Jack

Confused and surprised, I contemplated the stranger in front of me, probably an inhabitant of this lost hole.

The first thing I saw were his eyes, as light as moonlight, splendid and contrasting with the blond of his hair, disheveled and damp with sweat.

He was handsome, but he was probably hiding something I still don't know.

He looked at me carefully and asked, Well, what are you doing here? Did you get lost or something?

Perplexed, he continued to stare at me:

-you should get out of here, it's dangerous! he said.

Who does he think he is to give me orders and if I want to come, well I'm coming, right?

-I won't stay long... I tell him, gritting my teeth.

-But I guess that's the saying in Rosenwood, he says as he does his stretching exercises.

-ok....Yes, it's really cold and dark out here. i say.

- My name is Jake.

he holds out his hand...hesitating for a moment, I hold it out as well.

-now Linda...wow, gee...Jake...yeah...says John.

-Yeah, shouldn't you have mentioned him?" said Madison.

- It's okay, he's part of our story, whatever it is. says John.

Outside, the storm was beginning to subside, but the wind was still moaning. The warmth of the candles warms the house.

-So, what happened next? says Jessica.

-So... I will continue my story.

-I've never seen you before. Are you new?

-Yes... he said in a whisper

-Are you just passing through or are you staying?

I shrug:

-for an indefinite time, I guess .... I answer ironically.

-let me guess, you're a little worried about the place? which is definitely not for the kind of girls like you...he says with a smile

I can't believe he said that in such a cold tone.

I reply, You're not from here either?

-What does that mean? Anyway, yes, I'm from Boston.

My family moved here a year ago.

- Why did you come here?

He smiled, What do you care about? Let's just say that Rosenwood seemed like an interesting town for my family.

True, he's a handsome fellow, but he's so insufferable that I'm beginning to hate him.

-Interesting? I answered him by rolling my eyes.

I turn on my heels to go home because it's getting late.

the stranger shouts: life seems to slip through your fingers in New York, and here time almost stops, and you can feel that you are alive...

But how does he know I'm from New york?! it's strange and almost scary, i suddenly turn around: what do you mean by that?!

he laughs and turns around to finish his jogging in the deepest part of the forest...towards the distant horizon, he shouts: goodbye new kid...

ok, he is too weird, him ?!

When I got home, it was already dark.

The moon was shining over my head and the streetlights were lighting up the road.

No people, no cars, alone, I was walking straight down the middle of the road. Walking through my new neighborhood in the dark, it's super creepy like I'm in a scene from a horror movie, endless similar houses lining the neighborhood towards a distant horizon.

I thought, The school year is about to start.

Thoughts of the next day and going back to school were discouraging. again: a new life, new habits, a new city...it was plaguing my head and discouraging me so much...I didn't know anyone, and no one knew me.

All the eyes will be on me, all the judgments.

I hate that vision...ok, well, Jake seemed like a bad boy anyway... maybe the rest of the town wouldn't be friendly at all?!”... ... Jake's memories distract me from the gray reality and the future doesn't seem very interesting now .

I'm going to have to go to school, no choice, says my little head!

My thoughts swirl in my head and it hurts very, very much, but my attention is suddenly drawn to a flashing street light...I was walking along the road.

Jessica interrupts me:

-wait, wait for my side of the stories?

(...)

I stop to look back, wait for it to light up completely, then continue on my way.

After a few more steps, the next lamp began to flicker.

I turned around and saw the one behind flicker and go out.

I took a few steps back to make sure I wasn't dreaming, looking carefully toward the end of the street, and there all the lights had gone out.

Swallowed up by the night, I could see nothing, not even my shadow.

So I ran...
