Chapter 18 : A free prisoner

The next day in the morning, It's 7 AM, Sarah just woke up, she was surprised to see Kipo awake and looking at Zet, who is still unconscious from last night.

Sarah : you're awake.

Kipo looked sad, frustrated, she nodded without looking at Sarah.

Sarah : is he still alive ?

Kipo : he's breathing.

Sarah : wait.....did you even sleep ?

Kipo : I did.

Sarah : did you get hurt too ?

Kipo then lifted her shirt up and showed Sarah her back and arms, which had burn marks all over them.

Sarah : was that from him ?.....what happened yesterday ?

Kipo : the wolf leader knew who I was....apparently I met him when I was a baby.....when my dad visited him.....and they saw what Zet did to the wolves who hunted him.....he wanted revenge....we knew we couldn't fight them....we had to run.

Sarah : let me guess.....the way to run was by using his powers.

Kipo : he had to.....or else we both would be dead....he burned himself alive for me to survive....we landed in a lake where they couldn't follow us.....he knew he would die if he does it....but he still did it.

Sarah : but how did he survive ?

Kipo : I saved him....I discovered new powers.....strength.....and cold breath.

Sarah : I see....I'm going to the lake....come with me....I think I know a way to heal your burn marks.

Kipo then followed Sarah to the lake, Sarah took her backpack with her.

Sarah : I need you to take off your shirt.

Kipo then took her shirt off, Sarah then took a plant out of her backpack.

Sarah : this is the fire Jax plant.

Kipo : fire Jax ?

Sarah : yeah....this is a plant Zet uses all the time to cure his burn marks.....put water anywhere there is a burn.

Kipo then put her hand in the lake and took it out.

Sarah : this will hurt you....but it will heal it.

Kipo then sighed.

Kipo : I'm ready.

Sarah : ok....don't move

Sarah then put the plant in her hand, the plant started to disappear in Kipo's hands, she was feeling the pain in her hands, it was painful, but healing.

Sarah : as soon as this plant disappears completely.....put your hands in the water.

Kipo : ok.

After a couple of seconds, the plant has disappeared, Kipo then put her hand in the water, the pain was gone, and her hands were healed.

Sarah : now your back.

Kipo : Zet does this every time he burns himself ?

Sarah : well....yeah...that's why he doesn't like using his powers that much.

Kipo then laid her back on the surface of the water and waited for Sarah to put the plant on her.

Sarah : on 3....2...1...

Sarah then carefully placed the 3 of the plants on her back.

Kipo started screaming.

Sarah then decided to remove them, but before she did.

Kipo : don't.....I can take it....keep them.

Seconds have passed, Kipo was done with her healing, she then let her body fall in the water, after moments, Kipo came out of the water.

Kipo : that was refreshing....thanks.

Sarah : no problem....now let's go check on Zet.

Kipo and Sarah came back to the tent that they sat in yesterday.

Zet : oh you're back.

Zet woke up, but he was still laying in bed, Kipo was so happy to see him awake.

Kipo : ZET !

Zet : hey....glad you're ok.

Kipo then rushed to hug him.

Zet : no no no.....stop stop....don't touch me.....I'm full of burns.

Kipo then stopped.

Kipo : yeah right...sorry.

Sarah : why can't you move.

Zet : well....apparently I'm paralyzed.

Kipo : you're what !?

Zet : relax....it happened to me before....I took too much lightning energy to my brain....I got temporarily paralyzed.

Sarah : so you will be fine ?

Zet : yeah of course I will be....it's just a shock.....so....does anyone care to explain what happened yesterday after I suddenly turned off ?

Sarah : after you flew up.....you landed in the water where you were aiming....you almost drowned....but then Kipo pulled you out and saved you.....and now she knows two new abilities.

Zet : Kipo.....you saved me ?

Kipo nodded.

Kipo : so glad you're safe.

Zet : well...I don't usually do this...but....I would hug you If can move....thanks for saving me....now you have an achievement Sarah doesn't.

Sarah : now hold on....I saved you before.

Zet : keeping me alive so you have the Kill for yourself is not saving.

Sarah : ok fine.

They all then laughed.

Zet : so...how did you save me ?

Kipo : well.....I suddenly got super strong.....and started pushing on your chest till the water came out....but you weren't breathing.....so I got my second ability....which is cold breath....I used it....and you started breathing.

Zet : wait wait.....you started beating the hell out of me and then kissed me to open my lungs ?

Kipo : yes.

Zet : this explains why I'm freezing from the inside and feeling like someone was dancing on my chest.....anyway....thanks.

Kipo : you did the same thing for me and Sarah multiple times....It's the least I can do.

Sarah : do you know how long will you be like this ?

Zet : about a month or two.

Sarah and Kipo : WHAT !!!

Zet : heh....I'm joking I'm joking.....it will take like 5 hours....more or less.

Sarah : that's better.

Zet : wait....did you complete the mission ?

Kipo : I actually forgot about the purpose of the whole plan.

Sarah : yeah I did....they're not far from here.....but there are way too many mutants there....there is no way we can fight them like this.

Zet : maybe we can't.....but....

Kipo then gasped.

Kipo : you mean.....

Zet : yes....I mean what you think I mean.

Kipo : but how are we going to do it ?

Sarah : hi....I'm still here....and waiting for an explanation.

Kipo : we're talking about uniting all the wonderkids together.

Zet : wait till I'm not paralyzed....we will have a lot to do....but for now....we can continue our training.

Kipo : what ?.....you can't train me like this.

Zet : It's fine....Sarah will carry me.

Sarah : you want me to carry you around like a baby ?

Zet : exactly.....plus....I need you to heal me.....I'm pretty sure I burned you Kipo.....but I'm not seeing any marks....so this means she healed you.

Sarah : I finished healing her just now.....you want us to heal you ?

Zet : yeah.....I'm not sure of this....but if I'm correct....I shouldn't feel any pain.

Sarah : but I don't want to carry him like an old man falling from his wheelchair.

Kipo : Sarah....come on....we have to help him.

Sarah then sighed.

Sarah : fine.

Sarah and Kipo then carried Zet to the lake, they then laid him on the ground and started pouring water all over him.

Zet : do my chest.....I won't let you touch my pants.

Sarah : yeah yeah sure.

Kipo : wait....is your whole body burnt ?

Zet : it should be.....I was not supposed to survive this anyway....so the least that can happen to me is being fully burnt.

Sarah then took Zet's burnt shirt off and poured water on his body.

Sarah : alright....this should be enough.....now rub the plant on him.

Kipo and Sarah started rubbing the plant on Zet's body, he was incorrect about him feeling any pain or not, he felt a big amount of pain.

Zet : oh yeah.....It still burns badly.....this is going to hurt.

Sarah started blushing, Zet noticed.

Zet : ok stop that....I can see you.

Sarah : what.....it's not my fault you have this body....you weren't like this before.

Zet : this is going to get creepy really quickly.

Sarah then noticed that Kipo was blushing too.

Sarah : see ?.....even Kipo is blushing.

Kipo : what ?.....no I'm not.

Zet looked at Kipo and saw it too, he then sighed.

Zet : just get on with it.

They have finished healing his chest, they then turned him around to start healing his back.

Zet : hey Kipo.....stop looking at my body and focus here.....I think I have figured out something.

Kipo : huh?

Zet : you said you have strength, speed, and cold breath now right ?

Kipo : yeah.

Zet : can you activate them whenever you want ?

Kipo : no, they only came to me when I needed them.....when I was trying to save you.

Zet : ok.....did you feel any emotion when you saved me ?

Kipo : yes...I cried on you....I thought you were going to die.

Zet : just like I thought....Kipo....your powers show up when you feel emotions.

Sarah : like her anger at me.....her sadness on you.

Kipo : wait....does this mean that I can only use my powers when I'm feeling something ?

Zet : what ? no...of course not....you discover them through feelings....but you will be able to control them....eventually.

Kipo : what do you mean by eventually ?

Zet : it can take minutes....it can take years to master your abilities.....it all comes down to you.

Kipo : but what animal am I ?

Zet : I think you're a wolf.

Sarah : there is no way she's like those freaks back there.

Zet : no...not them....you are the white wolf....the wolf that can live in the harshest and coldest weather conditions....I'm absolutely not sure about this....but you might be the first one to be a white wolf among all the animal wonderkids.

Kipo : so an ice wolf ?

Zet : the right word is arctic wolf....but yeah....you can say that.

After a couple of minutes, they have finished the upper part of Zet's body.

Sarah : done.

Zet : great....now please get away from my body.....bring me my other shirt....It's in my bag.

Sarah then went to get his shirt.

Zet then noticed Kipo blushing again.

Zet : you're still looking....aren't you ?

Kipo : no.

Zet chuckled.

Zet : yeah sure you aren't...anyway....can you get me up and set me on that tree over there....we can start your training.

Kipo : but I can't carry you.

Zet : are you sure about it ?...

Kipo then sighed, she tried to carry him, but she couldn't.

Zet : come on Kipo you can do it.....stop allowing your emotions to decide who you are and what can you do...plus I'm not that heavy.

Kipo then tried again, still was not able to carry him.

Kipo : uh....this isn't working.

Zet : If I had my arms moving I would've slapped you as hard as I can.

Kipo : I can't use my powers on....

Zet : SHUT THE HELL UP AND CARRY ME KIPO !!...STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND START MAKING PROGRESS !.....IS THIS WHAT A WONDERKIND DOES !!?

Kipo then tried again, this time she was able to move him slightly.

Zet : COME ON KIPO !

Kipo then started screaming while finally succeeding to carry Zet on her back.

Zet : THERE WE GO...THAT'S BETTER....GO GO GO !

Kipo finally reached the tree and threw Zet on the ground.

Zet was proud of her, she overcame her excuses and her emotions.

Kipo : I ACTUALLY DID IT !....YEAH !!

Zet : yeah you did it...but I said it set me on the tree....not throw me.

She helped him up.

Kipo : oh sorry.....I got so excited.

Sarah then came with a new shirt.

Sarah : did I miss something ?

Kipo : I just carried Zet all the way from there !

Zet : good job Kipo....I knew you can do it.....now....I need you to do something.....slap my face as hard as you can.

Kipo : what ?.....no....I'm not going to do this.

Zet : yes you will....stop letting your emotions get in the way and slap me.

Kipo then tried to slap him, but she did not even touch his face, she hit his shoulder very weakly, she is very hesitant.

Zet : look...I know you care about me and all....but one day you will have to save others that you love and care about in the most painful ways possible.....either to them...or the ones who are causing their danger....so stop arguing with yourself and slap the hell out of me.

Kipo then sighed, closed her eyes and reached her hand and landed a very powerful hit on Zet's face, making a huge slap sound.

Zet's eyes widened, he was very impressed and surprised by how powerful this hit was.

Sarah : ooooohh.....are you ok ?

Kipo : oh my god.....Zet I'm so sorry....I didn't mean to....

Zet started laughing loud.

Kipo : wait....why are you laughing ?

Zet then got up and started clapping.

Kipo : WHAT !

Sarah : ok.....what the hell is going on ?!

Zet : you did it !....you slapped the hell out of someone you care about.....awesome job Kipo.....I'm very proud of you.

Kipo : were you even paralyzed all this time !?!

Zet : yeah....but before you started healing I started feeling again.

Kipo : so you were feeling all of this !?.....what is wrong with you ?.....why do you love the pain ?

Zet smiled.

Zet : well....if it's for someone who's worth it.....I can take it.

Zet left Kipo suddenly speechless.

Zet : go ahead try to carry Sarah.

Kipo then tried to carry Sarah, she easily succeeded.

Sarah : look at that.

Zet : now you have a strength ability.....congrats.

Kipo : oh my god....thank you !

Zet : in fact....I should thank you.

Kipo : huh ?

Zet : remember when I said that each wonderkid has a special effect on another wonderkid ?

Kipo : yeah.

Zet : well....you did yours on me.....the cold breath was the key to open this ability to me....now I'm feeling cold from the inside....and with that I no longer burn myself when I summon any kind of lightning energy.

Kipo : wait what ?....I healed your burns and gave you immunity ?

Zet then decided to show her, he summoned a big amount of energy, his eyes started glowing, he then zapped the whole lake, the lake started to glow very bright, Kipo was astonished by what she just saw.

Zet : see ?.....now I'm more powerful than ever.....all thanks to you.

Zet then opened his arms and hugged Kipo a long and tight hug.

Kipo : I...

Zet : you just freed me from my curse of using my powers....I can't be more grateful.....thank you.

Kipo then hugged him back.

Kipo : you're welcome.
