Jeffrey returned home early that afternoon. Things were going quite well at SK flowers, he only destroyed 2 flower pots, 4 plants, and a handful of orders. The most important thing was that he had a good relationship with Susan and Kevin.
At home he found his parents up to another home improvement project. His mom was always busy, the week was spent on working and the weekends were for leisure. However for his mom, Leisure meant cleaning the rooms, doing laundry, painting the wall, working on the backyard.
Willa Delcroix was an adventurer, a do-oer, and a good mom. Usually on the weekends, instead of wasting their time on relaxing and playing games, their mom would drag his family to go outdoors more.
His Dad didn't help much either, the man liked fashion and furniture. Many a weekend was spent looking at patio grills at home depot, trying out the couches in Mors, or worse trying new clothing designs inspired by men's fashion shows and magazines.
Last week was a busy one, having been dragged to relax at a nearby lake and then in the afternoon an attempt was made to play tennis.
"Hey Jeffrey", his mom greeted him.
Various sounds were coming from the garage.
*clunk* *rattle* *crash*
"It got it, Willa. Here's the la-", his Dad started to say.
As his Dad walked inside carrying some tools and the ladder. He vaguely heard Jeffrey's voice. After moving the ladder away from the dinner table, he placed it in the living room.
His mom got busy grabbing a few light bulbs. Nearby sat a box of nails and a hammer. The wall had already been marked.
His Dad sat in a chair to stop and take a breath.
"Hey Jeffrey, you eat lunch?", his Dad asked.
"Yep, I've got some school work and projects to work on", Jeffrey told his Dad heading upstairs.
Before he even knew it, his father got up and gave him a hug.
"I love you, Jeffrey", his father told him.
"I love you too Dad", Jeffrey repeated softly.
His dad let go. Jeffrey headed to his room, while his dad watched him leave. After a short pause, Jeffrey's dad got a glass of water. Then he went to help his mom in the kitchen.
Jeffrey passed by his sister's room. He could hear them playing inside. Jeffrey decided to show his face, so without knocking he opened the door.
"Who is it? Oh hi, Jeffrey!", Raine said a little surprised.
"Jeffrey", Saoirse said excitedly.
Raine and Saoirse were busy with some sort of arts and crafts. There were some popsicle sticks scattered on the floor. Strewn about were some markers, scraps of construction paper, and a glue gun that lay on the table.
"What are you guys working on?", Jeffrey asked.
He saw some water color sets opened. A cup of muddy colored water placed on the side table. The dresser was disorganized and a mess.
"Well we were working on making our own tie-dye t-shirts", Raine started to explain.
Jeffrey nodded his head. With Saoirse still busy drawing and cutting paper.
"Oh cool", Jeffrey responded.
"You want to help Jeffrey?", Saoirse asked.
Jeffrey took a step back. "Nah I got some homework, but have fun you two", he said.
"OK, bye Jeffrey", Saoirse and Raine replied.
Jeffrey headed to his room. He then proceeded to jump on his bed. He was tired and it was time for him to relax with a book. He picked up the book he was reading earlier. The book was facedown near the foot of the bed.
On it was a picture of a clock. it's author and illustrator Brian Selznik's art style was beautiful to look at.
"There's a lot of good books coming out this year", thought Jeffrey.
Jeffrey's afternoon passed by, as he flipped through the pages of the story. Some text and some pictures.
"Will I finish this today or should I stop here", Jeffrey considered as he was 2/3 of the way there.
There was a book that Lucas Carty recommended, the Amulet series or something. Jeffrey had borrowed his copy of the book during recess. After flipping through a few pages, Jeffrey enjoyed the art style. So he wrote it down on a piece of paper. Another book to add to his reading list.
Jeffrey then got started on his homework. The thoughts of the website pushed to the back of his mind. Although, Jeffrey did make a note of it in his school planner.
On the weekly schedule, for Tuesday he wrote "Talk to Jordan Maunu about website stuff"
Mr. Maunu was the computer lab teacher and tech specialist of the school. The school janitor was a good friend of his and also doubled as the AV & cables guy.
Pulling out a purple folder, Jeffrey took out his homework assignments. Grabbing his textbooks, Jeffrey went to work.
The afternoon passed by quickly as every member of the family was busy with their own tasks. At some point, Raine and Saoirse went downstairs to play. Meanwhile Jeffrey's mom was doing bills, while his Dad was listening to some music.
