Chapter 36

Denver’s POV

Shit, he found us.

My chest began to tighten; fear held its grip around my lungs.

“Denver…” She gazed at my shaking hands.

“Are you—“ Then I kissed her, as if it would be my last.

“Denver you’re panicking! I’ll call the—“

“If you call them, I don’t think that we’ll be able to live until the next day.”

“At least we call them.” Wisdom is determined. I cannot see a hint of panic in her eyes. Or maybe she’s just hiding it.

“Wisdom…” I’m now breathing irregularly, fingers still trembling. “I’m just gonna grab my calming teddy.”

“Your calming teddy?” she scowled.

“My inhaler.” Then I sprinted outside the master bedroom. I secretly pushed the emergency button in the wall before I went outside that automatically notified the nearest police station of our current situation.

I went downstairs, careful to not go closer to the main door in case he’s already inside. I tried to remember where I last put my inhaler.
