Chapter 13

As far as the public knew, this beautiful medallion bathed vampire goddess that walked right out of a young teens sweet fantasy, was the most powerful master class vampire housed in the state of Delaware.

Even the humans in castle Dupont gave way to her demands!

As one of the more outspoken and progressive vampires she was even featured in a number of magazine and news articles. Dark hair, immaculate nails, and red serpent scaled tattoos that covered different areas of her body only highlighted the beauty of her medallion skin tone further.

No one in the media would say she had a cold personality, just that she held a very serious tone in the air around her. Most people found it impossible to guess her thoughts, and she even had a few fan clubs floating around online.

Her ability as master of the city was unquestionable as stated in the media. The territory under her control had virtually no records of vampire attacks in almost a decade's time! In truth there was almost no supernatural crime in her territory outside of the rogue crazed mutant here or there.

Everyone was wondering how she ran such a clean operation! Of course she wouldn't divulge her secrets to the public and having so many satiated vampires to carry out her will ensured that the smaller supernatural groups kept their heads lowered.

Alexiel was very familiar with Cassandra as they had shared many evening dinner dates on the weekends that she was free. Of course as a vampire she had no taste for human food, but Alexiel was fond of trying new things and expanding his culinary knowledge.

With an ever flowing goblet of fresh blood at her side, it was really a win-win situation for everyone. Plus she made sure to give Alexiel plenty of pointers on different philosophical material to digest in his spare time.

When Alexiel looked at his new visitor, he couldn't help but smile shyly. This big sister of his liked to tease him the most, she had witnessed many of his most embarrassing moments growing up and although she never truly made him-self conscious about it, she made sure he was very aware of himself and that it was natural to be curious about things he didn't know.

As a teen, and a very self aware teen at that, Alexiel had spent many nights thinking about the offer she had made him years ago. Even with all this the dynamic of their relationship hadn't changed much and he was very happy to see her concerned about his well being.

"Sister Cassandra, I've troubled you. You're always my greatest support."

Alexiels words were much better than just a 'Thank you'. Cassandra knew how easily embarrassed he could be even if he learned to hide it well from others over time, she still knew him best!

The team of nurses kneeled on one knee when she walked into the room, lowering their heads performing the proper etiquette for their position. Dr. Cali on the other hand only lowered his head and made a cupping sault towards Cassandra.

His position among the vampires was not low.

"Mmm."

Just a slight nod in their direction was all the acknowledgement they needed before they started tidying up the instruments before heading out. Soon the only people left in the room were Alexiel, Cassandra, Dr. Cali, and the sleeping Karlito.

Dr. Cali started

"Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any hidden wounds we missed and his mind has returned to a state of clarity my Lady.

Young master, I would ask that you come see me regularly for the next few weeks for a psych eval just to make sure everything in your mind is in order.

I don't think you need to be held in the sick bay any longer and should be fine to attend school come morning."

Dr. Cali gave a rather prompt summary of his thoughts and threw out a suggestion to Alexiel, which Alexiel had no problem adhering to.

He did look at Dr. Cali questioningly though.

"Are you also a Psychologist Dr. Cali?"

The vampire only chuckled. with so much time under his belt how could he not have done research in various fields. In truth he was a vampire that was more than a few centuries older than Cassandra.

Not that common people would be able to tell, as Cassandra's power far out classed his own. Of course she would never say she was more knowledgeable than him in the different fields of medicine, so it was good to have many different kinds of people in your circle.

"Thank you Dr. Cali I'll take over from here, just leave one of your nurses outside to help release him from the machines after I've finished."

Dr. Cali beamed a pleasant grin and took his leave.

Alexiel was a little vexed by the lack of reply, but he couldn't help how all the adults seem to act so willfully in front of youths. All he could do was sigh.

After the doctor's departure Cassandra came over and sat next to Alexiel on his bed. She reached over and grabbed his right hand finally bringing the gem to Alexiels' awareness.

"You've been keeping secrets from your big sister, little one? I feel sad and left out!"

Cassandra put on a pouting face, Alexiel knew she was being cute for his sake but she wasn't lying. Alexiel didn't make a habit of keeping things from her and he knew she grew attached to him over the years.

There was nothing wrong with her feeling some entitlement to the happenings in his life. I mean when you really think about how much time he spent asking her questions and gaining insight into his own thoughts with her vast knowledge it wouldn't be wrong to call them more than mere friends.

She was definitely like another family member to him. Not just her, but all the vampire's under her shared a very harmonious relationship with Alexiel. Part of it was without a doubt directly related to the fact that they have been drinking his blood and his blood solely for years.

But everyone watched him grow up, and although they offered on any occasion that arose he would always try to show off his independence and the lack of need to rely on them in his everyday life.

To the extent that he made Cassandra order everyone to not go within 100 ft of his home no matter what! He at least wanted his mother and sisters to live a seemingly normal life without being worried about a vampire hanging outside their door everyday.

The first time his mother sensed a stranger stalking outside their home, she called the police! this wouldn't do! What if next time she called one of the marshals to come do a survey of the area!

Alexiel would feel terrible about any of the vampires putting their safety at risk for himself, and as a child he really had no clue of the dangers of the world outside of what was shown on the news, most of which happened in foreignn states so he never really felt endangered on too many occasions.

Friday evening had been a real eye opener for him, something that really made him rethink everything prior to this point.

"Sis, don't be sad. It's nothing intentional. You know me, if i had such cool abilities before wouldn't you be the first to know?"

Alexiel leaned forward and rested his head on her shoulder making it so they could both see the gem in its fullness.

He continued

"You remember the friend I was telling you about? the one with a terrible reputation and scar on his face? Well our plan worked!

I succeeded in healing him! What's even more miraculous is that our abilities are crazy compatible!

During the healing process it created some kind of chain reaction that pushed our mutations to the next level! even now we haven't been able to fully explore our new limits and the many new skills that came with the jump in level."

The excitement was visible on Alexiel's face. As a youth growing up in a world full of powered people, even more so growing up beside vampires, how could he not dream of having cool strong powers of his own!

Even in the face of danger he rushed forward full of confidence in his new found strength, unfortunately cold water was swiftly poured all over his ambition seeing his father in that horrible state, but his true spark never diminished!

Alexiel wanted power, he wanted to be strong, for himself and everyone he cared for!

Cassandra seemed relieved hearing Alexiel's full recap of Friday's happenings. she listened intently as he retold her everything from skipping school, to completely losing his rationality at the sight of his father.

Towards the end of his recap she noticed the waves of power rolling off of him, there was a tingling that swam up her back, around her neck and then traced along all the sensitive parts of her body one by one.

His display of power didn't frighten her in the least, instead she found her breathing picking up and an excitement growing from the deepest parts of her being. It was almost intoxicating just feeling him go through so many emotions in close proximity!

Cassandra's attachment to him grew by a few notches just in those few moments.

When Alexiel had finished recapping the story and began to calm himself down she also brought herself back to clarity. It wasn't that Alexiel was so powerful that he was exercising some kind of control over her but more simply that she hadn't been shielding herself from him in the first place.

she took a few moments to recollect herself before she finally spoke.

"So what you're saying is,  sister shouldn't be jealous of your friend right? That you just hadn't had a chance to come see me and tell me your big news?

This is something that we've been talking about for the last few months so sister knows you're being honest. I'm just a little regretful for being so late on the come up.

But sister is very happy that you returned to all of us safely, what would we all do if something happened to you. The entire kisses heart would be broken and we would have to go into a fiery life or death battle with whomever dared cross us!"

Alexiel was on the receiving end of surprises this time, as Cassandra's blood lust leaked out when she mentioned the bastards that kidnapped his father!

Alexiel nodded but held a very stern serious face recalling his fathers misery.

"Sister, I'm sorry for my childish demands from before. I see now that I am very ignorant of the real world.

This time…

I'll be the one to ask."

Alexiel moved his hand to hold onto hers and met her eyes head on.

"Will you accept me into the Kiss as the human servant of the master of the city?"

He lowered his head and motioned to bring her hand to his forehead as a sign of submission. but right before contact was mad he could no longer pull her hand any closer to him. This action was not what he had expected so feeling a little embarrassed, he met her gaze once more.

What he saw was a sweet smile and eyes full of tenderness and love. This sister of his really held a soft spot for him in her heart. This sight gave rise to even more confusion inside Alexiels heart.

"Is sister holding a grudge?"

Like a cute little brother he took this chance to tease her back for once. Of course Cassandra could hear the hint of embarrassment in his question, which made her break out into a radiant smile.

She held their gaze for a second longer and finally shook her hed.

"No of course not, that is what we all wish to hear the most. If you had truly been one of us the werewolves wouldn't have been able to say their kidnapping was none of our concern.

But is this something you really want? I've only lightly explained its meaning to you over the years but I'm sure you caught the nuances and understand this is not a simple role, or an empty title.

You will have to grow into your responsibilities seriously and take on the needs of the Kiss.

Would you still join us even if I wasn't the real master of the city?"

Alexiel`s mind shook greatly!
