Chapter 35: A date

Kipo and Zet just got in the village Niora is in, they started walking around, they were looking for someone to ask.

Zet : alright....now you have to take off your cape and ask someone for directions.

Kipo : me ?

Zet : you need to do your innocent cute girl act.....trust me....it's effective.

Kipo chuckled.

Kipo : fine....you convinced me already.

Zet : I'll be waiting over there in the corner.

Kipo then started walking through the shops, while Zet went between 2 houses and waited for her, she saw an old woman in a small shop, she didn't look like she sells a lot, she decided to see her.

Kipo : excuse me ?

The old woman looked at Kipo, she stared at Kipo's face, she didn't look happy.

Kipo : hi....can I ask you for directions ?...I'm new here.

The old woman didn't say anything, she was staring at Kipo, she then smiled at her, Kipo was confused.

Kipo : um.

she then opened her shop door, she is inviting her in.

Kipo : oh no...I'm in a hurry...I'll just find.....

The old woman then turned her smile into a sad face, she wants her to get in, Kipo saw her face, the old woman was waiting, she didn't want to take a long time on Zet, but she couldn't leave her like this, she decided to get in.

When she entered the back, she saw multiple jars with different vital organs in them, she started to get creeped, the old woman knocked on a table in front of her, and a kid came from the back.

Kid : yes grandma.

Kipo then looked at the kid, he was about as tall and old as her, he had black hair and brown eyes.

The old woman then looked at Kipo and started talking to her with sign language, Kipo looked back but she didn't understand what she wants.

Kid : she asking you if you'd like some tea.

Kipo : I'm good....thanks.

The old woman sat on a chair.

Kid : you can set here.....she wants to talk to you.....I'm Ron by the way.....and this is my grandma Karen....she can't speak so I'll translate for you.

The old woman started moving her hands, she is using sign language, Ron looked at her and started translating for Kipo.

Ron (Karen) : what's your name young lady ?

Kipo : my name is Kipo.

Ron (Karen) : and where did you come from ?

Kipo : I came from a far place.....too far from here.

Ron (Karen) : are you alone ?

Kipo : yes.....I like to go on my own.

Ron (Karen) : and who's that guy with the cape you've been with earlier ?

Kipo got surprised, she saw Zet.

Kipo : he's a guard.....he was escorting my animal friend.

Karen didn't say anything for moments.

Ron (Karen) : seriously ?.....this is the best lie you can come up with ?

Kipo didn't reply.

Karen then raised her hand and opened it.

Ron : she wants you to give her your hand.

Kipo then put her hand on hers, Karen closed her eyes and started slowly running her fingers across her hand.

Kipo : um....what's she doing ?

Ron : relax...let her finish first.

After moments, Karen gave Kipo her hand back.

Ron (Karen) : you can call him.....I know he's waiting for you.

Kipo is now confused, how did she know ?

Kipo : who are you ?

Ron (Karen) : I'm a soul reader.....you can't lie to me....and I can read your thoughts.....now can you please call him here ?

Kipo then got up and waved to Zet, he saw her and came to her.

Zet : did you find something ?

Kipo : get in.....you need to see this.

Zet followed Kipo, when he got in, he saw Karen, his eyes widened, he didn't believe what he saw, he started tearing up.

Karen looked at Zet, she started crying of happiness, Zet then ran straight to her and hugged her tight.

Kipo was shocked and confused, she waited for him to finish.

Karen started talking in sign language, Zet was talking in sign language too, Zet started chuckling.

Kipo then asked Ron.

Kipo : what are they saying ?

Ron (Karen) : look how much you've grown up....you're now strong.

Ron (Zet): I missed you so much.....is this where you went when I ran away ?

Ron (Karen) : yes.....I had to run somewhere.....I couldn't stay in Las vistas...I decided to start a new life.....as a normal person.

Ron (Zet) : I see you have a kid too.

Ron (Karen) : he's my grandson.....Ron.

Zet looked at Ron, he nodded to him.

Ron (Zet) : you've grown a lot since the last time I saw you.....you barely can walk now.

Ron (Karen) : aww come on.....I still can move these legs.

Kipo had to interrupt.

Kipo : um...Zet.....do you want to explain ?

Zet : Kipo.....this is Karen....she is one of the masters of the temple.

Kipo : what !?.....but you killed everyone !

Zet : I thought I did...but apparently someone was smarter than the others.

Keren laughed.

Zet : she is the only one who didn't treat me like a dog there.....instead she treated me like her son.

Karen started using sign language.

Zet chuckled.

Zet : yeah....she is...and no she isn't.....we're just close friends.

Kipo : huh ?

Zet : she says you're cute.....she's asking me if you're my girlfriend.

Kipo : thanks.....I guess.

Zet : well.....I can confirm this one.

Karen laughed.

Zet : she says you're a terrible liar too.

Kipo : well I didn't know I'm facing a soul reader....whatever this means.

Zet : it means that she can know what your soul is hiding.....your deepest secrets...your darkest memories and feelings.

Kipo : wait....does she know that I'm...

Zet : the animal wonderkid ?.....yeah....that's why she was staring at you all this time.

Karen moved her hands.

Ron (Karen) : so why did you come here ?

Ron (Zet) : this is a long story.....do you want me to tell you ?

Karen nodded in approval, Zet told her the story from the beginning.

Ron (Zet) : and that's why we need your queen....we will end this whole war once and for all.

Karen looked at Zet closely, she smiled.

Ron (Karen) : I'm proud of what you have become.....lightning wonderkid.

Ron (Zet) : I missed you so much.....I'm so glad I didn't kill you.....you're the only one I hoped to survive.

Ron (Karen) : I'm sorry for her...she didn't deserve it.

Zet started tearing again.

Ron (Zet) : it's ok....someone once told me.....you'll never get to the future if you don't leave your past behind.

Zet looked at Kipo, she looked back at him with a smile.

Ron (Zet) : and this is where I found her....my new Kate.

Karen smiled.

Ron (Karen) : she's perfect.....you're stronger now.....don't lose her.

Ron (Zet) : I'll never.....it's me before her.

Kipo was listening to their conversation, she was speechless, every time she thinks she knows how much she means to him, Zet gives her another bigger meaning.

Karen then raised her hand, Zet knows what she wants to do.

Ron (Zet) : you don't want to see this.....I won't let you go through it all.

Ron (Karen) : I don't...I just want to see one thing.....I promise.

Zet nodded, he then put his hand in Karen's hands, and she started reading his soul, she came back to his memories, she wanted to see what happened to him after she ran away.

Karen moved her hands.

Ron (Karen) : who is she ?

Ron (Zet) : this is Sarah....she's the one who took care of me.....and now I'm like this because of her.

Ron (Karen) : did you find anyone from temple ?

Ron (Zet) : no.....pretty sure you're the only one who survived.

Ron (Karen) : did you ever come back ?

Ron (Zet) : I took Kipo and Sarah with me...I wanted to show them who is Kate.

Karen smiled.

Ron (Karen) : wise and brave choice.....someone has to know you.

Ron (Zet) : I guess you're right.....can I ask a question ?

Karen nodded.

Ron (Zet) : do you still have the tea ?

Karen chuckled.

Ron (Karen) : of course I do...I was saving it for you.

Zet smiled, Karen looked at Ron and told him to make him her special tea.

Karen looked at Kipo, she then looked back and started talking to Zet.

Zet : yeah....very...actually....she did the knife dance from the first time.

Karen looked at Kipo, she was impressed.

Zet : Kipo.....she wants to see your wolf form.

Kipo : sure.

Kipo got up and changed her hands and head, she can't fully transform, it won't fit in the place she is in.

Karen then started staring at her with a smile, she started talking to Kipo.

Zet : she says that you are the only arctic wolf in all of your generations.

Kipo transformed back.

Kipo : what animals were the other generations ?

Zet : she says that there were many different animals...the big....the small...the dangerous...the too dangerous....overall.....they were all very powerful.

Ron then came with Zet's cup of tea, he served it to him.

Karen looked at Zet, she's waiting for him to drink it.

Once Zet started drinking it, he sat on the ground, his hair started glowing, his eyes closed, he started breathing slowly, it looked like he's not breathing, Kipo was confused.

Kipo : what is happening to him ?

Karen moved her hands.

Ron (Karen) : this is my soul flower tea.....once it's in the body....it turns into spiritual food.....your soul starts drinking it.

After moments, Zet opened his eyes, they were glowing bright, brighter than usual, Zet didn't say anything, he offered his cup to Kipo.

Ron : he wants you to join him.

Kipo looked at Zet, he nodded to her.

Kipo sat next to him, she took the cup and drank a bit of it, it didn't taste good at all, Kipo started talking, she thought that the tea didn't affect her, but no one was paying attention to her, she started to get confused, she then looked around her, she saw a black and yellow human figure at the end of the room, she went to check it out.

Kipo : Zet ?

Zet : oh....you're here.....yes....this is me.

Kipo looked at him.

Kipo : where are we ?

Zet : this is our soul forms....our bodies are separated now.

Kipo looked at herself then looked at Zet.

Kipo : wait.....why I'm I fully pink.....but you're black and yellow ?

Zet : this is the true colors of my soul.....it became like this with time.....plus....you're not fully pink.

Kipo : huh ?

Zet then put his hand on her heart.

Zet : your heart...it's white....it's your pure spot.

Kipo looked at Zet's heart.

Kipo : and yours is black.

Zet : it's ok...I wasn't like this before....my soul was mostly black.....then I changed colors slowly....and it's still changing colors.....I might end up fully yellow again.

Kipo : what happened ?....how did it change ?

Zet : your soul's color change based on the events of your life....when you're born....you start with you're actual color....and it can color shift either to black or white....my soul was close to turning fully black.....but then your soul met mine.....and it started going back to yellow again.

Kipo : wait...I did this ?

Zet : yeah....see this white heart ?.....this is your soul's heart.....it's glowing white because of you....this what I meant when I told you that you're pure.....you have a white heart....and it can change other souls.

Kipo looked at Zet's half black face without saying a word for moments, he looked scary, but not for her.

Kipo : I think I'm ready to go back now.

Zet : sure....just close your eyes for seconds.....and open them.

Kipo then listened to him, when she opened her eyes, she saw Karen and Ron looking at her and Zet.

Karen used sign language.

Ron (Karen) : you're finally awake.....how's the journey ?

Kipo's head was paining her.

Kipo : how long have we been like this ?

Ron (Karen) : about 5 hours.

Kipo : what ?!.....we spent like 10 minutes.

Ron (Karen) : the time is different for souls.....you don't feel your body or any connection to its world.

Zet : it's ok.....this is normal.

Zet started using sign language.

Ron (Zet) : thank you.....I think I won't need to use it again.

Ron (Karen) : whenever you want it....you know where to find it.

Ron (Zet) : now....can you tell me where is Niora ?

Ron (Karen) : she is in the biggest building in this village....you'll find her easily.

Zet looked at Karen and smiled, she did the same.

Ron (Zet) : thank you.....for everything.

Ron (Karen) : are you sure you don't want to stay more ?

Zet hugged her.

Ron (Zet) : you'll have to excuse me...I have a world to save.

Karen hugged him tighter.

Ron (Karen) : good luck...I know you'll end it all.

Zet nodded with a smile while looking at her.

Ron (Zet) : one day I'll come back to you...after I change our history.

Ron (Karen) : I'll be waiting.

Zet looked at Kipo.

Zet : alright Kipo.....let's go.

Kipo and Zet then headed to the door while Karen stayed in her chair.

Just before he got out, Zet looked at Karen.

Zet : goodbye.

Karen looked with a smile and tears in her eyes.

Karen : I love you....son....goodbye.

Zet smiled.

Zet : I love you too.

Zet and Kipo then left the shop.

Zet looked at Kipo, she was looking at the ground.

Zet : Kipo ?

Kipo : huh ?

Zet : are you ok ?

Kipo : yeah yeah...I am.

Zet : so what do you think of Karen ?

Kipo : she seems like a good person...I'm glad she survived all this time.

Zet : yeah....me too.

Kipo : you said she's one of the masters.....then why is she a good person ?

Zet : the masters may be heartless.....but that is not for everyone....the other masters were treating me like their loyal dog that will probably do anything they want....but she was the only one who treated me like a normal kid....she didn't look at me as a future lord.....I consider her as my mother.

Kipo : but why didn't you tell me about her before ?

Zet : I don't want to bother you with stories of my past you'll never care about.....I mean I thought she was dead all this time.....just didn't want to bring it up to you.

Kipo : look...I want you to tell me everything you want to....I'll always be happy to listen.

Zet chuckled.

Zet : alright....I'll try my best.

After they walked for minutes, they stopped in front of a big building.

Kipo : so she's in that building ?

Zet : yeah....she should be.

Kipo : let's go.

They headed to the big building, it looked bigger than any others, many guards where were standing everywhere around.

Kipo : how are we going to get in ?

Zet : we need to find a reason to meet her.

Kipo : is us being wonderkids enough.

Zet : yes....but we need to not grab anyone's attention.

Zet looked up at the sky, it's going to get dark soon.

Zet : it's getting dark....we need to find a place to stay in for the night.

Kipo : we can just find a place here and set our tent.

Zet : sure.

Kipo looked at Zet, he was still wearing his cape.

Kipo : you know you can remove your cape right ?.....we're safe here.

Zet : I don't want anyone to recognize me.....if one person could....I don't doubt that she's not the only one here.

Kipo : and here we go....Zet being paranoid for no reason.

Zet : you know what....fine...I'll take it off.....but watch how we're going to fight someone because they recognized me.

Kipo : yeah sure.

Zet looked at the sky, it was clear, he just realized something.

Zet : hey look.....the sky is clear....and it's about to be dark !

Kipo : what does this means ?

Zet : this is a sign that the aurora borealis is tonight !

Kipo : great !....let's go find a place now.

Zet : it's better if we find a high place.

Kipo : and where would this be.

Kipo and Zet started looking around, and then they stopped their vision on the same place, Niora's building.

Zet then looked at Kipo.

Zet : are you thinking the same as me right now ?

Kipo : you mean watching the sky from the highest place here ?.....yes I am.

Zet smiled.

Zet : let's go.

They waited the night to come, they wore their capes and started jumping on top of buildings, they were blended by the darkness of this night, no one was able to see them, they reached the queen's building and started climbing it.

After moments, they found a place to set on top of the building, they had a clear view of the whole sky, Zet was excited to show her this beautiful event.

They lied down and started looking at the sky.

Zet : are you ready ?

Kipo : yeah....is it this good ?....even you're excited.

Zet : yes....you'll see....it's going to be my first time too you know.

Kipo : alright.

After minutes of waiting, the sky started showing lights of different colors, green, blue, purple and yellow, Kipo and Zet were looking at the sky, they were both speechless, they just looked up at the sky, astonishing wavy lines of colors were moving through above them, they have never seen something this beautiful.

After moments, Kipo looked at Zet, he was amazed by what he's looking at, she kept staring at him, he didn't notice.

Kipo : this is beautiful.

Zet : yeah....it is.

Zet then saw her, she was looking at him and blushing, she got closer to Zet.

Kipo : hey can I ask you a question ?

Zet : yeah.

Kipo : when we were with Karen.....you said that you're ready to lose your life before you lose mine right ?

Zet : yeah....I did.

Kipo : did you mean it ?

Zet : of course I did....your life is worth more for me than my own.

Kipo then moved her head closer to his, she wanted to kiss him, but then she remembered the first time she tried this, she then backed her head slowly, Zet noticed what she wanted to do, he leaned his head towards her and kissed her, Kipo was surprised but happy, her hands wrapped around him as she kissed him back, her hair started glowing.

Kipo looked into his eyes, he was blushing too, he looked into hers, they started laughing of happiness, they talked at the same time.

Kipo and Zet : I love you.

They laughed more.

Kipo was so happy with what happened, she kissed him again, and Zet was happy to do the same, they were still hugging.

Kipo : I need you.

Zet : I need you too...I'm lucky I found you.

Kipo : no...we're lucky to find each other.

They looked back at the sky, Kipo rest her head on Zet's chest, she was hugging him still.

She never felt this happy, Zet finally accepted her.

Kipo : remember why you didn't kiss me back the first time ?.....you said that you were the problem and not me.

Zet : yeah.

Kipo : well.....I want to be a part of your problems.

Zet chuckled as he hugged her tighter.

Zet : maybe I have problems.....but I know I found their solution.

Kipo smiled.

Kipo : I love you.

Zet : I love you too.

Niora : alright love birds.....you have 5 seconds to tell me how you got here before I slit your necks.
