Aila had wondered what he would look like if he ever did shift. This defied her expectations. He was tall, though not as tall as Tony. His muscles were more defined. He reminded Aila of George of the jungle but he was dark. His skin was so black it was between ebony and obsidian. If there were ever any people that were this dark Aila had never known them. He had especially long hair, it was straight and ended around his knees, tapered along the way as though it had just never been cut.
His tone of voice was always so proper like it was and old English way of speaking. She had pictured a marquis with all the pompous clothes. Instead he had the leather pants that seemed like it was knotted along the sides, a loose long sleeved shirt in a dim color as if well used, and a cloak that was latched in the front around his neck. His jaw and cheekbones were well defined as if to set in stone the strong yet silent man he was.
He stood there simply letting Aila look him over. He was unsure how he felt. he had avoided shifting as it was an unfamiliar form for him. People were put off by his color, the same color they appreciated on his panther form they despised in his human form. He had gotten used to being treated as a show from most people till he met Aila. She had never done anything obvious but she had never shown a want to own him as if he were an object. He had felt so much more comfortable around her than he ever did in the home he grew up. He still had this fear that seemed to come from the depths of is soul that something about his human appearance would be off putting for her. He dared not even look at her as she looked over him afraid to see any distain or fear in her eyes and expression.
Tony had seen Logan this way before, he still could not get used to it. He understood why Logan did not shift. People always looked at him with greed or jealousy, Tony was no exception to this. Logan was unique, handsome and skilled all wrapped up into one package. One of these traits could allow one to go far in this world and yet he had all the above. Tony could also see how lonely the man was. He was envied and treated as an object by all but his mother and even she could not understand him though she did try as she cared for him in her own way.
Through the years he had gotten to know Logan, Tony did grow to be friends with him. He might envy Logan but he didn't let it get to him, he even felt for the guy on occasion. At this moment the silence and staring did grow uncomfortable, so he felt he had to do something. If nothing else they had places to be and the whole point of this was to get a move on. He went behind Aila and nudged her in Logan's direction.
Aila fell forward from the push but managed to catch herself without much trouble. She did look back at Tony who proceeded to huff and roll his eyes. She suddenly realized that she had been staring and wasn't quite sure for how long. She had been so caught off guard she had even forgotten how this all began.
Logan had looked up when he heard Tony move over to Aila. He saw the look on her face. The fascination and the realization that caused her to blush. All his anxiety lifted and he stood in front of her and extended his hand.
"May I" She looked up to see a small smile on his face and she nodded and put her hand on his. He placed it around his neck and swiftly swept her up into his arms. She instinctively held onto him. "Do you feel secure?"
"Ah yes" She was still surprised by this whole situation. She had forgotten to protest against being carried. She felt like his face was a bit too close. She had never liked being picked up. It generally made her feel unsafe, as if she could fall at any moment. She was by no means small, she wasn't at all skinny and she was quite tall. She generally didn't mind until something reminded her that she was heavy, it was an insecurity of hers. She felt well supported, though a little like she was a child, it was a nice change of pace.
They went to take off and the speed that Logan went made her forget any sort of worries about her weight. The wind against her face reminded her of riding a bicycle. Logan's arms wrapped under her legs with his and on her waist and around her shoulder pressing her against his chest. He didn't seem to struggle to hold her at all.
They went significantly faster now that Aila was being carried. They did stop to eat some fruits and jerky along the way. Aila took the first opportunity to as to be carried on his back instead of the way one holds a toddler as it certainly was not a princess carry. Logan found he liked the new style of carrying her and he managed to pick up an even better pace. They camped for a night along the way and the boys took watch in shifts both getting a good amount of sleep. Since it didn't take that long for them to decide to carry Aila they made fairly good time and arrived to the town shortly after noon.
