Sam has come prepared this time. They dash off back to the truck and return, triumphant, with a Hebrew-English dictionary clutched tightly in their hand. "Man, I wish I'd paid more attention in Professor Sandbach's classes," they say as they settle down to translate.

About ten minutes later, the text is ready. You all gather round as Sam reads out their translation.

"They who wish to follow the way to the abode of the Sons of Light

Must break the Four Seals with the hammer of their understanding.

The First Seal:

The whelps of the Fourth Beast fall upon the land. From these ends of the earth they come.

The Second Seal:

In the Tabernacle's final days, hearken to Jesus ben Ananias's cries.

The Third Seal:

The penitent man entering the Holy House must look first ahead, then turn his eyes left.

The Fourth Seal:

Enoch our Father saw a river of fire and a prison for stars; then he returned to Paradise."

"What the hell are we supposed to do with that?" asks Esme.

"It's a riddle," says Sam after a moment of reflection. "Think about it: four seals must be broken, and each couplet is a clue. The answers must be directions, which you input with these buttons. It's a—a combination, designed to make sure that only those with the right kind of learning can figure it out."

You sigh deeply. "OK," you say. "Let's do this. Remind me: what's the first seal?"
