You finish your meal and gather up your plate and utensils before heading over to the kitchen to wash them. Your mom joins you a minute later as you're putting them away and asks, "Are you going to meet any of your old friends?" You pause, uncertain how to answer her before you say that you haven't contacted any of them yet.

"Oh, I'm certain they would be quite excited to see you. Now, what were their names again? Alex and Lamia?" your mom says, trying to remember their names. Sighing, you shake your head and tell her that their names are Alejandro and Lamesha, although she was pretty close to getting their names right. You tell her that you haven't contacted them yet because you're quite certain that they're having their finals for their university examinations to prepare for and that you don't want to disturb them.

"Well, I'm not buying that line. Give them a call or just text them if you think you're going to bother them while they're studying. I'm sure they don't mind if you actually tell them that you're back in Zawame." She gives you a sharp stare and you shift uncomfortably; that was a stare that always made you uncomfortable no matter how old you got.

Sighing, you promise your mom that you will call Alejandro and Lamesha.
