Chapter 89: Lifeline

"Are you feeling better?" Max stayed at Terrence side the whole time that he was asleep. He is both worried for Terrence and Mia.

Among the six of them he is the one closest to the two, especially to Terrence.

"I know that you would rather stay quiet but we all know that situation" then he just grabbed a bottle of water and gave it to him, "Don't keep it to yourself like what happened before."

Terrence drank the water that Max gave him, and stared into nothing before he started talking "I didn't realize that I already betrayed Mia when I decided to take the matters into my hands"

Every mistake that he had done in the past 4 years are all coming back to him right now. It was as if his life from that point played like a fast-forwarded movie in his mind.

"Now that I know what I have done, I can't reach out to her anymore, I can't face her anymore"

Max can only sigh looking at Terrence, He pity his friend, his brother.

I could have been easy to forgive back then but both of them decided to take another route that to talk.

Mia shut downed and decided to wait for Terrence to make a move while Terrence decided to calm the situation first and lost the perfect timing that he was waiting and waited 4 years before he can muster his courage to fix this mess.

Too many things have been sacrificed.

They have lost so much in this.

"Why now Terrence?" then Max turned to the window and saw kids running in the streets. He just smiled bitterly. "Why just now?"

Terrence can only smile bitterly and reached out to his bedside cabinet. He took out his old phone that they taught went missing.

"I saw this way too late" then he gave the phone to Max. sure enough the phone's wallpaper is a stolen shot of Mia while working. "Open the messages."

When Max opened his messages, he saw that the most recent one came from Mia, dated 2 years after the incident.

It was as if Mia was still communicating to him, telling him what happened to her day, still ranting everything to him even without a response.

It was for a whole 2 years that Mia messages him every day.

The last two messages broke his heart

[I don't know why am I still doing this, I know that you won't be able to read these messages, I don't even know if this number is still at service or somebody else is already using this receiving these weird messages from a stranger's number but it was the only thing that I could do to keep my hope alive that someday you might find me, if you still want to find me. I can't think of a reason why you did what you did but I do believe in you. I know that you won't do anything without a reason but I also have my limits and I don't think I can still go on…]

[I do love you and I still love you but I can't go on, I am for more damaged than I'll ever be but I want you to know that I don't regret loving you. I am tired…]

What Max couldn't believe is that it was the same date as Mia's accident two years ago.
