War of Retaliation I

The merchants were responsible for spreading the word that the Salauster Kingdom was sending troops to the Arannor Kingdom.

Nobody expected things to get this serious. The Salauster Kingdom's prior defeat must have left them with a negative feeling and experience, and the current course of action was a method for them to wash away the recent humiliation.

The Arannor Kingdom had anticipated a counterattack, but not this soon.

Arannor Westian, the King of the Arannor Kingdom, quickly ordered all of his kingdom's warriors and mercenaries to repel the Salauster Kingdom's onslaught.

He also assigned the command of the entire army to the Old General. Regardless of the past situation, he never underestimated his opponent. Despite the fact that he had previously won a battle, he believed that this one was different.

"It's a bit concerning. They couldn't possibly launch a counterattack if they didn't know what they were up against. What were they thinking when they chose to assault my kingdom in order to retaliate for their earlier defeat? Do they have outside assistance? Who will help them if they get outside help?"

Westian was both astonished and perplexed by his current situation. He did not lead the troops himself, instead entrusting the duty to his loyal general.

The more he considered the Salauster Realm's reasons for assaulting his kingdom, the more perplexed he got.

He couldn't think of any other cause for the attack beyond vengeance. On the other side, he saw this conflict as a chance to destroy the Salauster Kingdom.

As a result, he gathered his entire army. Of course, he also dispatched mercenaries or organizations affiliated with him to fight in this conflict. In other words, he went all out as well.

"Richard Veus and Grim Larsson," says the narrator. They were both highly dangerous and matched his strength. Valaunter, I'm hoping you'll be able to handle them both. Valaunter, it all depends on your leadership. If he is not free and untethered from your leadership, the effectiveness of your leadership will be squandered. I'm hoping you'll recall it." Westian was anxiously staring at the ceiling of his mansion. At the moment, his facial expression was also extremely awful.

Two enormous armies moved at the same time, both heading for one of the places with a large and open plain.

The Plains of Verus are the name of such location. A wide area with several tiny hills and a sparsely forested area.

A location that is certainly suitable for use as a battleground, especially with two massive armies.

Voran had no idea that the Arannor Kingdom had responded to his onslaught with a strong army.

He consumed some of the royal alchemists' boosting tablets while commanding the entire army. He quietly gulped the medication.

He wasn't concerned because he was in the middle of an army formation. Furthermore, he placed the noble families' troops in the foreground as well as the rear. This wandering snake shape has two potentially harmful spots.

Larsson, alongside Voran, was the army's strategic planner. No one objected to the appointment and deployment of every army division, including the Noble Families' troops.

Voran ingested more than two strengthening pills after hearing the Royal Alchemist's comments, after which he felt a strong energy propagate and spread throughout his body, focused in his stomach.

"Simply ingesting these three white-colored strengthening pills enhanced my strength. At the very least, this is helpful, but I keep seeing the same pill in different colors. Could the color of the tablet affect its effectiveness? The colors are white, gold, and black. When he gave me a boosting pill, I observed these three colors. I don't have to think about it; I don't have to invent any medicines, and I don't have to know how to use them all. It's alright as long as I use the proper cultivation technique."

Voran kept an eye on the entire formation as he pondered this. Seeing such a magnificent creation with his own eyes made him delighted.

"It's probably best for me not to be on the front lines of an army." I can't be Lü Bu, Jiang Ziya, or Hannibal Barca at the same time. I'm just a regular guy who has been compelled to come here. It's better for me to be at the back and keep an eye on everything rather than becoming one of them. Huft… Even if the conflict hasn't started yet and I'm only in the troop formation, the strain is intense. I'm already feeling a lot of pressure. What happened when the war broke out, then? Now I'm pretty curious."

The journey had been long enough, and Voran spent his free time daydreaming about the upcoming conflict.

What kind of plan will the two sides devise, what type of conflict will this be, and what kind of spectacle will he witness? Every idea he could think of kept circling in his head.

Voran was also interested in the number of troops each Noble Family possessed. Examine the kind of soldiers they have, as well as their strength and equipment. It was not at all what he had anticipated.

Soldiers from noble families had slightly better equipment than the rest of the army.

Not only that, but Voran could sense the disdain felt by every Noble Family.

He had that impression when the higher-ups assembled before embarking on this journey, and he was apprehensive of the Head of the House of Swaster, who appeared to be the Noble Family's leader.

"Swaster Merran... a fascinating and deadly man. It would be a big loss for the kingdom to lose a man like him. Its existence, on the other hand, is as harmful. Unlucky!! This makes me despondent; if only he would devote his life to the kingdom rather than his family. Perhaps he will become one of the kingdom's other cornerstones. What a pity... huft..."

Swaster Merran was compared to Richard Veus as one of the strongest men in the Salauster Kingdom.

He swept across several battlefields with a spear in hand, performing endless deeds that earned him the moniker 'The Bloody Spear.'

He could also command tens of thousands of warriors, and he rose to become one of the Salauster Kingdom's top generals during the late king's reign.

Voran stood back and watched the man, feeling terrible for putting him in such a dangerous predicament, but he couldn't let him live because of his untrustworthy attitude.

"Hopefully, everything goes according to plan; if not, everything will work out."
