13: Lucy

Wednesday morning, before PT, I found myself in the principal's office. I haven't been called in. Meeting up with the Headmaster is my own personal choice. I absolutely must see him about something. "Miss Heartfilia, what gives me the pleasure?" Makarov asked me. I threw my long blonde hair to the side, cleared my throat and answered: "Sir, I've decided that I won't be joining the beach party this year." He looked at me disappointed. He surely wasn't expecting this revolution. "You shouldn't decide so quickly. Tell you what- if by any chance you still don't want to join your classmates in two weeks' time, I'll gladly take your name off the list. Deal?" I looked at the little man and nodded my head. "Deal, but I can already say in full clarity that I won't be going..."

The rest of the week passed much to quickly. Natsu haven't been in school all week. I might be a teeny tiny worried about him, but I'm not about to admit it. God only knows why I'm feeling so drawn to that guy. Saturday karaoke night were boring without him there. Before I could rub out my eyes another school week had started. On my way to the gymnasium, Monday morning at school, I bumped into Natsu and tumbled to the ground. "I'm sorry, here let me help you," he offered me a helping hand. "Thank you, but I'm the one-" but before I could finish he handed me a folded piece of paper. "Here you've dropped this at the talent competition. I've been meaning to give it back to you last week, but due to family issues I weren't able to do so," I smiled at him, a little blush played upon my cheeks. "Oh and Luce, I think you should know that I've read it," he informed me with a wide smile. I stared at him in complete and utter shock. Who does he think he is? Haven't he ever heard of the term 'respecting others privacy'? Internally I'm boiling over with rage, but I can't seem to see past the nickname. "W- what did you just call me?" I have to make absolutely sure. He replied, using the same nickname. "Don't call me that?!" I spat in a bitter tone. I can see how his mood sunk into oblivion and instantly I feel ashamed for the way I handled things. I can't help but wonder what goes on in that head of his. "Hey, I'm sorry for being a bitch. You didn't deserve that. Are you okay?" I looked up at him. I haven't noticed how much taller he is than me. "As a matter of fact," he said in all honesty. "Luce.... ee...., there's something that you ought to know-" Natsu started but was cut off by an unplanned interruption. "If you two don't hurry up, Mr. Laxus is going to make us do ten laps," Cana informed us. She ran out ahead of us. "Sorry about that! You wanted to tell me something?" I asked as we quickly made our way towards the gym. "It can wait, I guess," Natsu said. He focused more on where he's going as to pay me anymore attention. Still I can tell that he's down in the dumps. "Meet me at that little cafe, at the riverside (the one with the cherry blossom view) at three and then you can tell me, okay?" He nodded in agreement and flashed me his famous smile.

As we entered the gym, I expected the worst to come. But were equally surprised when our P.T teacher said: "Normally, ten laps would be the penalty, though this is the first late arrival I'll let it slide." Mr. Laxus exhaled heavily before a smile decorates his face. "Congratulations, on second place new kid. You've got the privilege to choose today's activity." Natsu ended by choosing basketball. Boys against girls in a playoff. Obviously blue won by a long run.

I reached the little cafe. Natsu was already waiting on my arrival. He stood up from his sitting position and welcomed me with a broad smile. "I'm sorry. Have you been waiting for long?"
