Forwards and Backwards

*A few months prior*

"Dominic!" Kate hugged me as she got into my room.

"Hey," I quickly moved away from her. Kate looked at me with a confused expression. I started to smoke as the silence between us grew longer and longer. "What's wrong?" she asked. I didn't answer because I had no explanation to give her. "Is it your parents or something?" she insisted. I shrugged and turned to her. "What's wrong then?"

The truth was I was scared. My stomach churned as smoke filled my lungs.

"I don't understand Dominic," she eyes filled with pain. "You do this all the time. You keep pushing people away because you're scared or something."

"So."

Kate sighed,"I can deal with this anymore."

"Then leave!" I snapped.

"Fine then I will. I'm sorry about your parents Dominic but that doesn't mean you need to be like them." Kate left as i stood in my room. I broke down crying until I fell asleep.

This was the straw that broke the camel's back.
