Chapter 87 Permission To Love

After meeting with the Siriporns, Santichai decided not to meet Asnee, he booked himself a hotel room and stayed overnight. He couldn't charge his phone without a charger, so he didn't know if Asnee had called him, or how many missed calls he received from Asnee. Early the next morning, Santichai had already handed in his withdrawal notice to the university. He called Phawta using the University's phone.

Phawta picked up the phone immediately, "Chai, where have you been all night...Pi Nee is looking for you."

Santichai asked, "Are you with him now?"

Phawta said, "Yes, but he went to his morning exercise."

"Pick me up today and let's go shopping," Santichai said. "There's something I want to share with you."

Phawta asked, "When?"

Santichai said, "I'm going home now, you can come over."

Phawta said, "Okay... I will be there in twenty minutes."

He walked out of the university and drove to his apartment complex. He didn't enter the apartment building because it no longer belonged to him, so he stood on the side of the road waiting for Phawta.

Santichai stood on the side of the road for thirty minutes before Phawta appeared. Phawta slowed down and parked in front of Santichai. She rolled down the window. She smiled and said, "This place is so hard to find. I didn't expect these old apartment buildings to stand behind those buildings."

"I'm glad you made it," Santichai said with a smile. He opened the passenger door and got into the car. He fastened his seat belt.

Phawta asked, "What are we going to do today?"

Santichai said, "I've taught you every food Asnee like to eat. You just need more practice."

Phawta frowned sadly, "I hope my food is as good as yours. I do exactly what you taught me, but it's still not as good as yours."

"You'll get there. I've been cooking since I was twenty," Santichai said, smiling at Phawta. "Today, we're going to buy shampoo and body wash. After that, you can make Asnee dinner."

Phawta was stunned, "You mean today?"

Santichai smiled, "Uh-ah, today. Let's go have dinner with Asnee today."

"But I'm not very confident in my cooking skills yet," Phawta said.

Santichai smiled and said, "Don't worry, I think your cooking skills are pretty good."

Phawta started pulling her car out of the driveway. She asked, "What should I make?"

Santichai said, "Make whatever food I teach you. Which of these dishes do you think you are better at?"

Phawta said, "I don't know." She laughed. "It seems like I suck at everything you've taught me."

Santichai said, "Let's go to the supermarket and we can decide what you should make for dinner tonight."

"That sounds reasonable to me," Phawta said.

Santichai and Phawta chat casually on the busy morning road. When Santichai looked at Phawta, he did not have any hatred for Phawta, but admiration. During that time, he taught her how to cook Asnee's favorite food, and she devoted all her attention to what Santichai taught her. She wrote down all the questionable things she didn't understand.

Mrs. Siriporn was also right, Phawta must have loved Asnee. Back then, when Santichai met Phawta for the first time, he didn't take her too seriously, but now, if there is one person, he believes can take care of Asnee, that person could only be Phawta.

When Santichai and Phawta arrived at the local supermarket, Santichai grabbed a shopping cart and Phawta walked beside him. He took Phawta to the shampoo aisle.

Phawta asked, "There are so many shampoos, which brand does Pi Nee like?"

Santichai grabbed a bottle of Cocomilk shampoo from the shelf and said, "Asnee, love this brand." He showed it to Phawta.

Phawta quickly took her small notebook out of her satchel and began to jot down the brand of shampoo. She looked at Santichai and asked, "What about body soap?"

Santichai and Phawta walked to another aisle, and as they walked slowly down the aisle, Santichai grabbed a bar of pink parrot soap. He showed Phawta, "He loves this brand."

Phawta asked, "Why does Pi Nee like this brand. Is it the cheapest brand on the market?"

Santichai put the soap back on the shelf and said, "At that time, when we were in college, we couldn't afford such fancy things, so we used this brand." He smiled. "Sometimes when Asnee runs out of body spray, I wash Asnee's uniform with this brand of soap. Later, he continued to use this brand and refused to switch to another brand."

Phawta looked at Santichai and said, "I don't know the full story of you and Pi Nee, but I assure you that I will love him as much as you."

Santichai said, "I'm glad Asnee has someone like you by his side. I'm also glad you were the one chosen by khun nai Siriporn for Asnee."

"We go grocery shopping, and when I'm done cooking, we can go to dinner with Pi Nee," Phawta said. They started walking towards the food court. "Oh, yes, the doctor said that Pi Nee's condition has improved significantly and will be discharged soon."

Santichai asked, "Really?"

Phawta said, "Yeah, you should know if you pick up your phone. He texted you a lot of text messages last night."

"I forgot to charge my phone and I was staying with my friend last night," Santichai said. "Her daughter is ill, so I have to babysit."

Phawta said, "If Pi Nee is cold to you today, please don't mind him."

Santichai smiled at Phawta. He nodded and said, "You know Asnee very well."

"When you like a person very much, you pay special attention to that person," Phawta said.

After they finish grocery shopping and driving down the road to Phawta's vacation home. As they got closer to Phawta's vacation home, Santichai looked at Phawta and said, "Phawta..."

Phawta said, "What's wrong?"

Santichai said, "Phawta, between now and next Monday, if Asnee and I spend more time together, please don't mind me. Also, if khun nai Siriporn asks you to eat with them, can you refuse?"

Phawta asked, "Why?"

Santichai said, "I just want to have dinner with them and Asnee. It's something Asnee has always wanted. I only have one chance to have dinner with them, but you'll have dinner with them for the rest of your life."

Phawta said, "I understand. I promised if auntie called to ask me, I will say no."

Santichai smiled and said, "Thank you."

Phawta said, "But tonight, I can have dinner with you and Pi Nee, right?"

Santichai smiled and nodded.

"Charge your phone, I have an extra charger," Phawta said.

Santichai took out his phone and charged his phone, "Thank you."
