The Relationship of the Two Kingdoms

Well rounded, almond-shaped eyes with thick eyelashes, broad forehead, a pointed nose, and full lips. Hena's skin was honey in color and her hair neatly flowed up onto her chest.

The dress she wore looked too beautiful and lovely, with pink and white being the highlighted colors. Just one look and one would think she is a noble vampire, a queen, that will reign the East Kingdom.

Or maybe, that would be her future as well.

"Lady, would you like me to tie your hair into a bun?" a servant asked. Hena turned her head and saw the maid fiddle her hair. She looked extra pale, had red lips and fangs that reminded her where she was at that exact moment. "You have such smooth and silky hair humans have," she remarked. "I've never seen one before."

Hena cleared her throat and glared at the servant, "You're treating me as if I am a clown performing at a circus." She exhaled, "That makes me feel uncomfortable as hell."

"I apologize for my rudeness, Lady Hena," the servant lowered her gaze on the floor.

Hena clearly hated everything in her room, and even how she was treated. She was formerly a princess of the North Kingdom, there was no way for everyone to treat her like a normal rich human being!

"But I must remind you that not until you produce an heir for the king, you're nothing more than a parasite on our kingdom."

"Did you just call me a parasite?"

The servant nodded, "Yes. Half vampires are nothing more than a parasite in our kingdom.." She trailed off, "But servants like us are treated the same. I want to be your companion, ally, and spy at the same time."

This woman appeared familiar. And Hena was fascinated by her guts. This was a one time offer for her and it would be great for her to acquire an ally as well.

She can always throw her aside whenever it feels like she's getting suspicious.

"Well, then," A half-smile appeared on her face as she slightly raised her chin. "Tell me everything you know."

Without brushing her hair, the maidservant grabbed all of her hair starting at the front near the princess's face and collecting all your hair into one hand. She gently held her hair and wrapped a hair tie around it.

The vampire maidservant had long nails but she never scratched the princess's face with it. She attached ornaments to her hair that made her appear fancier, just one look and you could already determine how expensive they are.

"What do you want to know more about, Princess Hena?" asked the maidservant in a low-pitched voice. "Tell me and I will reveal everything."

"I want to know more about the East Kingdom and its relationship with the North Kingdom." Hena said as she lowered her voice. She fixed her eyes on the mirror in front of her. "Tell me more about their history."

"Well then, let me do the honors," The maidservant beamed as she gracefully patted the princess's hair. "The North Kingdom had prospered so much and the East Kingdom used to be poor. They didn't know how to mine gold or know how to prosper the place they had acquired. With the East Kingdom's king decades ago, the North Kingdom prospered so well."

Hena was put into a thought. She had always heard from her father about how he never really mentioned the East Kingdom as his ally. He was so preoccupied with the South Kingdom's years of aggression that he never really considered asking help from them.

No, his father already did ask for help before he died. And that was the main reason why Hena was alive right now. She was reminded of the vampire prince who saved his life earlier.

"Was that the reason why vampires never tried to invade any of the human kingdoms?"

"That's right. They showed their genuine gratitude towards them." the maidservant replied and eventually praised her. "You are definitely perfect for mind games, princess."

"I am a princess, the future queen and ruler of the North Kingdom." Hena replied with a cold gaze. "I had to be at least quick-witted. But I still have to figure out the prince. It seemed that he doesn't want to consummate our marriage and just wanted me to be his plaything."

The maidservant had a mysterious smile on her face as she nodded. "Palace Politics would be much more interesting with you in the game," the maidservant responded in a low voice. "Allow me, your servant, Claire to be your one and only ally."

The princess furrowed her brows as she questionably stared at the maidservant.

"The first thing you do, princess, is to stay low."

"Stay low?" echoed Hena as she stared at Clair's reflection on the mirror. "I have to get on track fast before the South Kingdom totally claims my kingdom."

The raven-haired beauty nodded as she said, "I know that it's important for you to act fast. But it would be too risky."

"Risky?" The princess couldn't believe her ears when she said it. "I would risk my life for the royal family bloodline, my loyal subjects have already suffered as much."

"It might be counterintuitive but the prince was just after your well-being. It's important to lay low, and just stay in the palace first before the official announcement of the prince acquiring a human partner. Vampires outside of the palace, noble vampires living outside the capital, who have been eyeing the position for a long time might target you."

It made more sense now. It might not seem like it but, the crown prince of the East Kingdom really seemed like someone she could trust. Or at least.

The princess had no one left to trust, anyways. Her choices were limited. And she had to choose what was in front of her. If this girl's words are true, then it would be best for her to stay low first and plan for the next steps.

Not knowing her future ahead, Hena took more time to blend in more to the palace by taking etiquette classes and other things the queen had require her to do so.

But since she was already a princess, it took her no time to finish all of it.

Hena knew she didn't have to let her guard down. These people might seem like they care about her, but most of them are just using her for their own personal benefit.

'Never believe a person blindly, Hena Montly,' she though to herself. 'You only have yourself to believe.'

And that started the revolution Hena wanted for herself.
