Chapter 23: A day off (part 2)

It's 10 PM, Kipo, Zet and Sarah were ready to break Leo out from the mutant's jail, they were all getting ready, Sarah was looking for her knife.

Sarah : did anyone see my knife ?

Zet : which one.....the red one or the silver ?

Sarah : the red one.....I swear it was in my backpack.

Kipo started to help Sarah looking for her knife.

she found it under the tent.

Kipo : found it.....here.

Sarah : how the hell did it get under the tent ?.....whatever....is everyone ready ?

Zet : I'm ready.

Kipo : me too.

Sarah : alright then.....Zet take your position.....start after 5 minutes of you arriving....we should be in our positions by then.....Kipo wear your cape....we need to go.

Kipo : ok.

Kipo then left the tent.

Sarah : hey.

Zet : hm ?

Sarah : if you die today I will kill you.

Zet : aw look at that....you care about me.

Sarah : don't get your hopes up too much.

Zet chuckled.

Zet : don't worry.....I'm better than dying in one of your missions.

Sarah : I don't know if this is a compliment or an insult.....just go.

Zet left with a small smile on his face.

Zet : sir yes sir.

Sarah then left the tent to follow Kipo.

Sarah : Kipo you're my eyes till we reach the city.

Zet was walking to his place, Kipo and Sarah have arrived at the city, they immediately mixed with the other civilians, they must not get any attention, Sarah found the hole.

Sarah : over there.

At this point, they were waiting for Zet to start his show.

Minutes have passed, Zet reached his position.

Zet in his mind : alright.....time for a light show.

His eyes started glowing, his hands started summoning lightning energy, he looked up and aimed his lightning strikes at the sky, making it look like fireworks.

Sarah, Kipo and everyone in the city could see it, huge lightning strikes moving up straight from the ground, Sarah waited more moments so Zet can grab everyone's attention.

Sarah : are you ready ?

Kipo nodded.

They then started to walk faster through the crowds that were distracted, they reached the hole, no one saw them, Sarah's plan is still working, time for the dangerous part of her plan.

They jumped into the hole, they kept following its lead, they ended up in the cage the hole was dug from, Sarah checked their surroundings, no one was walking around, Kipo then used her powers to bend the metal cage bars, they started looking in other cages, they didn't find any human, there were only mutants that looked desperate, or just dead mutant bodies laying on the ground in the cages.

Kipo and Sarah didn't allow themselves to get distracted, they need to find Leo, they kept looking deeper in the jail, they saw guards walking around, they were able to sneak past them.

After minutes of walking through the jail, they found a huge lab, they saw humans working in it, they looked hungry, tired, weak, they were able to spot Leo amongst all these people, they went in the lab, Sarah went far from Leo and made a small noise causing the guard's distraction, while Kipo snuck her way near Leo, the guards that were roaming around heard Sarah's distraction, Kipo had to make her move now, she came up to Leo and noticed his leg was cuffed, she tried to open it with her strength, Leo looked behind him, he saw Kipo trying to break him out, he knew he had to keep the guard's suspicion off of him, after moments, Kipo was able to break his chain, Leo is free, they had to find a way to get out, Sarah then changed her position and made another noise to attract the guards roaming, Kipo and Leo noticed Sarah's plan, they were able to leave the lab.

Sarah was not able to get out, Kipo had to go back and make a distraction for Sarah, she came back in and made a noise near the exit door, the guards got mad at all of this noise, they started rushing.

The guards took their attention off of Sarah, giving her enough time to leave the lab with no one noticing, they came running to the last noise they heard, the noise Kipo made, when two of them reached to the noise source, they found nothing, Kipo was already out, Sarah and Leo were undetected and safe, it's time for them to leave the jail.

Zet was still making a show for the civilians, the guards decided to check what's making all this light, 6 gorillas went to see who or what it is, when they reached there, they saw Zet, Zet noticed them, he was about to run, he turned his back to start running, when he looked behind him he found one of the guards has flanked him, there was nowhere to run.

Zet in his mind : well.....guess I can stay for dinner.

His hair started glowing alongside his hands and eyes, he then summoned his lightning knives, the gorillas knew who Zet is, they knew that he's a wonderkid, they had to capture him alive.

2 guards jumped at him from different sides, he had to move away, they hit each other, but they got up again, Zet didn't do anything to them, the key to win this fight is patience.

1 of the guards rushed at him, Zet saw a big fist coming straight to his face, they are trying to knock him out, Zet ducked, he then used his knives to stab the guard's hand and then zap him, the gorilla was screaming, Zet was burning him, he wasn't going to stop until the guard is dead, moments have passed, the guard fell on the ground, he wasn't moving, everyone realized he died.

Zet in his mind : one down....5 to go.

Zet : alright.....who's next ?!

The gorillas were intimidated, they started to get scared of Zet, he noticed the fear.

3 of the guards attacked him at once, he had to do something fast, he stabbed his knives in the ground, which sent a ground shock around him, the 3 gorillas were getting zapped, they fell on the ground, they lost consciousness, but didn't die, right after the ground shock ended, the last 2 gorillas attacked immediately, Zet's knives were still in the ground, he made a mistake, he won't be able to get his knives out before he was knocked out by their punch, he had to use his hands, a strong punch was coming his way, he was able to block it, but he didn't see the other guard, he couldn't block another one, the guard landed his punch on Zet, he got knocked out, time for them to go back with their capture.

Sarah, Leo and Kipo were trying to get out, they were trying to find ways to sneak past the guards, they were running in silence, they are heading to find the cage they came out from, they have reached the hole.

All of a sudden, Kipo stopped, her eyes widened, she felt something weird, she knew what happened to Zet, Sarah noticed.

Sarah : what's wrong ?

Kipo : Zet got captured.

Sarah eyes widened.

Kipo : get out of here....I will meet you at our base....make sure you're not followed....keep him safe.

Sarah then left the hole and ran straight to the camp, while Kipo departed to look for Zet, she knew that she has to get there in time, or else she will never see Zet again.

She was running very fast, Zet's position was a bit far from the city, she had to go faster, she was not fast enough, her legs and hands started growing white fur on them, she started running on all 4.

After 3 minutes, she arrived, she saw 2 gorillas carrying Zet and heading back to the city.

Kipo : HEY !!

Kipo was growling, her eyes were glowing pink, the 2 gorillas saw her, they knew that they can't fight her, they decided that one should slow her down, while the other run away.

The fight began, 1 guard stayed and the other ran with Zet on his back, Kipo stood on all her 4 arms and legs, she charged in a rapid speed at the guard, the guard's eyes widened, she was so fast for him to track her, in moments, Kipo was in front him, she punched him hard enough, he was thrown, he hit a tree and fallen dead on the ground, now she has to follow the other one before he reaches their base, she started running, her claws started to show up, the gorilla was not far from his base.

After seconds have passed, the gorilla started looking around him while running, he can't hear or see anyone, he figured that his mate took care of her, until Kipo came out walking from the shadows and standing in front of him, the guard could see the lit eyes, he could hear the growling in front of him, his eyes widened, he knew he was dead, Kipo rushed at him, the guard was in fear, he closed his eyes and waited for his inevitable fate, seconds have passed, the guard opened his eyes, he looked at his surroundings, he saw no one, Kipo was gone, so as Zet, the guard was confused, why didn't she kill him.

Sarah have reached the base, she was carrying Leo with her, she lied him on the ground gently, he was tired and hungry, he needed to rest, he was heavily breathing.

Sarah : you're safe now.

Leo : thank....you.

Sarah nodded to him with a smile, she then came back outside and looked around, she was worried that Kipo got captured trying to save Zet.

Sarah in her mind : come on come on.....please.

Minutes have passed, Kipo returned at the base carrying Zet, Sarah saw her, she sighed with relief.

Kipo : he's knocked out.

Sarah : he'll be fine, put him inside.

Kipo got inside and lied Zet next to her father, while Sarah climbed a tree to see if Kipo was followed.

After Kipo lied Zet, she looked at her father.

Kipo : hi...dad.

Leo looked at her, tears were falling down his cheeks, he couldn't be happier, he is now free and reunited with his daughter.

Leo : hey *cough* Kipo.

Kipo wanted to hug him, but she can see his bones through his clothes, she realized that he is starving, she didn't want to hurt him with her hug.

Sarah came back.

Sarah : we're clear.....well done Kipo....mission completed.

Kipo : do we have any food ?

Sarah : we took it with us to the temple.....check Zet's bag.

Kipo then opened Zet's bag, she found 2 apples in it, she then immediately gave them to her father.

Kipo : here.....you will feel better.

Leo saw the food, he was starving, he grabbed the apples and started to eat.

Kipo then looked at Zet, she looked at his body, she needed to see if he was injured.

Sarah saw her.

Sarah : hey...relax....he will be fine....this usually happens to him when go out on a mission.

Kipo faintly smiled, she then sighed.

Kipo : yeah....you're right.

Sarah : keep an eye on your father.....I will take care of him.

Kipo nodded.

Kipo : so.....how are you ?

Leo was eating, he didn't eat for so long, after seconds of waiting, he finished eating, he was ready to talk.

Leo : I'm ok...thanks to you....and your friends.

Kipo : this is Sarah....she was in my school....and the only one who survived the attack other than me.

Sarah : nice to meet you...Mr.Oak.

Leo : please....call me Leo.

Kipo : and this is Zet.....a friend.

Leo : is he ok ?

Kipo : he's just knocked out....happens to him all the time he'll be fine....can you get up ?

Leo tried to get up, he couldn't, his legs were still weak.

Leo : I may need more rest.

Sarah : I'll go grab more fruits.

Sarah then left the tent.

Leo : so....how are you ?

Kipo : I'm fine....I have a lot to tell you.

Leo : I'm all ears.

Kipo : so....It turns out I have superpowers.....and Zet is my teacher and he also has powers.

Leo : wow....what do you got ?

Kipo : I'm a half-human half mutant arctic wolf....and he has lightning powers.

Leo : what about Sarah ?

Kipo : no she's a normal human.

Leo : how did you figure these powers ?

Kipo : Zet discovered me....taught me.....and kept me safe all this time.

Leo : I see he's a good friend.

Kipo : he is.....I can't wait for you to meet him.

Leo : so what exactly happened ?

Kipo : well....Sarah made a plan to break you out of that jail.....Zet was supposed to distract everyone.....while we sneak in and get you out.....Zet got in a fight with some guards...and lost it.....I had to leave you with Sarah and go save him.

Leo : it was brave of you to rush stupidly for him.

Kipo : he saves me....I save him....not a big deal....we keep each other safe.

Sarah then came back with different kinds of fruits.

Sarah : here.....fresh fruit.

Leo : thank you Sarah.

Sarah : no problem....I hope you're fine.

Leo : I will be.....thanks to you all.

Leo started to eat.

Leo : hope she wasn't too much trouble for you.

Sarah laughed.

Sarah : not at all....we're lucky to have her with us.

Kipo noticed how hungry was her father.

Kipo : dad ?

Leo : hm ?

Kipo : when was the last time you ate ?

Leo : 2 days.

Kipo : what!?

Leo : calm down....I'll explain to you tomorrow.....for now....I need to sleep.

He was tired, he finished eating and went to sleep.

Kipo looked at him while he was slowly closing his eyes, she was happy knowing that he is safe, Sarah saw her.

Sarah : hey....go to sleep....I will guard tonight.

Kipo nodded.

Sarah then left the tent and started her night looking after her friends in the tent, she was proud of herself, her plan worked, they were able to save Leo, and they all came out alive from there, apparently Zet was right about her, she is a great leader.

Kipo was about to sleep, she put her sleeping bag next to her father, she was sleeping very comfortably, she saved her father, she teared while looking at him sleeping safely next to her.

Kipo in her mind : welcome back.....dad.
