Jeffrey suddenly awoke at 4am. He rushed downstairs to the family computer to start typing. Opening the file, he started to reorganize the code.
The blue glow of the computer screen illumined his face. He looked like a crazed ghost with his hair sticking up and big eyes staring at the screen.
30 minutes later, Jeffrey leaned back on the office chair.
"It's done", Jeffrey said to himself.
While he was dreaming, suddenly the solution to one of his programming and math problems came to mind. Facing this amazing idea, Jeffrey found himself in a dream. He had two options knowing that he was dreaming.
Keep dreaming and play around with his new found lucid imagination.
Or wake up and hopefully remember the ingenious solution he came up with.
Usually Jeffrey would choose the former, but without hesitation he forced himself to wake up. Then as we know, he quickly rushed down the stairs to write out everything that he could remember before it disappeared. The knowledge obtained from dreams were notoriously hard to keep.
By the time he had started coding, he'd already forgotten half of what inspired him. Although after some work and the confidence boost from waking up, he finally finished the website layout and it's new feature.
Within 30 minutes, he integrated a search bar, some hyperlinks, slightly optimized the SEO, and added a search feature.
Next on the list was an experimental form or comment section to have customer reviews. However that would require having to purchase a server and a lot more coding that Jeffrey didn't know.
Jeffrey caught his breath before heading into the kitchen, he was now fully awake as the cold air of the first floor went through his pajamas. The kitchen floor was equally as cold since Jeffrey wasn't wearing any socks or slippers.
Jeffrey filled the water kettle with water and prepared a mug with hot cocoa powder. He then went to grab a pair of fuzzy slippers and sat down on the living room couch.
The black sky outside had barely started to turn to a lighter shade of dark blue.
Jeffrey thought about what he should do now.
"I could make breakfast, get some toast or scramble some eggs", Jeffrey thought.
Looking down at his pajamas, Jeffrey's next thought was, "Maybe I take a shower and get dressed"
Various ideas occurred to him such as going back to sleep, finishing some more homework... etc
As he was contemplating what to do, Jeffrey's hot water had finished boiling. Taking the kettle off of the stove, he poured the water into the mug. Grabbing a spoon he started to stir and mix his drink. He held it in his hands as a sort of hand warmer in the cold morning.
Jeffrey quietly walked up the stairs to his room. Once inside, the nice warm bed greeted him. He started to walk towards it. The bed had an indent from where he lay, his blanket almost perfectly open for him to get inside.
Jeffrey then proceeded to get onto the bed and reach over to the pillow. He then grabbed a book with it's pages face down before getting off of his bed.
With the click of a switch, Jeffrey turned on his desk lamp and started to read.
After a few initial sips of his hot chocolate Jeffrey was thoroughly lost in the book. His drink sat on the table getting cold.
After about 2 hours, with the sun peaking over the horizon. Jeffrey stopped reading. He found his sisters pulling on his sleeves telling him
"Jeffrey we've got to go, We're going to be late for school!", Saoirse yelled.
"We've been calling your name trying to wake you up for 12 minutes", Raine added.
Jeffrey didn't lock his door, but even if he had Raine and Saoirse would have unlocked it themselves. The only reason they didn't barge in earlier was because they were too lazy to go back upstairs and knock on his door. So they've been yelling at him to come down for breakfast multiple times.
Jeffrey was too busy reading to notice. He was still wearing his pajamas and his school bag wasn't prepared.
"I'm almost done", Jeffrey responded to his two sisters pulling on his sleeves. "Just give me two more pages"
Raine rolled her eyes, "You always say I only need two more pages to finish the chapter, but then you keep reading. Jeffrey come on we're going to be late"
Saoirse moved to grab his book. Jeffrey raised the book above his head trying desperately to read the next sentence.
Saoirse ran off to get more backup. Jeffrey could hear her say, "Mom, Dad Jeffrey woke up early to read again"
Jeffrey relented, placing the book in his bag and getting dressed as quickly as possible. Running to his closet, he grabbed a pair of clothes
Within 1 minute, he had buttoned his shirt, changed his pants and grabbed a hat for his hair. He then shoved everything lying around into his backpack and went downstairs.
His parents had already packed his lunch and breakfast to eat on the way there. Jeffrey was still absentmindly thinking about what would happen next in his book. His head was still lost in his own world of imagination and books.
Later that day, during lunch time Jeffrey was lying on the grass fully asleep.
His friends Preston and Samantha had placed a blade of grass below his nose so that when he breathed in, it moved toward him. When he breathed out, it moved away from him.
