The whole week came as fast as I wished it would. I didn't contact anyone from the HQ. I didn't see Aaron for a week. I don't think he even bothers checking on me since he has a lot of things to do too. Or maybe he's just somewhere around and didn't bother to come near me because he knows that I will just ask him to go away. Henry is a no-show either. He must've given up on me realizing I have someone that protects me. Had. I had someone that protects me. Someone who made me think that happily ever after was real even just for a moment.
The sound of the engines from the planes flared right to my ear but I'm not bothered by them. A few days of training in SIA helped me control my talent. Stif was good at giving me tips too and her healing talent really helped a lot.
I followed my parents to the VIP gate. The guards that my parents hired pull our luggage while following from behind.
/Sapphire./
I stopped walking. Why is he here?
/Sapphire./ He called again.
It's warm. No, it's normal like the Commander's. It's nothing special. I try to make myself believe the lie. I tried to shake the thought away and continued walking then I saw Aaron and Timothy standing beside the stewardess that guards the gate. He's glaring at me. Is he mad? Why? Shouldn't he be happy? His mission is finally coming to an end.
"Excuse me, passport please." The stewardess asked. She seems hypnotized or something because her smile seems empty. My mother handed her the passports. The stewardess studied our passports when she frowned. "Ma'am, Sir, you'll have to come with us first."
"Why?" my mother asked angrily. "We never had problems before. Plus, this is a Business class flight. We don't get problems here." She objected.
"Please, just come." Timothy must have used his emotion control because my parents finally obliged by following the stewardess in the office after a few more talks leaving me with Aaron. Timothy followed the crowd to control them.
"What do you think you're doing?" Aaron tried asking calmly but he seems to be failing. His voice became stronger at the end of his sentence.
"Following my parents' orders."
"You're leaving the country."
"Their orders. I cannot disobey them."
"I don't get it. Why didn't you tell us? Ton just saw you running away without a word. He warned us." Ton is another Artisan who could see the future.
"Why should I tell you? Are you my new parent?"
"No, but I'm your guard. I'm supposed to know every move you do. The mission, remember?"
"No worries, Aaron. After I leave the country I'll be ticked off from your checklist and all of this will be over. There's going to be one less of a problem on your notepad."
"What are you saying? You're my only mission right now."
"Then good. You're free to go."
"Wow. Then what are we supposed to do with your grand piano?"
"Give it to Timothy. He seems to enjoy it anyway."
"Are you this cold?"
I gasped, "Me? I'm cold? How about you? I'd tried having some talk with you but you always do your best to end it right away. I tried to be friendly with you but you're 'Mr. Reserved' that's why you can't have emotions and all. You seem to be always forced to be with me anyway. And then I'm the cold one? You don't even let me do telepathy to you. But then here you are suddenly calling my name in my head, acting so concerned."
"Because I am."
"No. You're forced to be concerned because I am on a mission and you can't lose me."
"You don't understand. You're not safe to be alone out there."
"I think Henry already had enough. I don't think he would even know if I'm in France."
"I told you he's a human GPS. He'll know wherever you are."
"Did you see who I am with a while ago? Those are bodyguards. There's a bunch of them in where I'll go now. I'll be safe."
"This is a huge joke. They have no match with us Artisans. They're just puny little humans to us. You don't even get it. You don't understand the slightest thing about us. Artisans were supposed to stick together because we're stronger that way. You saw the HQ, you saw how peaceful it was in there because we have each other to keep ourselves safe. But here you are running away from it. What a stupid decision." That's the final draw.
"You know what? I thought it was great to finally meet someone like you," my eyes burst into tears uncontrollably. "I thought, finally someone will stand beside me. A knight in shining armor maybe but, no. It was a mistake."
He just stood in front of me not saying anything. Again, with that blank face of his.
"I felt really complete when you first did telepathy with me." I cried. "You don't know how at ease my heart and mind was that day because of that. Because of you! I thought I was already happy. It was like I'm floating in the clouds or whatever. But no, it was a mistake again. I thought finally my heart and mind will be at ease because that was your telepathic thing that made me feel."
His eyes widened in shock and wonder. He looked at me with so much concern this time.
"But you won't even let me in your mind. I wonder how it would feel if I sent one to your mind. Will you feel the same? No, never mind that thought. You're no longer someone I dream to be with. You're poison to me. I knew that you can't be right, you're just in some trouble. But I wanted an escape from this cold world of mine. Ugh, I thought it was you, you felt so warm in me, vanilla to my mind. Heck, it was all just a nightmare. I hate you for making me feel this way!"
My words suddenly felt like a dagger to him. His mouth is now wide open as if he was trying to say something.
I realized that he was trying to break into my mind and speak to me telepathically again.
I sandwiched my head with my hands as if it's going to do anything. "None of that! I hate that!" I shouted at him. I run away as fast as I can just as I did with Henry during the first time we met. The time he made me feel like I was, finally, in heaven. That was a lie, everything was a lie. I continued to run. Blocking out all the noise around me and not bothering to know where to go.
"Where are you going?" My father stopped me. Even though I know that he won't return it, I gave him a hug and cried.
