24 - Grey

I stir as the sunbeams lazily peaks in through the curtains. My hand's killing me, the pain's severe. I can't help but sense that there's something that Erza didn't tell me as I recap last night's painful event. Slowly I sit up in bed, picked up the triangular bandage and put my arm back into the sling. A knock came to the door. Dragging my feet, I open it on an inch. Mr. Laxus's face came into view. He nods at me in a greeting manner. "Makarov wants me to take you to the hospital, so that the trained ones could give you proper care for your injury," he says as he stares down at my disfigured hand. "Cool, just give me a minute to get ready. I'll be right there," I quipped with a crooked smile.

After a moment Mr. Laxus's driving down the road with me sitting in the passenger seat beside him. The closer we came to the hospital the heavier the traffic got. Eventually spitting us out at the entrance. In the waiting area he waited along with me. A few hours later, I've been up for x-rays, according to which I've broken more then a dozen of smaller bones. Internally extremely grateful that I've injured my left hand and not my writing one. The doctor that's assigned to my case; covered my hand, up to the wrist, with a plaster cast before putting my hand back in a sling, levitating it to ease the pain. When we reached our destination, the teachers and staff was already busy preparing for the bonfire event. I might not be participating in this year's activities but I'm sure that Principle Drayer has a roll for me nonetheless.

The rest of the day past in a blur. I made my way out along with the rest of my friends, stealing a peek at her ever so often. Her worried expression bores through my soul. She's concerned about me which must mean that she still cares for me. It's hard to believe it while his hand is wrapped firmly around hers. The mere image sits uncomfortably within the pit of my stomach. When I first met Lucy, I had a hard time confessing and when I finally had the nerves to do so, she turned me down. When Pinky first joined our school she wouldn't give him the light of day either, so what changed? Why are they so comfortable after such a short time? Why had Erza came over last night was is mainly to check up on me or did she had a different reason which flew straight out the door when she found me here in that state? "Gather around, before I explain the rules of this year's activities, please know that Grey had been excused due to reasons. As some of you might have already noticed, due to a stupid act he had indeed broken his hand," Principal Drayer made excuse for me. Leaving me mentally face palming. "As for the rules-" he continues. A deep throaty cough rumbles from his mouth, he take a deep intake of air before finishing off: "The rules are easy enough to remember, but we'll give a recap of the rules at the beginning of each game. You'll be playing in teams of three, seeing how we're minus a player. Seeing how there's only nine guys among you, you'll be selecting your teams by pulling two names out of the bowl. A series of short games are to completed, the team to successfully succeed in the quickest time will win a pass on any class of him/hers choice and a day to skip school completely." That's not fair I could have used that to my advantage.

I look at the guys who stands in a line beside the bowl awaiting their turn, and here I have to stand missing out on this opportunity. Gajeel, Sting, Rough, Eric, Natsu, Jellal, Max, Loke and Freed, stands tall in line. Gajeel's mood sunk into his shoes when Levy's name weren't one of the two that he had pulled out of the bowl. Neither of the guys had such luck, apart from Natsu; its hardly fair how he picked Lucy's name at first try and at that adding Juvia to their little team. The event starts of with three individual activities, each team must decide amongst themselves who would be assigned to which game: Sack race, Egg-on-a-spoon and Pop the balloon. Then the games continue with two-man teams, where activities such as: Piggy back, Wheelbarrow and three-legged races would follow. Finishing of with a water relay. This is going to be interesting and I hate to miss out on the fun.
