"Won't you take gari with you? What about palm oil?" My mom asked as she stuffed dried fish, spaghetti, macaroni, yam and plantain flour, cornflakes, milk, cocoa powder, and a bunch of other provisions and foodstuffs into a giant bag.

"Mom!" I whined.

"You know that they'll charge extra at the airport if the bags are too heavy and I can't carry liquid on the plane!" I pointed out.

"You need palm oil! It's good if you carry everything from here instead of going there and having to buy everything from scratch.

"By the way, your father will cover the extra charges. He has money to spend on his other woman so why won't he spend it on his daughter? Please pass the gari!" She hissed in the typical Nigerian mother fashion.
