New house

"For how many days?"

And now came the scariest moment. The moment when Adelard clearly realized that he didn't know at all what was going to happen next. He didn't know what would happen in a day. Or if he would be alive in an hour. He didn't know anything. The future, for the first time, was unclear and ghostly. And he didn't even have hope, faith. He had nothing. But something made him say, "I need a room for a week."

"You have money, don't you?" the woman asked incredulously, scrutinizing his face too closely. "Although, if you don't have any money. Then I know how you can pay me," she continued and lifted her skirt up slightly, showing her slender legs.

Adelard, without any judgment, but with anger nonetheless, held out the money to her. "Is this enough?"

"Yes. But there's more than enough."

"Thank you."

"I like you. So, I won't cheat you. Follow me," she said, running her finger down his cheek. "And you have a very quiet baby. Doesn't cry at all."
