NYTI Chapter 01: Rebirth: A Second Chance
Lianne Benedict Monique is staring at her husband, who was the one who left after he stabbed her. She still does not believe that the man whom she loved for all this time would be the one to kill her with his own hands.
When it finally sank into her mind what just happened, she pitied herself. She feels like her whole life is pointless. As her vision became blurry and slowly darkened, she wished to have a second chance to relive
Though he could still hear some inaudible sounds as she felt a hand touching her, she at least felt a bit happy that someone was there with her as she left the world behind. She accepts her death with slight happiness and a great longing for a second chance to live her life again.
"'Miss, can you hear me?" She heard a voice out of nowhere.
Lianne Benedict Monique was wondering if she was hearing things, but then she heard the same voice again.
"Miss, can you see me?" A voice was calling her, and she got confused. Didn't she die? She is wondering if it is some kind of last hope for her. She slowly opened her eyes.
What welcomes her is a shining light that is so bright that right after she opens her eyes, she blinks numerous times to adjust her sight to the brightness.
After a while, she was able to open her eyes properly.
"Where am I?" She asked softly while looking around. It does not seem to be in a refuge since the surroundings are all white.
Before the lady managed to answer, she spoke her mind: "No way. Am I in heaven right now?" she asked with a seemingly happy tone. She was so sure that she would end up in hell.
The lady burst out laughing, but she stopped after a few seconds.
"You're fine. Perfectly fine. Did your brain get messed up or something?"
She tilts her head a bit in confusion and simply smiles in confusion.
"How... how did I get here?" she decided to ask the lady.
She tried to make sense of her surroundings, but she couldn't help but wonder about what was happening.
The lady cleared her throat and began to explain to her where she was and how she ended up in the place.
"Okay, calm yourself down and listen to what I have to say," the lady said, feeling that she must not be back on her feet yet. Somehow she looks like her mind is still disoriented, as she seems confused about what's going on.
"My name is Joy, one of the nurses in this hospital." She paused for a bit and looked at her. She checked on her vitals as she explained.
"Can you remember what happened?" Joy asked her as she tried to stimulate her mind.
She simply shakes her head.
Joy looks at her and says, "I see. You saved a boy child about to be hit by a car, but ended up being the one who was hit by the car. Thankfully, you were not crushed or run over by the car."
A simple "Oh..." was what she was able to utter.
"You are one of the most wonderful people I have ever met while working in this hospital." Joy gave her the sweetest smile she had ever seen.
She writes something, then glares at her again.
"By the way, your things are right there on the nightstand beside you," Joy said, pointing at the nightstand near the bed.
"Okay, it seems that there is nothing wrong with you, so you can get discharged now. Since the bill was paid by the little boy's family, we just need your signature on these discharge papers. Just sign it and give the other copy down at the nurse station."
Joy finally excused herself and left the room. After she left, she spread her vision throughout the room for a few minutes and signed the paper. She checks out the things on the nightstand. She took it and checked on each item on the nightstand. There are not that many, but she accidentally glanced outside the glass window. She froze when she saw her image, then gasped.
"Is that me?" She asks herself as she touches her face. She can't be mistaken; this is how she looked when she was 19 years old. She was reminded of something, and she tried to feel any spiritual power. She was taken aback; it was a mess—the flow of spiritual energy in the body. It took her a while to calm herself and continue checking things out from the nightstand.
One thing after another, she becomes curious about a certain thing. She looked at it for quite a while before deciding to hold it. It was a phone, and then, without realizing it, she found herself pressing the power button. A bunch of memories rushed through her mind, which gave her a painful sensation.
She can't take the pain of letting go of the phone to press on her head. She bit her lower lip to stop herself from screaming, bent, and took her head in between her knees.
A few moments later, the pain was eased. How she saw the memories was crazy; it was just like she was the one who was feeling them. The feelings and emotions—she can feel everything. Lianne has gone through many things in life. Her first memories were when she was 5 years old. She was already in the orphanage in that memory. When she was 8 years old, she was adopted by a married couple that didn't have children despite being together for so long.
She thought that she'd finally be happy with her new family. When she turned 9, just a year after she was adopted, the couple had their own child. Nine months later, the woman gave birth to a boy. Then she was cast out by the couple, and she was kicked out. After leaving the couple's house, she luckily met an old man who adopted her; he took her as his granddaughter and made her attend school. But later on, when she turned 15, the old man died, and his relative claimed everything he owned, and they kicked the girl out of the old man's house.
From then on, she was taken in by an orphanage, but she didn't last there since the orphanage was demolished so that a business could be built there. Just when she lost all hope that she could have a happy family, her biological mother came to her. She foolishly believes her mother's words and lives with her. While it may seem like the girl's biological mother wants to provide a happy family for her, she was not able to consider the possibility that her mother may not have changed or may have ulterior motives for taking her in. She was introduced to her little brother, Justin. As the days went by, the girl started noticing some unsettling behavior from her mother. Small lies and manipulative tactics began to surface, making her question her decision to trust her. However, she couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, her mother had truly changed and wanted to create a loving environment for them all.
She turned 17, and their mother suddenly went missing, fleeing behind a huge debt from chugging alcohol and gambling. She and her little brother, Justin, were left alone, struggling to make ends meet and navigate through the chaos their mother had left behind. Despite the betrayal, the girl held onto that glimmer of hope, determined to create a better life for herself and Justin.
She is currently 18 years old and is renting a small house with Justin while having to work to support both of their lives. She worked multiple jobs to ensure that her family could make a living. Despite the challenges, the girl remained resilient and determined. She knew that education was her ticket to a brighter future, so she enrolled in night classes to earn her high school diploma while juggling her multiple jobs. With each passing day, she grew more confident that her hard work would pay off and provide a stable life for herself and Justin.
Lianne couldn't believe how someone could be so unfortunate, but he was amazed at how diligent and strong-willed she was.
After seeing Lianne Arden's memories, she was overwhelmed by the sheer determination and resilience Lianne displayed in the face of adversity. It was a testament to her character and unwavering commitment to creating a better future for herself and Justin. She couldn't help but feel a deep sense of admiration and inspiration for Lianne's unwavering spirit. She realized that she had shed some tears, so she wiped them. She doesn't know why, but she feels more comfortable.
She somehow laughs as she is reminded that they share the same first name.
After that, she opened her phone and checked her account. She had a bit of money left after paying her hospital bills.
Just as she was told to, she gave a copy to the nurse station and headed out of the hospital.
I can't believe that she is in a totally new world where she has no knowledge about it all.
After three years, she completely blended in. She worked and worked and managed to finish her studies.
On a certain day, she hurriedly left the school after her class and headed to work. She texted Justin to take care of dinner for them as she was forced to work a bit of overtime.
