We arrived at the airport, losing Henry along the way. A tall, well-toned body, tan-skinned, dark-haired woman walks towards us while holding a rifle on her side.
"Good to see you again, Aaron." She greeted Aaron. Her voice sounded quite assertive which makes sense, she's a soldier. Her dark brown eyes averted behind Aaron where I am standing. "We're looking for you. You know that?" her cold eyes pierced at mine. "I'm Sergeant Nica Ejercio. Nice to meet you."
I nodded my head a little accepting her introduction. "Sapphire," I said I tried to reach for her hand but she ignored it.
"I'm well-informed," she said coldly.
"Who is inside?" Aaron asked.
"Her brother, Hal and family security. Her mother is really an alpha. The General had nothing to say." She clicks her tongue suggesting that she's annoyed with the situation. "The SIA sent a ride. It'll be here in thirty minutes. Lay low for a little while." She said.
"I don't think we have thirty minutes." Aaron placed his hands on his pocket, "Henry is also after us. We just met with him a while ago."
"Henry? Lieutenant Henry?" Nica's brows narrowed.
"I still don't think he's a Lieutenant." Aaron rolled his eyes.
"Stay behind our station. Other Artisans are there too. I already talked to them telepathically and announced your arrival. Be careful. Other soldiers might see you on the way. I can't leave my station unless I am told so."
"We'll meet you another time then," Aaron took my hand pulling me slowly towards the back trying to avoid everyone's eye.
"This is your Platoon leader speaking, a car is heading towards the area. Check it." I heard from a radio in the hand of a soldier standing just right in front of us.
That must be Henry's, I talked telepathically to Aaron.
I thought so too, he replied.
"Copy," I heard Nica's voice from the radio.
We continued hiding behind the track loaders until we reached the back of the airport. Five soldiers met us and let us enter inside a truck.
"You should be safe here until the ride from the SIA arrives." A soldier said.
"Thanks," Aaron muttered.
"Are my parents this mad to send an army?" I asked in disbelief.
"Heads up, the guy has a gun," echoed from the radio.
"Henry's attacking?" Aaron asked. "That's some guts right there." Fighting an army in an airport alone, that is a gut.
"What should we do?" I asked.
"I think we should just wait. I don't think we can do anything now." Aaron placed his arm around me and brushed my hair away from my cheek. I heard a loud engine noise not that far from here.
"I think they're here," I told Aaron.
"Let's wait for Nica," He said. Not a little while, air started blowing things as the plane sent by the HQ landed on the ground.
"Come out now, hurry! We're trying to hold down the other guy." The soldier ordered. "Sergeant Nica said that she'll be coming with you." He added.
We immediately got out of the truck and ran as fast as we could towards the plane but something went wrong. My luck, please go away for a while. The air seems to be pushing us back away from the plane.
"Is the air this strong?" I asked.
"I don't think so."
We stopped trying and just stood on our feet when the air slowly stopped pushing us away.
"Sapphire," a familiar yet scary voice called my name. I turned around slowly and saw my brother standing not that far from us. "Where do you think you're going?" he's dark brown hair is fixed despite the strong air that just hit us.
"Running away for my safety," I replied.
"Safety is right here," he spread his arms. He's wearing his business suit; he must have been forced by our mother to come here.
"No, you don't understand. These people have no match to whom I'm running from."
Not away from us was a sudden explosion.
"How?" my brother's jaw fell down. That must be Nica.
The fire went up high as if acting like a wall and from that soldiers started running towards where we are. In the middle was Nica running towards us faster than the rest.
"What are you waiting for? Run!" she shouted.
Aaron and I followed but as soon as we started running again, the air flew back once more.
"What the…" Aaron stopped me from running as he stopped too. He then turned to face my brother with a despised look.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"It's your brother. Maybe…"
Nica stepped in front of us shielding us from my brother. "What was that?" I feel her eyes narrowed at Hal.
"Not sure yet," Aaron replied.
"Sapphire, you better go back. Our mother's not going to like it if you miss your wedding just because of your safety. The shares are important, you know," Hal tries to persuade me with his selfish mouth.
"How thoughtful of you to think that way," Nica smiled sheepishly.
"Of course, I want nothing but my sister's safety."
"We need to go now or else that guy over there will get your sister. He's under Nero's command. I'm not sure if you're familiar with him but I'm telling you, he's not friendly." Aaron tried explaining with short information. Something exploded again but this time it's closer.
"That's not me," Nica announced immediately. Henry showed up from nowhere and stood not far from me and Hal.
"Who are you?" Hal asked.
"I'm Lieutenant Henry. I'm here to collect Sapphire." He answered casually.
"Soldier, is this one of your men?" Hal seemed annoyed by the disloyalty.
"Definitely not." Nica clenched her jaw.
"What are you going to do? You're just a tracker." Aaron insulted.
"I'm not alone," Henry smirked.
I hope it's not an illusionist. I don't know how we're supposed to fight that one without Ulysses. A guy who resembles his body figure appeared from his back. It's the same guy from before. Aaron squeezed my hand and tried pulling me back a little.
Suddenly, the truck loaders started flying above us. Soldiers that were shocked by the flying objects ran away from the paranormal activity and started talking to their radio informing their generals about the unusual situation. Those who were left stood beside Nica shielding us from Hal—who doesn't seem too surprised by the situation, and Henry. The truck loaders started moving towards us but I guess Aaron was trying to stop it using his telekinesis too as it was slowing down away from us.
"I don't think I could hold on to this longer," Aaron's eyes started to twitch. If our talents are used stronger than we trained for, we could get a major headache.
Nica lifted her gun and started shooting the bad guys. Henry and the other guy moved a little back avoiding Nica's shot.
Aaron fell down on his knees exhausted. More and more heavy things started to lift up in the air. The first truck loader started going our way fast but something shielded us from it.
"Stay back," one of the soldiers ordered.
"Good job, Private." Nica said.
"Are you trying to kill my sister?" Hal shouted at Henry. He doesn't seem really amused; rather, he looked annoyed. His ears are turning red out of anger. He slowly walked near us. Aaron pushed me behind his back protecting me from my brother.
Hal smirked sheepishly. "Relax. I am not sure what's happening but I am not going to let that guy touch my sister."
"Good to know that you're on the right side." Nica stood in front of us beside Hal.
"Let me help you with that," Hal's words confused me as he talked to Nica and to the rest of her squad.
