ask you about her.

Zet: go ahead...

Kipo: so why do you know her?

Zet: I knew her for so long....we used to live together on the surface.

Kipo: but where did you come from?

Zet: we used to live in a burrow too... like you....she was my best friend.....we used to live in the same house....because I wasn't really from that burrow.

Kipo: and where are you from exactly?

Zet: I rather not share this information.....not even Sarah knows this.

Kipo: what happened to your burrow?

Zet: we had a crazy scientist....he was too crazy....he hated mutes so much that he wanted to get rid of them all at once.

Kipo: so he created a nuclear bomb...

Zet: you're even smarter than I thought.....yes....he did....and it didn't go well....it exploded in the burrow and killed everyone in it.....lucky for me and unlucky for Sarah.....we used to sneak up to the surface a lot.....so we were up here when it happened.....we survived....while our....her home....family and friends were wiped out because of a crazy scientist.

Zet: look...I know you had your differences with her....but she's a good person....could be a bad person most of the time....but that means she's just a normal human....like all of us.

Kipo: but why you both are no longer friends?

Zet: well....this is a long story...I suggest you ask me other questions before I answer this one.

Kipo: ok.....tell me about your powers.

Zet: so there are 8 kids around the world....each one of us has a different power.....we are all about the same age....when our previous power wielders die...we are born....and so goes on the cycle...I'm the lightning wielder....or I should say our titles.....the lightning wonderkid.

Kipo: so what exactly do you do with lightning?

Zet: you seem pretty interested huh?

Kipo: you are one out of eight kids in the whole world.....of course I'm excited.

Zet: ok then...I can zap any electricity-conducted object...I can redirect lightning from one place to another.....and I can summon lightning.....but I only do this in emergencies.....because it hurts me too when I create lightning out of nothingness.....which is why I wasn't here when you woke up...I went back to my base to get bandages.....when you were unconscious on the ground I flew to survey the area around me.....just in case.....I did it twice so my hands got burned a little.....I got used to it by now.

Kipo: what about Sarah ?.....is she one of the 8 wonderkids too?

Zet: no....she's a normal girl....but she is as agile and fast as a superhuman or some sort.....her skills and composure in life-threatening situations make her special...I believe you noticed that by now.

Kipo: I did...

Zet: I guess now you want to go back to the big story question...

Kipo: yes....what happened?

Zet: After the bomb went off and with all what happened.....Sarah and I had to find a shelter away from the burrow because it drew attention to us.....we had to run away.....we found multiple shelters.....but they were all either unsafe....or surrounded by mutes territories.....we searched for a long time.....we couldn't find anything....but after long searching....we found a treehouse....it was near only one mutes territories....it wasn't much of a problem...it was hidden by the other trees....so we agreed to live in it.

Zet: we spent almost two years living together in the treehouse....and here is where the bad part starts....after a long time spent in the tree and exploring around.....we found out that there is a secret community of humans that live on the surface.....they were planning on raging another war on the mutes....when Sarah found out about it she was very excited about this....she apparently hates the mutes just as much as that crazy scientist.....I don't why she hated them that much....but she was ready to do almost anything to win the war against the mutes....and it seemed like I was a part of that list of ready to do anything...I didn't want to take part in this.....I knew that we will probably lose this war....it wasn't worth it.....so I and Sarah had a fight.....we almost killed each other...I got mad that I summoned enough lightning that should've burnt me alive....but I managed to control myself just fine enough that I did not annihilate her....and burn myself....she ran away from me and I did the same thing.....and we never saw each other since.....until now...I sneaked around your camp for a while.....just to make sure if it's her.

Kipo: that was you ?!.....you're the intruder ?!

Zet: yes...I was stalking you.....she would never catch me anyway....it was a fun chase...

Kipo: wow...I honestly don't know what to say...

Zet: is this all you wanted to ask me?

Kipo nodded.

Zet: are you ready to come back now?

Kipo then got up, she sighed and started heading back home...

Zet: I won't ask you to forgive her for what she's done.....I will leave this choice to you....but I want you to know something.....I did.

Kipo: thank you Zet.....

Zet : no problem.....hope you make the right move with her...I need to go now.....see you later.

Kipo : good bye.

Kipo was ready to forgive Sarah, she was ready to appreciate her for keeping her safe all this time.

After Kipo arrived home she waited patiently for Sarah to wake up, when she woke up she saw her looking happily at her.

Sarah : Kipo?...are you ok ?

Kipo then hugged her tightly.

Sarah : ok ?.....you're hugging me.....I don't like this....

Kipo : thank you....

Sarah was surprised, she did not say any word back, she waited in silence for Kipo to finish her hug.
