The Invinurable

One day, the last man on earth sat in a comfortable chair in his hut. As he was tired of his monotonous life, all he did was sigh and sigh. However, one day, his sighs were interrupted by two soft knocks on his door. Knock! Knock!

The immortal did not get up, after all, for him, it was not at all unusual to hear things.

'It must just be the wind.' He thought.

However, in the blink of an eye, this boy of many names found himself in an alabaster world, where all he could see was the white of infinity.

'What's going on?' he thought, a little surprised for the first time in his life, but his facial muscles were too stiff to show it.

"How long are you going to stand there with that bored look on your face?" A thin voice captivated the immortal's ears.

Now, in front of him was a little girl staring at him. Her blue-green hair was parted into two high locks that fell in front of her small breasts.

"Who are you?" The immortal questioned, bringing his right hand to his chin, like an old man. "Another part of myself?"

"No, how disgusting..." She replied, frowning. "I am the Goddess of Destiny."

The boy arched his eyebrows, then squinted his eyes. "Impossible for there to be another God."

"Another?"

"I am a God, am I not, isn't that my curse?" Since even time could not act on him, the boy knew he was not just anyone.

The little girl tilted her head to the right and looked up. "Maybe yes, maybe no."

She was sitting on a throne of translucent flames, whose existence seemed ethereal and inexplicable.

"What do you want from me?" He questioned her.

"Why, I'm just referring you to your next life."

"Next life?!" He shouted indignantly. The immortal couldn't understand why he would have to live another life. "Wasn't my first life boring enough?!"

The girl put her right arm on the armrest of the chair, leaned her head on the handle and smiled, proudly. At that moment, the immortal realized something.

'What were those sensations? Was that... irritation?' The boy's chest was racing, and his vision tunneled from stress.

Because of his invulnerability curse, he literally felt nothing. Now, for the first time in much longer than he could remember, he felt real feelings.

Not understanding what was occurring, he questioned, "What's the price for that?"

"You're really fierce, aren't you?" The Goddess said and corrected her posture. "Well, there are many reasons for reincarnating you, but the main one is because a certain world needs your help."

"What do you mean?"

"Sixteen years from now, a universal threat will appear, and this world will need to be ready by it. I want you to help this world get ready."

The immortal was quiet for a while, analyzing the proposal. "What will the reward be?"

"Hahaha!" The Goddess laughed, satisfied, that the boy seemed inclined to accept. "There will be some along the way, however, that you will have to figure out on your own. Don't forget that there is no way to return here, and you will not be reincarnated again. So, don't forget to live, too."

A moment later, the immortal looked at his hands and saw that it was slowly becoming translucent. He just smiled, satisfied.

*

When he opened his eyes, the former immortal saw a blurred face, and slowly his vision became clearer.

'Have I really... been reborn?' He asked himself, still in disbelief, because minutes ago he was aware that he would live a lonely life for all eternity.

In his past life, he had awakened the curse when he was only fifteen and never aged again. As he watched the people he loved most die, he soon lost the ability to love, smile, or even be scared.

However, now he was feeling a euphoria in his chest and his heart was beating hundreds of times faster than usual.

After a few seconds, in which he could only hear his own gasping breath, the former immortal heard a voice. "Kare wa nakimasendeshita ka?"

"Chi shite kudasai, shōnen wa ore ni iki-gi."

'Is that... a language? It's been a long time since I've heard an unknown language.'

When his baby eyes finally adjusted to the bright light of the surroundings, he could see two people staring at him closely. A man and a woman.

The woman had medium-sized hair, white like he had never seen before and shining like moonlight, and her large eyes matched perfectly with the redness in her cheeks. She was smiling, and her eyes sparkled as she looked at the cute little boy in her arms.

The man had curly hair and was wearing a huge smile as well, his face was very frowny and full of shadows, he made a frightening grimace.

"Naze kon'na toki ni ōrumaito no mane o suru no ka? Hahaha!" The woman said, falling into laughter as she looked at the man, who also began to laugh.

As the grimace evaded his face, the strong man's bright purple eye broke out and became the confirmation the former immortal needed, to say that he was reincarnated, it almost made him cry, but he resisted.

'What is that feeling?' the boy wondered as he felt a force pulling his eyelids down, minutes later. He had felt it before, but it had been too long to remember.

A few moments later, he fell asleep in his mother's arms. His body still didn't have the strength to stay awake for long.

*

Weeks passed since then, and every day the baby discovered more things about the world, but the most important thing he learned was his name: Yudi.

His parents always repeated the same word while looking at him, so it wasn't hard to figure that out. Even though it was a simple name, the little baby seemed to love it, because he always smiled when his parents said it.

Yudi didn't have the freedom to do many things, and he also lacked energy. His fat arms and legs were hard to move and whenever he did, he felt his blood vessels churning, which gave him a deep urge to cry.

'I think my body is still developing too slowly...' thought Yudi.

Slowly, that world inside the apartment was taking shape, but everything was still very difficult to comprehend. There were several machines that he had never seen before, not to mention the conversations between his parents, in which nothing could be understood.

'I still have sixteen years left, but that is very little time to learn everything new... Hmm, what is this here?' Yudi wondered with a television control in his hand.

「Item Analysis... Initializing the player support system. Stand by... 」

A screen appeared in front of his eyes, it was transparent and did not look solid. The baby laughed out loud in surprise, and the mother, who was folding ironing some clothes, smiled back at him, thinking her son was quite lively.

'What is a system?'

「System initialized」

「Installing first operations」

「Do you want to accept the Terms of Agreement? (Accept/Deny). If you accept, you can learn all the features of the system. 」

Yudi saw a sea of letters in front of him.

'Terms of contract? That's something from that Goddess, isn't it? Should someone like me be in the mood to read such things? 'Nah! It would be a waste of time.'

Yudi, with his fat right index finger, clicked .

「Terms of Contract accepted... Initializing Hero System」
