"Why are you staring at me?" I asked, chuckling nervously as I paused in the middle of my dramatic explanation of the intricacies of CGI in movie production.
"I like people that talk intelligently. It's fascinating," August replied.
Blushing and tucking a braid behind my ear, I said," Thank you. I thought I had something in my teeth for a minute there."
"No, you do have something in your teeth. I'm just more focused on what you were saying." Feeling self-conscious, I grabbed my phone to inspect my teeth to which he gave out a peal of boisterous laughter.

He continued laughing even as I reached across the table between us to slap his arm.
Roots seemed like a normal restaurant to me. Not to brag but it was like the average restaurant where there were menus and hosts that I'd visited with my parents in Lagos.
