On the Job

"Thanks.." I said as I received a steaming cup of hot tea from Maya. We sat casually around the circular wooden table that we had bought a few months back. It was nothing too fancy, but the brownish look matched the cosy atmosphere we were trying to go for.

Things were finally getting better for us financially, and in the past we often struggled to make ends meet. In hindsight, moving out together at the start of college was a premature decision, but I regretted none of it.

It was only under Maya's strict budgeting that we could find such a nice place in the suburban district next to the city, which also explained the lack of furniture and accessories in the house. Since our graduation a few years back, we had finally settled into the house without having to worry about next month's rent..
