When he noticed her staring at him in horror, he quickly placated her.

"Oh, don't worry. If that happened, she would no longer have any control over me, so she won't do it easily. She might be akin to a demonic witch, but she is also cunning and manipulative. Since your mother is no longer around, your suffering in her place is more than enough for her, so you don't have to worry too much. Besides, she wants her 'beloved grandchild' to take over, so she would be directly connected to three big families. Her brother was in charge of one, her husband of another, and now her other son, and by extension, her grandson, was in charge of another. It will stroke her unnecessarily huge ego that she has done nothing to deserve.
