Chapter 28: A group of thieves

It's 10 AM in the morning, Kipo and Leo were still having their talk, while walking in the woods.

Leo : so when I was talking with Zet.....he mentioned that he rejected you because of certain problems he has....and he told me that he doesn't want to talk about it....but he allowed me to hear it from you.....so what does he mean ?

Kipo : I don't feel comfortable talking about it too....but fine...so when I kissed him....the way he reacted was weird.....he just ran away without saying any word.....I was so confused....after a while he took me and Sarah to the place he came from.....which happens to be the only place he never wanted to come back to ever....it's a temple in the north.....there is a high mountain outside of Las vistas....it's on top of it.

Leo : is this the place where he was born or something ?

Kipo : no.....his parents left him there when he was and left....he never saw them.....that temple is where wonderkids come from.....or to be accurate....shadow Kids.

Leo : shadow Kids ?

Kipo : our powers were meant to rule this world....not save it.....we are supposed to be the only 8 humans that have powers on this whole planet....no one can kill us and that's where Zet came in....his mission is to change history.....he wants to change what we are and make us heroes instead of the villains.

Kipo : he decided to show me why he acted like that.....so did he mention the name Kate ?

Leo : no....he didn't.....is she the reason he is like this ?

Kipo : sort of...yeah.....Kate is someone who used to live with him in the temple.....as there were shadow kids training to become overlords.....there were also their future army....ones that will fight for them and serve them.....and Kate was one of them.....Zet really wanted to be her friend for a long while.....she wasn't really the one to miss with.....she was focusing on her training.....she didn't want any distractions...Zet was not like what he is now.....he was so much of a coward....he was friendly....he tried to talk to her every day.....but every time he tried...she ignored him....he tried so many times....none of them worked.....until that one day....she saw her sitting on a tree in the middle of the night.....she used to love watching the moonrise.....he tried to talk to her then and it worked....they found out that they have many things in common....it didn't take a while until they became friends.

Leo : did she know he is her own lord ?

Kipo : no....that's the only secret he had to hide from her....because he knows that she won't hang out with the one she is going to serve one day.....months passed.....they used to hang out together everyday.....the only time they weren't together was when they were training.....the masters of the temple noticed that a soldier is best friends with a lord.....they can't let it happen.....they had to stop it.....one day...Kate and Zet were demanded to fight each other to the death.....either one of them dies.....or both of them do.....Zet then started using his powers...she then immediately knew how much more valuable he is than her.....she couldn't let it happen.....she allowed him to live.....he had to kill her.....he hugged her for the first time....and it was his last....he sent a shock through her body.....caused her heart to slowly stop.....he killed the one he ever liked in his life.....she died in his hands....and that's when he snapped.....he killed everyone in the temple and destroyed it....no one knows about this temple but us now....and no one will ever do.

Leo didn't speak, he looked at the ground, he didn't know what to say, but now he understands Zet, he now knows what he meant by emotionless.

Kipo : and that's why he likes me.....he sees me as his Kate....the one that can affect him.....the only one he ever cared about...after Kate of course.....that's why he spends time with me....he needs me in his life....and I would never leave him.....I hope you understand now.

Leo : I do...I think I'm ready to go back now.

They came back to the tent, Zet and Sarah were patiently waiting for them to come back.

Sarah : oh hey.....so how did your little chat go ?

Kipo : it went pretty well.....I guess now we all agree on our trip to Alaska.

Zet : so Kipo.....remember that we didn't have an actual way to travel ?

Kipo : yeah pretty much.....the Idea we came up with was stupid.

Zet chuckled.

Sarah : and that's where Leo suggested an Idea...a good....but a dangerous one.

Kipo : I'm listening.

Zet : Leo.

Leo didn't respond, he was in his own mind, he was not listening.

Zet : Leo ?

Leo : huh ?!

Zet : you ok ?...you zoned out for a bit.

Leo : I'm ok I'm ok.....what were you saying ?

Zet : would you like to explain the idea you came up to Kipo ?

Leo : alright so...when I was in the lab.....we were working on this chemical reaction that makes their transportations somewhat invincible.....they are oversized big flamingos.....If you can steal one of them and run away with it.....you can travel the world with it.

Kipo got excited.

Kipo : yes!.....that's some good news !

Sarah : you're excited to do another mission....aren't you ?

Kipo : another life-threatening situation.....sign me in.....I know it's dangerous but it's so much fun.

Zet started smiling.

Zet in his mind : and that's the spirit of a leader.

Sarah : alright.....we will do it tomorrow night.

Zet : don't you think they expect us to come at night ?

Sarah : not yet.....we only went there once.....they will start thinking we only come at night after this mission.

Leo : so what's the plan ?

Sarah : I'll make one today....it won't take long.....for now....do whatever you want.

Zet : hey Kipo.....are you up for some training ?

Kipo : but you said it's a day off.

Zet : which is why I'm asking you instead of dragging you.

Kipo : you enjoy see me running around and listening to your orders huh ?

Zet : hey...I'm not saying no to it.

Kipo : I'll pass today....thanks.

Zet : it's ok....but be ready to train in the snow.

Kipo : oh no.

Leo : hey Zet.....mind If I borrow you for a second ?

Zet : sure.

Leo then left the tent with Zet.

Zet : let me guess....Kipo told you about the things I didn't want to tell you myself.

Leo : she did...I just want to let you know...I understand how you feel about Kate.

Zet : you do ?

Leo : my story isn't that different from yours.....I lost my wife when Kipo was born.....she was the one that I gave her all I had and she just died...unexpectedly.

Zet : you could never be fine after it.....every night and day you thought about it.....nothing was going to keep you sane anymore.....until Kipo showed up in your life....and now you know....you lost so much....but it was in order to win too...I know this feeling very well...I had to live with it for years.

Leo then got down on his knees, he hugged Zet.

Leo : we both have someone to miss.

Zet put his hand on his back.

Zet : our tears and grief won't get them back.....but now....we have Kipo.

Leo then got up and off of Zet.

Leo : thank you....for being the person Kipo deserved in her life.

Zet : I might be what Kipo wants.....but I will never be close to what she deserves.

Leo : alright....let's go back now...Kipo is waiting for you.

Leo and Zet have finally bonded, turns out they have things in common, things that not many can understand.

After a while of walking, they reached back to the camp.

Kipo : oh you're back....Zet...did you forget something ?

Zet : what are you ta.....

Zet then looked at Kipo, her eyes were widened, she then looked at Sarah without moving her head towards her, Zet understood what she meant, they forgot about her gift.

Zet : oh yeah right.....I just remembered.....we have a training today....right....alright let's go Kipo.

Zet and Kipo then ran out of the tent.

Kipo : we forgot her gift !.....we should've got it yesterday !

Zet : it's ok....don't panic....we can still get her something.

Kipo : we said we were going to get her a bow.

Zet : we don't have time for it....we can't make one this fast.

Kipo : actually.....we can...I can get you the resources....and you can make it.

Zet : you mean with your wolf form ?

Kipo : I can knock a whole tree down and start tearing it apart.....wood....done.

Zet : and what about the string ?

Kipo : we have some in my old burrow.

Zet : you can't go that far that fast and come back.....it's way too far from here.

Kipo then sighed, he's right, she can't.

Zet : I have a better idea than all of this...we are going to steal a flamingo from them.....why don't we steal a bow and some arrows too.

Kipo : we don't know their arrows.....we have to make our own.....but yeah....we can steal a bow from them.....it shouldn't be that hard....right ?

Zet : alright.....now....we need multiple resources.....we will make her different arrows.

Kipo : so you mean different effects ?...or different heads ?

Zet : both...I want to make her a weapon that she can protect herself with.

Kipo : so I'm curious about something ?....Sarah taught you archery.....and now you are good at it.....but how good are you two at it ?

Zet : well....I won't say I'm better than the one who taught me.....but I can say I'm pretty decent at it.

Kipo : care to put on a quick show ?

Zet : sure....but I need a target.....do you want to stand with an apple on your head.

Kipo : so you are saying If I want to die ?...no I think I'm good.

Zet laughed.

Zet : alright....fair enough.....just get some apples and throw them in the air.

Kipo : isn't this a bit too hard for you ?

Zet : we'll see.

Kipo then gathered 10 apples, Zet summoned his lightning bow.

Kipo : I love it when you summon your energy weapons.....they look so cool.

Zet : thanks...I would let you hold them if they weren't going to fry you.

Kipo : alright...are you ready ?

Zet then took his position, he was ready to fire, he sighed.

Zet : I'm ready.

Kipo then threw the first apple, Zet fired his shot at it but he missed.

Kipo : you missed.

Zet : I'm a bit rusty.....go again.

Kipo then threw another one again, but he is still missing.

Kipo : are you sure you.....

Zet : another one.

Kipo then threw another one in the air, this time he hit it, but it wasn't a pierce through....it only touched it.

Zet sighed in disappointment of himself.

Kipo : you missed....again.

Zet's eyes then lit up, he nodded at Kipo, he is ready for another one.

Kipo then threw another apple in the air, this time he didn't miss, the lightning arrow pierced the apple and pinned it on a tree.

Zet : another one.

Kipo started throwing the rest of the apples, and he started shooting one by another, he didn't miss any of the apples.

Kipo was amazed, he got them all, Zet's eyes came back to normal.

Kipo : wow....so what Sarah said was true !

Zet : what did she say ?

Kipo : you.....don't.....miss.

Zet chuckled.

Zet : did she also say it this way ?

Kipo : exactly like this.

Zet : but I did...I missed 3 shots.

Kipo : it's ok....you just needed to warm up...so are you planning on teaching me how to use it ?

Zet : and why would YOU need to learn how to use a bow ?

Kipo : maybe I'm in a situation where I need to take someone out from a distance.

Zet : I mean....I can assure you that you won't need to do it ever.....that would my job.....but sure...I can teach you.....but not now.....now we need to gather different resources for Sarah's arrows.

Zet and Kipo then started looking around the whole forest for the resources they need.
