47 Sokka's Diary

Sokka didn't really know what to think of the avatar.

The grand avatar. The person who was supposed to take care of all of their problems. The almost divine person who was supposed to end the war.

Instead, they got a child.

A very naive and good natured child at that.

There was nothing wrong with a good natured and naive child. No, in fact, that was great. Sokka wished he and Katara could be as optimistic and naive about the world.

'But I can't help but selfishly want him to grow up quickly.'

He didn't want to take away Aang's chance to grow up. He didn't want him to skip his childhood.

But, it was his duty. His responsibility. Aang had to do what he had to do sooner or later.

He sighed as gazed at his sister's and Aang's peaceful sleeping faces. Aang had to grow up so that more children could have peaceful faces like that.

'Hopefully, people on the Northern Water tribe not only teach them water bending, but also help him open his eyes.'

''With tomorrow, we will be flying for 2 days straight guys. Our food and water won't last forever.'' He talked to himself, knowing they were asleep.

''Trust Appa and have some faith. Also, go to sleep.'' mumbled Katara.

He closed his eyes as he smiled and fell asleep on Appa's back.

---------------

''There it is!'' Aang yelled out with excitement and happiness evident in his voice as they were escorted into the Northern Water Tribe.

'It's nice to see some hope just a night after some depressing thoughts.' Sokka snickered to himself as his sister watched her surroundings obvious in amazement.

'Damn.' he thought as he watched a blue eyed, white haired girl with a perfect face went past them in her small canoe.

'Maybe even I can gain something from this place.'

-----------------

They were welcomed warmly by their brothers and sisters at the Northern Water Tribe. It was almost a small festival with all the food and the important people gathering.

'It feels good to be appreciated.' he thought as he clapped along with everyone after the tribe leader finished introducing them.

''We also celebrate my daughter's sixteenth birthday. Princess Yue is now of marrying age.'' tribe leader introduced his daughter.

Behind him, a beatiful girl with a perfect face came. She looked as if the gods and spirits carefully sculpted her face. She looked not only elegant, but also beautiful.

'Marrying AGE!?' Sokka's eyes widened as his imagination went wild.

''Thank you father.'' said the heavenly beauty ''May the great ocean and moon spirits watch over us during these troubling times.'' she finished.

'Close your mouth Sokka, you're gonna catch a flyyy.' he reminded himself and regained his composure.

''Now Master Paku and his students will perform!''

Sokka focused on the delicious meals they provided while Aang and Katara watched the performance with wonder while clapping their hands vigorously.

He quickly gulped down what he had in his mouth as Princess Yue sat next to him.

''Hi there, Sokka, Southern Water Tribe.'' he said while deepening his voice.

'Always works.'

------------------------

So, turns out Paku is a sexist asshole, and my date... escaped me??

Will anything make some sense in this place?

----------------------

*Whip*

'Oh shit! She really did it! There you go sis!'

I'm somewhat angry that she decided to attack a master water bender and the best teacher Aang could find, but screw it. He was an asshole anyway. Aang can find someone better.

''Fine! You want to learn how to fight so bad?! Study closely.'' he snapped back at her as he gathered water around him.

My sis ran towards him for some reason and obviously got hit with a big splash of water.

She landed on her feet but in a matter of a second, she got surrounded by water.

''Don't worry, I am not going to hurt you.'' Pakku taunted with, clearly mocking her.

She stopped the water's course and deflected it to- OW SHIT

''Awh!'' I screamed out manly as the water carried me out of the spectator's place.

'What a great day...'

----------------------

So, this Yue girl is confusing me now.

First I thought she couldn't like me because I was merely a peasant from an almost dead tribe.

Then she kissed me, making me both confused and happy.

Then tells me she's engaged!

'I don't know if I should be happy or mad! Why did you even make me think I had a chance if you were engaged?'

...Well, at least Aang and Katara are having a good time.

That old guy Paku finally accepted Katara as his disciple and forgave Aang.

Now, they're both learning under one of the best water benders in the world. And apparently, they're making good progress!

I knew Aang was a genius since you know, he is the avatar. But learning my sister was a genius as well was great for her confidence.

Until now she never had anybody but the avatar to compare herself, so her self-esteem and confidence in her water bending was quite low. She tried to hide it, but of course, how could she hide it from her ultra-smart brother's eyes?

''Don't even think that you can leave me behind with your 'oh so great genius' sis! My boomerang arts will be recognized as a new form of bending in the future. Believe it!''

''Yeah, yeah sureeeee.'' she drawled out, rolling her eyes.

''I believe in you Sokka!'' Aang bellowed out from the behind.

Ah, thank you, Aang. I knew I could always trust you to back me up with your optimism.

But... why do I have a bad feeling?

-------------------------

'Why?! Why does the fire nation need to destroy everything just when things were looking good for me!?'

It was perfect a day. I took Yue up to the air with Appa.

We were having a PERFECT moment, until it started raining ash.

Ash. Fucking ash from their ships.

I explained it to the confused Yue,

''Soot. I've seen it before, right before my village was attacked.''

''But why?'' Yue asked in confusion.

''It's the fire nation, they've closed in on the North Pole.'' I said somberly. ''And from the looks of this stuff, I would say there's a lot of them...''

[I always thought that Sokka was goofy on the outside only for the sake of team. He's low-key really smart and gets serious when he needs to get serious. His goofy, idiot, comedic relief, act was always something for sister and the team. Or not and I'm just overthinking lol.]
