Chapter 30: A celebration

It's 2 PM, everyone was getting ready for their mission.

Kipo : so you made a plan Sarah ?

Sarah : yeah.....I can tell you about it right now...but first we need to get ready with what we need.

Later.....

Zet : alright we're done.....so what's the plan ?

Sarah : just before we start.....Leo do you want to be in it or not ?

Kipo looked at Sarah with a worried face, but she didn't say anything, Sarah saw her.

Sarah : you can choose to wait for us or be with us.

Leo : you know.....I don't think I can keep up with you guys.....so I won't stand in your way.

Sarah : suit yourself.

Kipo then sighed with relief.

Sarah : alright....so here's what I got.....our target is in a small building near the main building.....our way in is through sneaking in.....this time we won't need any distractions.....we need to get in and blend with them.....we have to sneak all the way to that building....there will probably be some people there.....we take them out.....we control one of them and we escape.....now....any questions ?

Kipo : we won't actually kill them....right ?

Sarah : this will depend on who is inside.....if it's someone who will fight us....then yes....we will.....if it's anyone else.....we won't.

Zet : alright.....then it's all done.....we go out at 6 PM....we should be done in 2 hours.

Sarah : we will use the night as our cover.....we will split in there...we need to not make ourselves suspicious.....try to blend with the others.....and don't get caught...Leo....you will be ready if we need any medical attention....that is if we come back.

Leo : is this usual to you ?

Sarah : what do you mean ?

Leo : putting yourself in the middle of the enemy territories and having the odds against you all the time.

Sarah : we are heroes.....If we don't do it.....no one will...this is what's makes us heroes.

Zet then headed to the exit.

Sarah : going somewhere ?

Zet : I'll be back soon.

Kipo : do you want me to come with you ?

Zet : it's ok...It won't take long.

Zet left.

Sarah : do you know where he's going ?

Kipo : no.....but I'm guessing the temple.

Sarah : the temple ?.....did something happen yesterday ?

Zet then came back.

Zet : hey Kipo.....can I borrow your knife ?

Kipo : sure.

Kipo gave him her emerald knife.

Kipo : no.....nothing interesting...but yeah he is probably going there.

Kipo was right, Zet wanted to go to the temple, he was running to his destination, he knows it's far, he didn't want to take too long.

When he reached the mountain, he started flying, but he didn't reach the top, he stopped in the middle, he then started looking for a small brick, he found it, when he pressed it big rocks started moving away from each other, a gate has opened, it was the entrance to Kate's cave.

He started walking in the cave and looked around him, he remembered all the time he spent with her here, he kept moving inside, after moments, he reached a grave, it's where he buried her.

Zet : hey Kate.....I know I haven't visited in a long time.....I didn't want to come back here.....until I met this girl.....her name is Kipo.....she is another shadow kid.....she convinced me to come back.....I was running the whole time I was away from you.....she is a lot like you.....you would've loved her.....she is cute....smart.....and very strong....she can do a lot.....and guess what...I'm going to gather them all.....I will end this war.....I will rewrite our history...we are not shadow kids anymore...I'm going to change it.....we are the 8 wonderkids now.

Zet then looked deeply at her grave, he started tearing.

Zet : I know what I did to you.....and I will never forgive myself for it.....I wasn't strong enough and you paid for it.....I hope you can forgive me.....I'm trying to do the right thing.....I will never allow anyone to suffer like me.....I won't allow any of these powerful kids to sacrifice the lives of their closest just to survive.....I miss you.....I hope you are in a better place than here.

Zet let out a small laugh.

Zet : it really sucks without you.

He then got on his knees and gave her a kiss on her tombstone.

Zet : now.....if you will excuse me.....I have a world to save.

Zet then got out of the cave and closed the gates behind him, he then used the emerald knife and started writing on the rocks.

"here lies my secret, my past, what I have done, and what I became, goodbye, Kate."

Zet then headed back to the tent.

Kipo : you think he's ok ?

Leo : relax.....he will be fine....he's a wonderkid.

Kipo : I'm not talking about his safety dad.

Sarah : but you're refusing to tell me what happened yesterday.....I can't tell you.

Kipo was about to tell her, but then Zet came in.

Kipo : hey Zet.....wow....you didn't really take long.....where were you ?

Zet : nowhere special....just....wanted some alone time.

Sarah : I forgot to mention this.....how are you going to get the bow for my arrows ?...we don't know where they are.

Zet : there must be a guard with one...I will quickly take him out and steal it...it shouldn't be hard...by the way.....If you want to thank anyone for the arrows.....thank Kipo.

Kipo looked at him, confused, she knows he did most of the work.

Zet : she made all the arrows....all I did was telling her what to do and melt some gold....not a big deal.

He then looked at Kipo, he was trying to tell her to go with him.

Sarah : Kipo.....you made 20 of these by yourself ?

Kipo : ye....yeah ?....yeah I did.

Sarah then came to her and hugged her.

Sarah : aww thanks.....it's a great gift.

Leo : look at that....my girl can forge golden weapons !

Zet : yeah.....she's pretty good at it.

Kipo then looked at Zet again while hugging Sarah back, he nodded to her with a smile.

Kipo : well.....since you taught Zet archery.....I figured that you want to have a weapon on you when we are not here.

Sarah : that's so thoughtful of you.

They stopped hugging.

Kipo : hey Zet.....I think we can do training really quick.....what do you say ?

Zet : um.....sure.

Kipo : great !

She then grabbed his hand and took him outside of the tent.

Leo : are you going to tell him ?...we both know she didn't make them.

Sarah : no.....he's trying to do nice things to her.....let him be proud of it.....I have never seen him that happy to be with anyone before.....that's a first.

Kipo : ok.....what was that for ?

Zet : I don't know what are you talking about.

Kipo : come on.....you literally did like 80% of the work....why did you do that ?

Zet : I still don't know what are you talking about.

He started laughing.

Kipo : you know what.....fine.....I won't talk to you until you explain.

Zet was still laughing.

Zet : alright alright.....I just wanted to do something nice for you.....consider it as a thank you for helping me making these arrows for her.....she really likes them.

Kipo : yeah....she does....but how did you know what she wants ?

Zet : remember my fight with her ?

Kipo : yeah.

Zet : I broke her bow that night.....it was her "go-to" weapon.....so I'm trying to make her a new one.

Kipo : do you ever regret that night ?

Zet : I don't know If I ever told you this....but I don't regret.

Kipo : of course you don't.

Zet : hey....what's that supposed to mean ?

Kipo : come on.....you call yourself way too many bad things and think that you are these things but you're not...like emotionless.....you're not emotionless.....you just lost your emotions.....and this why I'm here.

Zet : I don't even want to argue right now.....sure....whatever you say.....just for the record.....this isn't the only reason you're here you know.....you're here with me to save the world and end a whole war.

Kipo : speaking of which...I wasn't lying about our training.

Zet : wait what ?.....you want to have a training ?

Kipo : we haven't fought anyone in a while...I want to warm up.

Zet : ok ?...that's new.....but sure....um.....well.....we can have a small fight with wooden knives.

Kipo : you want to fight me with wooden knives ?

Zet : yeah.....you know you can't beat me.

Kipo : come on Zet...I want to do something hard.....and more fun than just fighting you.....again.

Zet : I just wasn't really prepared with anything for you today.....you want to train 3 hours before a mission.

Kipo sighed.

Kipo : alright.....fine....let's just go back to the tent.

Zet : hey....don't give me that sad tone.....it's way too strong.

Kipo : then I'm doing a good job.

Zet : alright listen...how about this...I promise you that when we get to Alaska.....you will have so much fun there.

Kipo : by fun you mean a hard training.

Zet : usually that's what I mean....yes....but not this time.....I really mean actual fun.....for now....can we go back...we need to have some rest for tonight.

Kipo : fine.

They started walking back to the tent.

Zet : hey....do you know the aurora borealis ?

Kipo : no....what's that ?

Zet : it's just going to be the best thing you'll ever see.....it's a natural light show in the sky.....it only happens where we are going.....and only at night.....you'll love it so much.

Kipo : how do you know about it ?

Zet : as a shadow kid that gets his powers from the skies.....I had to study a lot about it.

Kipo : I'm an astronomy scientist and don't know what are you talking about...that's not fair.

Zet : you're not a scientist Kipo...you know a lot but you have a lot to learn too.....this is your bright future though.

Kipo : aww.....thanks....pretty optimistic coming from you.

Zet : well.....I'm trying here.

They have reached the tent.

Kipo : we're back.

Leo : that was too quick of a training.

Kipo : well...we agreed to not do a training 2 hours before a mission.

Sarah : that's better.....for both of you....now we can go and see where will we position before we do it.

Kipo : I mean.....we don't have anything else to do....so....sure.

Sarah : alright then...wear your capes.....it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.

Kipo, Zet and Sarah then left.

They started running and jumping on trees, after 5 minutes they have reached a point where they can see the whole mutant city.

Kipo : actually.....come to think about it.....this place looks really cool.

Zet : yeah.....they did a pretty good job here...too bad we will destroy it.

Kipo : WHAT ?!

Sarah : hey.....keep your voice low Kipo.

Kipo : what do you mean.....we won't destroy their whole world.....right ?

Zet chuckled.

Zet : I'm just messing with you.....no we won't.....we will just take out anyone that wants to kill us.

Kipo then hit him on his shoulder.

Kipo : you got to stop doing this.

Zet was still chuckling.

Zet : never.

Sarah : alright.....focus here.....I'll be between these two shops over there.....Zet will be there near the main building.....and Kipo will wait for us in the forest...once you see us getting near our target....you move.....everybody got it ?

Kipo : yeah.

Zet nodded.

Sarah : alright.....let's go back.

They came back to the tent, but they didn't find Leo in it.

Kipo : dad ?

They all started to get worried.

Sarah : Kipo.....go on foot.

Kipo started running.

Sarah : Zet.

Sarah then jumped on Zet's hands and he launched her to land on top of a tree.

Zet then started running in a different direction.

Kipo : DAD.

Zet then reached the lake, he found him there.

Zet : there you are.

Leo : oh hey.....sorry....I needed to go for a bit.

Zet : FOUND HIM.

Kipo and Sarah heard him, Kipo suddenly calmed down, she thought something happened to him.

Zet : let's go back.....Kipo was about to freak out.

They are back at the tent.

Kipo : dad.....are you ok ?...where have you been ?

Leo : I had to go for a bit....sorry.

Sarah : hey...If you want to leave for a minute or two just leave a message.

Leo : are you all ready for your mission ?

Sarah : we are.....now all we have to do is wait for the night to set on them.

Time has passed, It's 6 PM.

Sarah : alright....it's dark.....we can go now.

Kipo : finally !...that was so boring.

Zet : we're living up to the shadow kids' name here...huh.

Kipo laughed.

Sarah : sure.....we can go in the day and get recognized by bright pink or yellow hair....sounds like a good idea right ?

Zet : point taken.

They then got out.

Kipo then stopped, Zet saw her.

Zet : you forgot something ?

Kipo : go ahead....be right with you.

She entered the tent.

Kipo : hey dad.

Leo : what are you doing here ?.....they're waiting for you.

Kipo : I don't want to let you feel like you're being left out here.

Leo : it's ok...I understand that I won't be much of a help with you there.....I'll be waiting for you here.

Kipo then smiled, she kissed him.

Kipo : bye dad.

Leo : go get that bird !

Kipo chuckled on her way out of the tent, she then went to catch up with Zet and Sarah.

Sarah : alright....take your positions...we move together.....cause no attention and don't get distracted....good luck.

They all went to their positions.

Kipo went to hide in the shadows of the trees, while Zet and Sarah blended in with the civilians.

They started moving together, they moved closer and closer to the bird's building, no suspicion was made, Kipo was watching them from the wood.

After moments, Zet and Sarah reached their target, Kipo now has to follow them, when she moved to get in, one of the guards saw her moving in, Zet saw him, he was aiming a bow shot on her, Zet had to act fast, he then abandoned his position and moved to Kipo.

The arrow was shot at her, but before it hit her, Zet came in and took the hit in his shoulder, it impaled him, Kipo saw him.

Zet : AH!

Kipo : are you ok ?

Zet : we're compromised.....we'll have to fight now.

Zet then looked at Sarah in the distance and nodded to her, he wants her to finish the mission while they fight.

Sarah then got into the building and started looking around.

The gorilla guards started surrounding Kipo and Zet.

Zet then reached his hand in front of Kipo.

Zet : so....how about a dance ?

Kipo remembered what dance he's talking about, she pulled her knife out.

Kipo : I accept your invitation.

Zet then summoned his knives out.

Zet : then let's dance.

Guards started attacking, none of them was able to touch Zet or Kipo, they were dancing in sync, multiple guards attacked but they were stronger than them, moments after, archer guards started shooting at them.

Zet used his powers to make a wall to protect them from the arrows, but with that, his knives disappeared.

Kipo : huh ?

Zet : archers.....plan B.....why don't you go have fun with them.....they seem bored.

Kipo smiled, she then turned into her wolf form.

Sarah saw that there were 2 others inside, she pulled out her knives and started sneaking around, she didn't make a sound, it took her a bit to find a red flamingo, when she saw it she saw the two other mutants trying to feed it, she then stood in front of them, they noticed and immediately got scared.

mutant 1 : whoa !.....who are you ?

They then saw her knives.

mutant 2 : please don't kill us.

mutant 1 : we don't have anything to give you.

Sarah wanted to kill them, her hate for all mutants was still in her heart, but she didn't, because she knows that Kipo wouldn't want this.

Sarah : leave.

The 2 mutants left the building and started running away in fear.

Sarah then saw that they were feeding it, she then saw that she has a name written on her cage.

"Aya"

Sarah : hey Aya....how are you...listen.....we need to leave from here.....can we do that ?

Aya then made a happy sound, Sarah understood that this is her approval, she smiled at her.

Sarah : alright.....let's go.

She started breaking her cage open.

Kipo was fighting the guards coming at her, while Zet was protecting her from the archers.

After moments, Zet saw Sarah breaking through the ceiling and riding a red flamingo.

Zet : Kipo....look !

Kipo then saw her, she turned into her human form again and started running away from the fight with Zet, while Sarah was attacking the archers, after moments, she picked up a bow before she left the area.

She saw Kipo and Zet running away from the guards, she lowered herself to pick them up, they then got on it and flew away from all of the guards, this mission was a success.

Later...

They have just come back to the tent.

Leo heard a loud bird sound, he got out to see it.

Leo : oh my god !.....you did it !

Kipo then got down and went to hug Leo.

Sarah : yeah we did....ladies and gentlemen.....I present to you.....Aya.

Kipo : her name is Aya.....beautiful name.

Leo then looked at Zet, he saw the arrow going through his shoulder.

Leo : um....Zet...your shoulder.

Zet : relax....I'll be fine....this isn't my first arrow.

Kipo then looked at Sarah, she saw the bow.

Kipo : and.....we actually stole the bow too !

Sarah : yeah.....now I can use your arrows.

Leo : sounds like this mission went very well.

Sarah : we went off the plan....but it still worked out.

Zet : hey.....I won't let Kipo get hurt.....I said that before.

Sarah : you did the right thing...but we still were lucky to finish it with only an arrow through a shoulder.

Leo : alright.....let's get in....we have to get this arrow out of you.

They then got in the tent, while Sarah stayed with Aya.

Sarah : good job girl.....you did great.

Zet : alright....first...Kipo....break the tail of the arrow....but be careful not to.....

Kipo used her claw's strength to break it, Zet felt the pain.

Zet : TO NOT !...move it....damn it that hurts.

Kipo : oh.....sorry.

Zet sighed.

Zet : alright.....now Leo.....pull it out from the other side....very fast.

Leo : on 3...2...1...

He then pulled it out of his shoulder before finishing the countdown.

Zet : Kipo.....bandages.

Kipo then got the bandages and started patching him up.

Leo : and we're done here.

Kipo : this is the third arrow you took for me......one day these arrows will not miss.....you know that.

Zet : well...I rather be the one who takes it.....I'm not going to let an arrow hit you Kipo.

Kipo then hugged him.

Kipo : thanks.

Zet chuckled.

Zet : always.
