2- Helpless

The heavy night clouds started to spread apart allowing the bright sunlight reach to the ground and illuminate our sight. I was still thinking about the scream and I walked back to my apartment. Right when I got inside, I picked my phone up and there were twelve missed calls with voice messages. I had not been out that long. My fear got triggered right away, and before I could hit the dialing buttons my door started knocking aggressively. "Open up!" a male voice stormed from outside my apartment. I got anxious out of nowhere. Fear started dripping down my body making my limbs shake. I went straight to my front door and it was Rony soaked in blood and a female with him. His right eye was already swollen over and bloody spit drooled from his slack jaw. He was revolting that time finally letting the outside reflecting the man within him. The female walked up with bloody mess and passed out on the floor. Her every muscle seized up and Rony was helpless.

I locked my front door and peeped through the window to make sure no one was following them to my place. Rony was struggling to speak this time. It seemed like his last words would be his strong and aggressive demand to let him open my front door. Bloody hands can come of a killer or a medic, a healer or a villain or a rescuer. My hands were soaked in blood already, and I was trying to put some pressure on the female's wounds to stop the bleeding from her wrist. My heartbeats were racing against time. It seems like I'd be apprehended with two bodies inside my apartment, guilty in first degree murder and not being able to see the sun light ever again till my last breath. Wild thoughts took full control of my body and it stranded me. The peace that was inside my apartment abandoned me as soon as I let Rony inside. Chaos took over and I started trembling. My tongue was locked and everything I did was involuntarily after my adrenalin rush hit. I kept asking what happened to them, but neither one of them were able to give me the answers I requested.

My clock hanging on the wall was ticking. My heartbeat was faster than it'd ever been. After I cleaned their wounds, and did the proper first aid I dragged them into my room and carried them into my bed. The female's wrist was sliced but not too deep where I can't control the blood flow from her veins. I have patiently waited for them to get up for over five hours, but there was no hope. The total silence inside my apartment started haunting me after a few hours, and then I left a note on the door and went to get some meds from the closest pharmacy. As soon as I parked my car outside the pharmacy, there were a missing person's pamphlet all over the walls and light poles. The moment I realized the missing person was inside my apartment, it felt like a strong grip crushed my ribs and held my heart tight. I was unable to breath normally. For anyone who'd notice that time, it'd been easier for me to get picked up from a million crowds. Before I could get apprehended by the law enforcement, fear and anxiety chained my legs together.

"Have you seen this person?" an unexpected question came from an older lady. "Uh-huh..." I was confused and my mouth replied involuntarily. After a short pause, "nah, this is very unusual in Caspalina,". I stopped as she opened her teeth giving me a dark smirk.

I drove back to my place after I picked up some antibiotics and there were three police cars roaming around the neighborhood. My first thought was, 'somebody must have seen them.' I unlocked the door and got inside my apartment and it was empty. I looked around the bathroom, but there was nothing but a hand written message on a piece of paper saying 'don't come around looking for me. Rony'. With total confusion, I read the paper over and over hoping the words to change and give me a direction to where ever he was. I picked up my phone to call him, and it sent me straight to voice message. I left several voice messages and drove to his shop and it was closed. Such a bizarre thing.

This time my head was shallow. Every thought that ran into my mind was making an echo giving me a severe headache. I stood in my living room, standing with the meds in my hand. My brain was foggy, unable to move and think properly. My world started crumbling right in front of my eyes, my vision started getting hazy and the bright sunny day turned into a winter night to me. I stood by the counter and picked my phone up and before it started ringing, two police officers were already in the door step knocking at my door. With a total shock, I went to open the door.

"Hi, I'm officer Martin and this is officer Trevor..." he pointed his thumb to the second police officer who was standing next to him. "there has been a report from one of your neighbors that there was an unusual ins and outs of your apartment earlier today, and it appears to match with the person of interest. Do you happen to know anything about this female?" he pulled out a picture the missing person.

My heartbeat could have been seen if I was not wearing my coat that evening. I looked to the other officer and replied, "Nope! Never seen her in my life,".

"Let's cut to the chase sir. We have surveillance and witnesses. Don't just waste our time, and tell us where your friend Rony took her?" He sounded like he was knew everything that took place in my apartment. A new terror has filled every organ inside my body. My lips forgot how to move and my tongue was dry, unable to moisturize my mouth and let the words get out the way I wanted them. Confusion and rage took place at the same time and blinded me. I still had so many questions to ask, but I thought the police were right to make me the prime suspect.

"Aight then, you're gonna have to come with us sir if you're not cooperating" officer Martin started taking out the handcuffs from his little pocket in his belt.

"I don't know anything about what you're talking about, officer!" Before I could close the door, I found myself tackled down to the ground with my face against the ground and officer Trevor put the handcuffs on me. I was shocked and horrified, and I tried to scramble rise from the floor. They threw me on the backseat with cuffs in my hands, and I was driven to the closest police station.
