Terraria

A wave of color washed over me as I was transported to the starting city. This is it, the city of Terreria. The colors had faded and I was standing in a beautiful, medieval city. I could see a tavern in front of me, a weapons shop down the road and a market off in the distance. I began to walk off when I heard someone call my name. I look around and see a figure running towards me.

" Kai, Kai, thank goodness you arrived" the figure, who I recognize as Sam due to him looking the same as in the real world, said panting.

" Oh hey Sam, how's the game," I asked.

" It's fantabulous as far as I can see, but come on, the ceremony has already started, it' almost finished in fact" he replied.

" Ok then let's go," I said running off.

Sam eagerly followed and soon we reached the town square where a crowd was gathered.

" Once more I bid everyone a warm welcome to DragonCrest Online, as leader of the team that created this game," said a tall man wearing robes. " Now, I hope that you all enjoy the game and so now I bid you farewell."

Everyone applauded him and he bowed elegantly before vanishing in a puff of smoke. Sam looked at me with an exasperated face and I lightly shrugged apologetically. He rolled his eyes and I patted him on the shoulders in an effort to disregard the disappointment.

" Alright Sam, I think we should start using our usernames to be on the safe side," I said cheerily.

" Yeah, I guess," Sam replied. "I'm Zero, a Xerxian Dragonblood, and you are?"

" I am Xanathos, Karachi Human" I stated boldly.

" What?" Zero exclaimed.

Yeah," I said.

I pulled out a character sheet and show Zero, then he started nodding.

" Ok, fine, just don't hurt yourself," he said grinning. " Karachi's aren't exactly well known for their resilience. But I guess martial arts with a side of magic is sorta cool. So anyway, what's your weapon?"

" Hmm, I haven't thought of that, but I guess I'll use my fists and feet" I mused. " Nothing like a good old fistfight"

" Ok hotshot, let's go grind some exp" Zero said.

" Yeah let's roll" I roared.

################################

The first area on the map was Greenhorn Forest, which was where the beginner monsters were found. The game developers ensured that each plebeian would be able to grind enough experience points to survive the heavier fights, which is why we have this meat field.

As we walked towards the forest I could see a wild boar walking around. I stopped Zero and showed him our target and he nodded, leaping skyward. I rushed at the boar and swung my fist into its face. My fist crashed with a solid thud and caused one of its horns to break off. It squealed in agony, with there being some sign of shock also, and in the process, it slammed its huge head into my gut.

I cried out in pain and I saw a flaming spear crash into the boar. It shrieked in pain and I coated my hands in blue electricity and punched it as hard as I could. The electricity surged through my punch, ending the squealing and causing the boar to combust into white dust. The flaming spear flew up into the air I saw Zero appear and take it. Relieved that it was him, I stand up and stretched as a window pops up before us.

Experience gained

Xanathos - Was Level 1 Now Level 3

Affinities gained

Brawling Affinity - +1 to Strength and Dexterity.

Zero Was Level 2 Now Level 4

Affinities

Jump - +1 to Stamina and makes the user jump incredibly high.

Fire Affinity - +1 to Intelligence and +1 to fire resistance and enables the user to cast low-level fire spells.

Awesome, so I guess that with this system you level up and raise base stats but you can train in a specific area of your stats to level it up more whether it is Strength, Stamina, etc.

Bam! I punched a wolf in the side of its head and caused it to slam into a tree. Then Zero charges in.

Spear Art: Typhoon Stab!" Zero yelled.

He started to spin mid-air, going faster and faster until he was a blur of blue speeding towards the wolf. Then finally he stabbed the spear into the wolf and killed it.

Level up - Xanathos Lvl 5

Zero Lvl 7

" Wow, that was quite the workout, eh Xanathos" Zero said wearily.

" You could say that again" I sighed. " Let's go back to Terreria"

" Ok, just give me a minute to get my bearings" Zero replied. " What loot did you get"

" I got a wolf paw and tooth, and you?"

I got a fur poncho and some fur" Zero said. " So what about the body, cause I don't want it and its fading."

" I'll take it and sell it so that I can get to buy a weapon, like iron claws," I said.

" No problem, I have 500 dracs so you keep the money from the wolf" he replies cheerily.

I looked at my current dracs and saw 200 dracs there. I shrugged and picked up the heavy wolf and slung it over my back. Zero looked back at me and I nodded, motioning for him to lead. He started to walk and I followed, gazing at the lush greenery around me. The sun was setting and its orange rays leaped through the leaves of the tree canopy. I could hear the screech of an owl in the distance and the roar of some mob that was probably too strong for us currently. The trees gently rustled their leaves in the barely noticeable wind, bidding us a sad farewell. Soon the pathway betwixt the trees came to an end and we scrambled over a fallen tree to arrive at the town outskirts of Terreria. Zero told me that he was leaving but we should form a party so that we can contact each other. I clicked on the confirm button and his face popped up on the virtual screen under 'Friends'.

Zero ran off then jumped and soon vanished out of sight. After he vanished I set out on my first order of business, selling this wolf. I consulted my map and saw that a monster trader was up ahead. Seeing as all the shops were closing, I quickened my pace to arrive at the Trading shop, in which I saw a muscular woman.

I told her my name and my purpose of business while holding up the wolf for her to see. She admired the wolf and offered me 200dracs for it. I accepted it and gave her the wolf. She put away the wolf and gave me a satchel with the 200dracs. I bid her goodnight and farewell while making my way to an inn that I had recently passed. The town was still alive even though most places were closing. Taverns were still running, with the rowdy calls of adventurers filling the night air. Adventurers were walking the streets also with their companions, most plausibly nibbling at this morsel of beautiful night scenery. I shook my head slightly to focus as I arrived at and entered the inn.

Good evening good sir, would you like to stay for the night," the innkeeper asked me.

" How many dracs is it for a night," I inquired.

" Only 12dracs a night" he replied.

I paid the fee and he directed me up some creaky stairs in the corner. I made my way to the top and into the first room I saw. I crept into the bed and soon I fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up to see buttered toast and a steaming cup of tea on the table in a tray. I pick up the toast and bite into it. It tasted spectacular, and I took up the cup and sipped some of the tea. As I ate, I saw a virtual screen pop up.

Health and Mana restored.

I hadn't even realized that there was a Mana gauge also. I examined the blue bar that had MP beside it. After I finished eating, I decided to go and grind a few levels.

This time I was going alone so that I level up quicker. But before I leave,it would be a mighty fine idea to head to the Library to gather information on about other topics that I might not know.

According to the map, the library was the large building two shops down from the Trading shop. I ran down the street quickly and soon I arrived at the Library with a pop-up in front of me.

Stamina up 1

Dexterity up 1

Wow this game is too awesome. I looked up at the huge building which looms over me. I then stop staring and step inside. When I entered, I observed a number of adventurers scanning through books and scrolls, with a rather aged librarian sitting at a desk.

" Welcome adventurer, what would you like today," the Librarian asked.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that most business owners, for example the monster trader, innkeeper and the librarian are all NPCs or rather, Non-Playable Characters, meaning that they are programs, not humans.

" Well I would like some books on the basic skills and jobs in this and other towns" I said thoughtfully.

" Ah, yes. Right this way then" she said motioning for me to follow.

We wove through a mass of players before reaching the right bookshelf. She handed me a dusty book, off which she blew the the grains of age, and a scroll. She then pointed at a table where she said I could sit and read. I gave her my thanks and went over to the table.

15 minutes later....

So after 15 minutes of reading, I found out a couple of things.

You can bring materials to a blacksmithing shop to forge weapons/ armor, or you can do it yourself if you have access to a forge.

You can get quests by asking at an inn or tavern or someone can give it to you.

You can create your own skill but the game still gives you default ones

Linking skills makes them more powerful, and if linked correctly, you can create a Unique Skill.

Special attributes can be added to weapons or armor by using specific materials for example using a fire crystal on armor boosts fire resistance.

I was elated that I came to the library or I would not have known that I could craft my own armor and weapons. Then I remembered that I was going to grind some exp so I gave the librarian the scroll and book then run outside. I looked at the sky and see that it was still bright. So I sauntered down the street heading out of town. I stopped by the weapon shop and bought my iron claws and when I equipped them, I ran out of town with my trench coat billowing behind me.

After searching for 2 minutes, I stumbled upon a pack of Werecats who were attacking a player. The girl was backed into a corner but she didn't show fear. Then one of the Werecats slashed her arm and her dagger fell to the ground. Seeing her in trouble, I jumped in before the Werecats and held up my fists.

" EARTH SHAKING STOMP!!" I yelled.

I leapt up in the air and fell downwards with impressive speed. Then I hit the ground causing a powerful shockwave which sent the Werecats flying. Some of them hit into trees and were stabbed by branches which killed them, while the others just hit the ground.

" Thanks for helping, I'm Claire" The girl said.

" No problem, I'm Xanathos" I replied.

" Cute name, I think I'll call you X" she giggled.

" X, I like it" I said.

Then WHAM! I was hit by one of the Werecats who changed from purple to red, which I guessed was due to getting agro. Claire picked up her dagger and started attacking the Werecat.

" SONIC SLASH BARRAGE!" she said.

She started running at a super fast speed which I have to say was awesome. She ran up to the Werecat and slashed at its face, arms and chest. The unfortunate Werecat tried to hit her but she just dodges every time. Soon the skill ended and all her Mana was depleted so I stepped forward and tell her that it's my turn.

"PROPELLER SPIN!" I shout.

I extended my clawed hands and started to spin. As I picked up speed, I realize that I was slowly pulling the Werecat in towards me. I could see it trying with all its might to not get near the claws. Soon the red aura around it got pulled into my vortex, turning it in a bloody scarlet. Then with most of its strength gone and mine increased by his agro, he was pulled into the vortex of blades which shredded it into a pile of meat, fur and bones. Then when the other cats saw his defeat they scampered off.

Then when they leave, I slowed down and stop spinning. I looked at Claire who had a look of surprise on her face.

" What?" I asked puzzled.

" You just stole a monster's agro!" She exclaimed. " How did you do that?"

" I don't know, all I know is that I tore it with my claws and it came onto me" I said.

" Wait, did you link any of your skills" she asked.

" No not yet, why"

" Then that means you created an ability just by fighting, it must be because you were trying so hard to pull it in, so the aura was pulled in and you tore it causing it to leak onto you," she quipped. " Check to see if you have a new skill"

I looked at my skill screen and sure enough there was a new skill called 'Ripper'. Apparently, this skill allowed the user to disable almost any buff and use it as their own and it was unique, meaning only I would ever have it. Then I noticed the level up box.
