I refuse to let this go.

SABINE.

I will get back at that horrible bitch for this. The gentle reminder at the back of my mind that informs me I would be working for the rest of my life if I break a single thing in this room is what restrains my violent outburst. I mean what have I ever done to deserve this?! This humiliation! What? A harlot? Harlot? I mean who says that anymore? Even calling me a whore doesn't sound as offensive as a harlot, tch.

I cannot stop pacing, because sitting in place will only increase the rate at which my blood boils in anger. I want to reach out to that beautiful slender neck and throttle it until her head pops out and rolls away on that wonderfully trimmed green grass. I cannot lose this job I haven't even been paid yet! What would I do? Does she even care that people have bigger problems than some measly dress, she is playing with people's lives. My innocent brothers did nothing to deserve this.

"I mean if she wanted to look good in front of the family again as she needed to do was drop the cash. I act pretty well, and I would get extra cash. I could perhaps even blackmail some more from her, but what did she so instead place me in the front line for termination!" I huff, grabbing my hair violently I fluff it about for a bit. Falling on the floor in frustration I spread out my legs and throw my hands about in frustration.

"I doubt he will come this night" I mutter as I spread myself like a starfish all over the floor. "Do I even want him to? It's for the best he stays away from now, I absolutely cannot lose this job."

ASHER

I could not help but fidget as I sat in place, with the weight of my family's disappointment weighing heavily on me, I concluded to keep my gaze focused on the ground it was better that way.

"I am so ashamed to call you my son" my father began the banter, yet my head remained facing south, there was a crack in the tile shall I inform Florence tomorrow? Or later this night? "Are you even listening to a word we are saying, Asher? Isabelle is a wonderful girl and after everything, she has done for this family you had no right to treat her the way you did this evening."

"This cannot be forgiven" my eyebrows raise and I sit up straighter "no I refuse to let this go."

"Grandfather!"

"No! You have disgraced this family this evening and I shall not let this just slide." He says and for a while, the room remains silent, every gaze settled on the bent old man that holds all the power despite the little black cane he leans upon. It took only that moment to realize something, amusement bubbled up inside of me and my lips stretched into a bitter smile, he was trying to punish me. He couldn't figure out how, none of them could how would they?

"If this is over then I will be going to my room" even though he is now looking up at me, his stern presence still looms, but my resolve remains concrete. "I will not marry that girl, you all may believe what you want but not me. I see what you all refuse to and besides, this is my life like she said marriage is not a joke. I lived fourteen years in pain it ends here." The air outside feels so fresh and free, letting out a deep sigh I tug on my tuxedo and walk away.
