Kathryn
Turns out we were just called there to train newbie agents. The others had important things to discuss. What a waste of time. Unfortunately, my bestie didn't feel the same way. He was excited to meet them.
''How many do you think they'll be? 10?20?''
''Frankly, the lesser the better.''
''Oh, c'mon Kat. You're no fun at all.''
''I'm just being realistic. Besides, the agency doesn't recruit like that anymore.''
''You're right. But aren't you excited to teach them everything about the agency?''
''I guess.....?''
I wasn't lying. It sounded like fun just that I wasn't too keen on the idea. I mean it's going to be draining for me since spring and summer weren't exactly my best seasons. Winter is more my type.
We got to the room in which they were waiting for us. We could hear voices coming from the room. I guess they already have friends on their first day. They got nice luck.
I waited for Zak to push open the door.
…
Nothing.
I turned to face him. ''Well, open the door. What are you waiting for? The Apocalypse?''
''You open it.''
''But you’re the one who wants to see them. I’m frigging tired right now.''
''You just arrived an hour ago, besides, you’re good at making dramatic entrances.''
''You’re—wait, is that even a reason? You know what, never mind. I’ll just open the door. You’re already draining my remaining energy with this.''
''Yaaayyy!!!!''
''Were you that scared?''
''No……..''
So I finally gave in and pushed open the door abruptly interrupting what sounded like an interesting conversation. For the second time today, all heads turned to us. Precisely three.
''Hi! We’re your instructors or tour guides, whatever you want to call us.'' Zak spoke with confidence as he pushed me out of the way.
The kind-looking dirty blonde-haired boy rushed towards me helping me up. ''Are you okay?''
''I’m fine. I’m pretty much used to this already.''
He was your typical blonde with blue eyes and a little dose of freckles that made him look cute. Please stop getting weird thoughts. He looked like he would be popular at his school. Come to think of it, they look around our age.
''What’s that supposed to mean, huh?''
''Nothing. I’m just saying that being your best friend has its disadvantages too.'' I said biting back an insult before turning to the boy who helped me. ''Hi, I’m Kathryn. What’s yours?''
''It’s Will. Nice to meet you. And what’s your name?'' he replied as he shook my outstretched hand, his last question going to Zak.
''I’m Zak. Can I call you Willy? I’m calling you Willy.''
''Hahahahaha………don’t call me that. You won’t like me.'' He responded as his eyes darkened menacingly but as usual, Zak wasn’t fazed at all.
‘’Yeah, whatever. So, you two, aren’t you going to introduce yourselves? What are your names?’’
Zak was right. They hadn’t opened their mouth since we got here.
‘’U-u-um, I’m J-jasmine but you can call me J-jaz and this is T-troy’’
Jasmine had hazelnut eyes that would probably shimmer under the sun. Her chestnut brown hair had black streaks in them. Hmm, that’s weird. She looked so innocent that anyone would want to protect her.
My eyes moved to Troy who had jet black hair with corresponding black eyes. But I could sense everyone’s wolf presence except his. Why was he sent here then?
‘’Troy, do you perhaps know why you’re here?’’
I guess Zak noticed too. If he’s not a wolf then he can’t be in our department. In other words, he’s not meant to be here.
‘’Umm, I was supposed to get a tour of the foundation for my newspaper.’’ He answered bringing out a notepad, pen and camera. ‘’I saw these two and figured I’d follow them. That’s how I got here.’’ He put them back inside his bag.
Shit. This guy’s an outsider, we gotta get him out quick. I glanced at Zak and nodded my head slightly, he nodded back.
‘’Oh. If you’re here for the tour then you have to be at the lobby in….I’d say about……30 minutes since it starts at 10.’’ I said glancing at the clock on the wall.
‘’I advise you hurry ‘cause if you’re even one minute late, you’ll miss the tour’’ Zak opened the door signaling he hurry up and get going.
‘’Ah, yes. Thank you.’’
He rushed out taking directions from a passer-by on the way. I’m guessing this gig was very important for him considering the way he was so careful not to offend anybody.
‘’Why did you guys chase him away? He didn’t look like a bad person.’’
‘’Didn’t you hear, Jaz? He wasn’t even here for the job.’’
‘’You’re right, Will. I and Kat noticed he wasn’t even a wolf.’’
‘’Kat…..?’’
‘’That’s just his nickname for me. Zak, do you think Henry knew about this Troy guy?’’
‘’I don’t think so. If anyone found out about the Agency and he knew, he’d be in for it. Even Walter wouldn’t forgive him.’’
‘’I guess you’re right….. let’s just do what we came for.’’
‘’Right. Jaz, Will, come with us. It is time for your training.’’
‘’Who’s the dramatic one now?’’
‘’Umm, Kat?’’
‘’Yes, Jaz?’’
‘’What are you guys going to teach us?’’
‘’That’s a very good question Jaz. Although you should’ve asked me instead of Kat. We’re going to teach you how to reach your inner wolf. Sounds nice, right?’’
Lies. We don’t even know how to do that. We’re just going to teach them Spy 101, History of Werewolves, The agency and other side information.
‘’Is that true, Kat?’’
‘’Don’t listen to him Will. He’s just trying to impress you guys.’’
‘’I am not!’’
‘’You can’t change my mind. Let’s go to the Visual Room.’’
''Can we watch a movie when we get there, please?''
''No Zak, we can't. Maybe after.''
