"So, how do you feel about your first day in Chaldea?" Ria asked with a cheerful tone. "Same for you, niece."
"Chaldea is like home in a certain way," Mordred replied truthfully. "Well, in a way this shows that this humanity is less-developed than the one from our dimension. This is our standard, yet this is their highest technological display."
"We weren't there. And wars were more intense than back home," I pointed out with a calm tone. "Plus… Well, magic deteriorated a lot."
"That stinks. I mean, I can understand how it happened, but it feels so..."
"Silly?" Ria suggested, only to be met with a snort from her 'niece'.
"I would have said 'fucked up', but that works too," The 'younger' blonde replied with a giddy grin, already expecting a long sigh from me.
"I might be in my younger form, daughter of mine, but my willpower and the wooden paddle remain unchanged and I will show you this if you start getting potty-mouthed during our stay here."
The threat got a loud nervous gulp from the girl, and I knew that it was good enough of a threat to put her back to a more polite outlook. I never exactly punished Mordred… until she committed some serious disaster. Like destroying a building by finding some explosives or painting pink-colored turds on her room's door. All of this happened while she was younger than ten, with most of that behavior lessening until the crass language started to 'replace' what was lost. She was no saint, but she was still keen to not go too far with her comments.
"Still… pops, how are you taking it all? You haven't answered Auntie."
A good point, especially since it allowed her to shift the conversation away from the paddle threat. I took a moment to think about it since it's been quite the big day and I saw many faces, talked with numerous individuals and noticed a few… well, missing.
"I guess it was a nice day. But… I kind of miss Mya, and I wonder if she will end up being summoned too."
"Aw, dad. I bet mom will come out soon just to give you the hugs that you've been missing from her," Mordred teased and I hummed.
"I thought you were the one that wanted a hug from her before the start of big fights, now were you?"
That silenced her as a massive blush covered her face. The bantering gained a giggle from Ria as she mirthfully watched it unfold without getting pulled into it as she knew how that would end poorly on her side. Still, just as we were still chatting about this very matter, I couldn't help but notice that there was a group of Servants just chatting at the end of the hall. They looked to be a happy family, quite unusual to imagine a whole family getting summoned like that but, that seemed to be the case and… I couldn't help but notice that some of them looked quite similar to Mya.
Einzberns? I think that was indeed the case, but they looked distinctly different than my wife both in physique and age. I barely glanced in their general direction so that I didn't appear like a creep, but as we passed near them, someone spoke a few words I was familiar with and that managed to freeze me up due to those. I was minding my own business when I suddenly heard her talk.
"Oh, hi honey~!"
I stopped instantly, turning to look at the origin of that greeting and… my jaw dropped at who I saw waving at me quite happily.
…
…
"Mya?"
The young woman hummed and nodded. "Yes, dear. I didn't expect you to be around this soon."
"...How long have you been there?" I asked, my shock hardly abated as I tried to find help from Ria and… the blonde was confused as I was.
"Mom?" Mordred finally recovered. "I thought- we thought you hadn't been summoned yet."
The woman giggled. "I suppose I can't blame you all for thinking that. After all, I spent most of my time since I came here to address Iri and her lovely family."
The woman in question waved nervously. "Hi."
I scratched the back of my head. "Still, you could have… you know, tried to look around for us."
"I did try," She whined a tiny bit. "But there was no one there other than so many versions of Ria, and I also tried to see if there were others too, like Scathach- which there are three versions from what I know… even though two are the same individual but with only different class and outfit."
That sounded quite weird but still I decided to focus on the main core of the problem. Mya had been there for a while from what I could tell and she explained how she ended up with Iri and her family, getting dragged around by the pure amusement tied to that group of people. The Emiya Family, called so as Iri was married to 'Assassin EMIYA', was technically related to us through Iri… and Kuro. When I picked the surprised tanned girl up, the teen spared me a frown and looked left and right before proclaiming a single word.
"Grandpa!"
My lips twitched in amusement. "I think I'm way 'older' to be your grandpa. Maybe super-great-grandpa or something like that."
Mya giggled at that comment and the 'smaller version of Iri', her daughter Illyasviel, seemed to approach with a nervous look.
"I-I'm so sorry, she teases a lot and-"
"It's alright. No harm done, plus… she sure is focusing on something else."
I wasn't sure why, but the tan child nuzzled onto my shoulder, enjoying the cuddling a bit more than the actual conversation from the looks of it.
"Is… is it alright that you're hugging her like that?" The third child, Miyu, inquired with a skeptical tone.
"Well, I'm quite sure we're still family through the Einzbern connection. So I guess it's alright if it doesn't go too far," I argued with the young girl and… I saw her look at the entire scene with a hint of interest. "Wanna go up too?"
Her eyes widened. "N-No?"
Yet it was clear both her and Illya were interested in taking part in that big hug, so I raised an amused eyebrow to press them both a little bit and soon I was making an effort to keep them all balanced without falling down. Things were mostly calm until something further adorable unfolded before my own eyes. Iri gave me a curious and mostly innocent look before asking something specific with a single request that melted my heart on the spot.
"Can I call you Dad? I never had one, so..."
My jaw dropped and without hesitation, I nodded. "Yes."
Kuro giggled at the response, the reaction infectious enough to take over with the rest of the girls despite the slight embarrassment of poor Illya at being brought in that particular circumstance. It definitely became a burdening task when a fourth element jumped at the opportunity. Another Illya, a bit 'taller', but still fairly young and wearing some Eastern-Siberian outfit. The hug tower shook as its stability was uncertain before the monumental duty of keeping four petite girls in my hold and…
Then I was tackled on the ground by the overjoyed woman, the men staring in surprise and sheepishness at the development while Mordred hummed in amusement, almost matching the rest of the girls' amusement at the sight.
I smiled contently at the situation, ignoring the slight pain coming from cushioning the fall for them all. That was something I would never go against, enjoying some quality time with family, both close and expanded. And as I happily enjoyed this glorious day with the Emiya Family, a certain Servant spied from afar, her main personality surprised when the body she was using had stopped working properly because of the individual she was staring at.
Red eyes narrowed and she huffed a few locks of violet hair away as the confused woman kept on peeping on the heart-warming scene.
