Chapter Eleven

What a beautiful day, says Sandra to her husband, "We in Antarctica honey, what is so attractive about cold weather says Fred?"

We could always move down to Your family, looking out of the window up at the icy mountain, someday my wife, I will take you across the sea.

"I so wish to see your hometown says Sandra as she folds the blankets starting out the window."

Fred stretches as he looks out of th window. It is this time of the year where we celebrate thanksgiving, yes, speaking of which today is the fifteen, and we have not done Christmas shopping.

When would you like to go to the shops, honey?

Sandra looks over at Fred. How much money are we having?

"Enough to celebrate Christmas he replies as he walks over to his coat and takes out a few hundred dollars."

Fred was working in a clothing store as a salesman, and Sandra knew even though he was earning a minimum wage, he always provided her with everything.

Is it OK if we do the shopping today? Sure says free turning on the radio.

"Breaking new, there is an outrage with a deadly virus in the air. We do not have much information on it. Stay indoors. We urge do not to go outside."

Sandra looks over at Fred as free stares back at her. Where are the Kids? They are both outsides. Fred is about to open the door, the two kids open up the door "I was just about to come look for you says Fred"

Mom and Dad Say, Kelvin, you have that worried look. Are you okay? Jessica then replies, that's a parent. As they now enter the house, a cold breeze blows into Fred's face.

Sandra looks worried as she looks at Fred, do you feel sick, kids? No, says Kelvin and Jessica, why would we be sick. They then turn on the radio and hear the person speaking, closing all ventilation and windows. Stay indoors.

"Fred covers the ventilation and closes the window as he starts having a light cough." Honey? Are you okay?

Fred turns and looks at Sandra. I am fine. The kids are playing a video game in their room.

Fred can sense something is wrong his body feels hot suddenly, and it's cold outside.

Fredrick, you look pale. Are you sure you are okay?

"I am fine, just feel a bit, tired honey."

But you just woke up? Yes, maybe just another hour's sleep will do me good.

Sandra knows this is unlike Frederick but leaves him to be, "he then walks to the bathroom and turns on the shower on cold, as he stands under it, Sandra takes him a towel, as see the water coming out is hard water."

Do you want to get sick? She snaps! Turning off the shower as her arm brushed against his arm, she felt his body temperature was abnormally hot.

She takes the back of her hand and places it on his neck, feeling his temperature.

We need to get you to a doctor Fred. Taking the towel from her, he coughs and covers his mouth with the towel. Julia notices blood on the towel after he cough.

You are coughing out blood, says Sandra. We need to get you to the doctor now!

You can't, my love, he says they said we should stay inside.

"Please go check up on the kids to see if they are fine."

Sandra walks to the kid's rooms, fearing the worst.

But to her relief, they are fine. She then goes back to the shower to let Fred know they are okay.

Fred is lying on the ground, foam out his mouth with blood, his right arm over spread out, and his neck is swollen.

"No, she screams as the two kids come running im. What happened to dad? Sandra covers his face with the towel as she leans over his body, crying helplessly, nine days before Christmas. The kids are also crying.

Sandra covers their faces with a mask as she drags his body outside. He is dead. We can't risk having his body decompose in the house.

"Sandra picks up the telephone to call the hospital, but she is unable to get through to any extension."

Looking over at Kelvin and Jessica, who are 15 and 16, she needs to protect them and stay strong for them.

She is worried they have become in contact with the virus and continuously check if their temperature is acceptable.

Nightfall, hearing the wolves outside, is used to it, but this is the first time they listened to the wolves so close to her house. Sandra shines the torch through the window.

She sees a pack of wolves pulling Fred's body into th forest as she starts crying.

Jessica and Kelvin are upset that their Mom left their dad's body out there. Decompose even though she explained why she was doing what she did.

Sandra walks over to an old book cabinet and comes across an old dusty book that her grandfather has written called you to know variant.

It was written in the 60s. Sitting down by the candlelight Jessica and Kelvin lay on the floor close to their mom. They drifted off to sleep crying.

The front page of the book said you would find me when you were seeking answers.

Sandra page through the book, and it was about the invisible virus that was killing millions of people, but their symptoms were different from what she had witnessed with Fred.

People's symptoms were sick for weeks before they died until she paged to the middle of the book saw the envelope.

"It read to the one who finds this the vaccine to the unknown variant would be within those chosen one."

Confused, Sandra read the line a few times and could not understand it. She laid back as she struggled to keep her eyes open.

She drifted off to sleep with the book in her hand.

She held on to the kid's hands in disbelieve Fred was gone when she just spoke to him this morning.

We are fighting, and the invisible enemy snapped Royal. Why has Julia's family not returned home?

Jack hesitantly answered they could not risk going outside as three men had died when they took Robert and Kathy.

Royal looked over at Thomas. Did you get me why I asked for it?

No Sir, it has been 18 hours you gave us 48 hours,

" I asked you a simple question it was a yes or a no"

Royal was frustrated and knew there had to be a vaccine.

He then turned to Jack, when you took these two, Robert and Kathy, we were they were any mask? No sir.

Then why have they not gotten sick?

Boss, the virus was not as dangerous as it is now. It's spread within houses across the world. Our safest place right now is inside here.

Are you saying I won't go home?

No, Boss, what I am saying is you are safer here inside.

So now you get to tell me what I can and can't do.

Royal sits down, looking at the monitor, and looks at Kathy and Robert in the holding cell. Why are those two still kept captive?

Putting them in one of the rooms, Royal now looks closer at the monitor; what is that she is playing with?

It's her white teddy bear sir, does it have red lights for eyes, "Jack walks closer to the monitor, trying to figure out what Royal is seeing"

Kathy's eyes are red on camera. Maybe it's just the camera lens, Sir.

No then why are her dads' eyes OK? Jack and Thomas look closer and notices Kathy's eyes are changing color. Is it just me seeing this says Royal is standing up.

Could you take me to their cell? Thomas and Jack lead him to the cell. What is it you guys want, Robert? Is it money? I can give it to you. Robert sees Royal moving his face closer to Kathy, "you leave my daughter lit of this he snaps I will kill you with my own to hands."

Shut him up, says Royal as Jack enters the cell before other soldiers punch him in the stomach. Kathy screams, leave him alone as Royal stares at Kathy's eyes color change as she becomes angry, her eyes changes red.

Interesting, says Royal, bringing her up to the Lab Thomas looks at Jack, " It will be a waste of time, sir, they useless to us. Yes intervenes Thomas Jack right.

I said, bring her to the laboratory; why must I ask something twice? When I lay a command, I expect you to carry it through. If you can't, I will find someone who can.

We can Sir says Jack. as he takes Kathy's hand unexpectedly, Robert takes his pen in his hand and stabs Thomas in the neck as Thomas holds his neck, the guard's guns down Robert as Kathy screams, trying to save her dad Jack grabs her hand dragging her to the Lab. Thomas was anyway a useless person, so good riding to lousy rubbish, says Royal.
