CHAPTER 13

Rosalba felt that her mind got out of that confused condition. However, she remembered something that she wanted to forget. It was the first time that she killed a person and the first time she felt a vampire's desire for blood and slaughter. It was an emotion that she didn't like.

Meanwhile, she thought about it, her conscience started to return and Rosalba realized that she was awakening.

Rosalba opened her eyes and she saw someone side to her —Mmm...—She tried to move her hand but her body hurt.

The person who was taking a nap awakened immediately when he heard the small noise —Rosalba, are you okay? —Nicholas moved towards her and asked worriedly.

—Yes...—Rosalba saw that he looked healthy despite his pale face and she felt relief.

—How...are things? —Nicholas closed his mouth. He knew that Rosalba wasn't asking only about the incident in the hunting. She wanted to know what was the opinion about the apparition of a member of the old Vampire Royal family.

—It could be considered calm —Nicholas said that but Rosalba saw him baggy-eyed and knew that Nicholas was lying.

She sighed because she knew that things wouldn't be easy. Nicholas probably made great work. The proof is that she was here in a comfortable room and not in prison.

—I'm going to believe you for now...—Nicholas laughed about her words. She was becoming more casual when she talked with him. But he liked it.

—Okay, I am happy that you trusted in me, but I needed you to tell me some things too —Rosalba knew what information that he needed.

She told him about her true identity as the first princess, the legitimate heir of the throne. About her life as a fugitive and the reason why she was searching for information about Peter.

—Mmm… the things are more complicated than I had thought —Nicholas was upset because Peter had injured Rosalba and he didn't notice it. He was stronger than he imagined.

—I couldn't defeat him —Rosalba was powerful but Peter was in another level.

—We don't need to worry about it now. In fact, I have a good idea now. Thanks to you —Rosalba felt confused but Nicholas only softly patted her head saying.

—Rest, I'm going to work —Rosalba wanted to ask but Nicholas didn't want to tell her it yet.

Nicholas saw her unhappy face and said —You need to have patience —Nicholas leaned to her and put her lips on her forehead.

—Well, I'm leaving… —Rosalba was stunned until she heard the sound of the closed door.

She made a strange smile and covered her face with the blanket.

"He was becoming more shameless every day," Rosalba thought somewhat funny. She wasn't stupid after a while she had realized the way Nicholas saw her wasn't normal. But of course, she thought that she was imagining that. Only when they were alone in the cave, she noticed that maybe it was true and she wasn't indifferent to him either. Rosalba sighed and decided to rest for now. She had time to think about it, after.

***

One week had passed. Rosalba had been reading old books about the history of the country, legend, myths, anything. After she revived that time in her mind, Rosalba thought about a method that Peter could use to become a powerful vampire. It is just that she didn't know if it was possible.

Nicholas arrived at the library and saw Rosalba focused on reading the book. She didn't even notice his presence.

—Rosa —Rosalba heard his voice and raised her head. Nicholas sat in front of her and said.

—You are here again —Rosalba nodded. She told him that she needed to search for something in the library. It was related to Peter but she told him that she wouldn't say anything to him until she found the information. Nicholas accepted and gave access to all the library including the forbidden books.

Nicholas remembered it, so he didn't continue to ask it and change the topic of the conversation —Why don't you have the dresses that I sent? Don't like it? —Rosalba looked at him and Nicholas continued —Or Don't like the person who sent them? —Nicholas seemed relaxed when he said that but his fists were clenched.

—You don't say nonsense —Rosalba sighed somewhat irritated. This man was more daring every day —Do you really believe that it is easy for me to adapt to this environment after living as a plebeian? —Nicholas noticed his mistake and closed his mouth, somewhat embarrassed.

—Also, I really didn't want to wear that expensive and luxurious dress to read in a library. I know that there will be a moment where I would have to use it but if it isn't necessary. I prefer to wear something simple —Nicholas realized that she was telling the truth. In fact, he thought that she should wear simple clothes because she wasn't favored by her parents. But he was wrong.

—I'm sorry —Nicholas said and Rosalba shook her head.

—It is okay, I know that it is normal for any person to think that way —Nicholas felt some upset with her words but he didn't say anything. Rosalba saw that he didn't plan to say more and focus on the book. Nicholas only observes her while she reads. So the place was quiet but calm.
