Dual Sword

A dual sword technique?

Does that mean the Constantine Sword Style should be used with two swords?

What the hell was he doing then?

With a helpless smile on his lips, Hans facepalmed at his stupidity. If it wasn't for Light pointing out his mistake, he would never know he's using just one sword in a style that is supposed to be used with two.

'Maybe that's why I'm stuck here.'

Hans' eyes darted at the floating screen in front of him.

[Constantine Sword Style: First Cut (B)

Proficiency: 49.9%]

No matter how much he used the skill, it just couldn't seem to pass this threshold. At first, he thought it was because he's not a swordsman and his proficiency with basic swordsmanship was lacking.

But now, it doesn't seem to be that way.

The 50% threshold might give him another sword style variation. Unfortunately, it was being held back by his lack of knowledge about the sword style itself.

If he knew from the start, his proficiency might be higher now.

'Well, no use crying in a spilled milk.'

Come to think of it, didn't Plundy say he knew Emperor Constantine.

'Oi.'

[Yo.]

'You knew that I'm doing it wrong right?'

[No.]

'Huh?'

[From the start, I already told you that I'm familiar with Constantine but…]

'But?'

[Because you level up like a snail that I'm not getting my sealed memories back.]

Why is he the one getting blamed now?

Hans groaned.

'Forget it, it's pointless to argue with you.'

As soon as Hans closed his screen, Light spoke.

"Hahaha, try it if you want." Light suggested.

Hearing Light's words, Hans raised his head and pulled out his storage bag inside his pocket. He placed his hand inside and then picked out a spare sword he bought earlier.

"I have one here but I'm afraid it would break easily."

Light nodded and waved his hands, "You don't have to worry. I won't hit you hard so rest assured."

As soon as Hans equipped the sword, he felt a different sensation streaming down his muscles. The sensation lasted for a mere second before vanishing as if it didn't happen.

'What was that?'

Hans thought. However, he just shook his head and ignored it. It should be from the sword style. It's reacting to him now— something like that.

"How do you feel?"

"Uhm, a little uncomfortable but I got it somehow."

Hans weaved the sword around, trying to familiarize himself with using a two sword. After a brief check, Hans looked at his mentor and declared.

"Let's start."

Light smiled as a response.

With his newfound confidence, Hans immediately went for the initiative.

He raised his swords together on one side as if he would go for a stab.

[Constantine Sword Style: First Cut…]

The ground exploded. Hans dashed forward at a blinding speed.

Swish—

Unlike earlier, the wind gathering at the top of both swords became stronger and more refined.

As soon as Hans appeared at Light's right, he lunged the sword together.

[Piercing Gale.]

At the same time, Light's eyes grew sharper as he felt a threat beside him. By leaning slightly, he effortlessly evaded Hans' attack. At the same time, he lunged his rapier and aimed it at Hans' stomach.

Shu—

Having anticipated Light's evasion, Hans performed a quick twist. However, before he could move he felt a stinging pain around his lower chest.

"You have too many flaws, Hans."

Hans glanced at Light and then lowered his gaze. The rapier was pointed at his stomach. If this is a real fight, he might have been severely injured by now or worse even dead.

'I should learn while we have time.'

Without hesitation, Hans took one step backwards.

He slammed his right foot on the ground to gain momentum before he bashed his two swords towards Light's rapier.

Clang—

The rapier fell to the ground and Light's eyes widened. He didn't think Hans would pull off something like this.

'This is better.'

The unpredictable Hans is, the better.

Light twisted his body and launched a right roundhouse kick. Due to the difference in physical power, Hans was thrown away by the force.

Slam—

His body rolled on the ground and he used his swords to get back up. To his surprise, another kick came his way.

'Shit!'

Baaam—

"You're getting better at dodging, Hans."

Baaam—

"See? I can't even hit you now."

Baaam—

"Would you look at that? Now, you're just running."

"You bastard! I thought this was supposed to be a sword battle!"

"It is!" Light pressed.

"Then why are you kicking the shit out of me huh?"

As soon as Hans said those words, a strong gust of wind assaulted his face. Light appeared under his nose.

"It's part of the process, Hans."

[Rapier Art: No.19: Thunderous Lightspeed Thrust]

Rumble—

Light aimed at Hans' weak point and stabbed his rapier towards it.

At that moment, something unexpected happened.

"Got you, bastard."

For the first time, Light showed a genuine surprise.

'It's a trap!'

Unfortunately, it's too late. His rapier passed through Hans' figure. It was an indication that the one he attacked was nothing more than an afterimage.

Hans appeared behind Light, brandished his sword, and slashed him at a blinding speed.

[Constantine Sword Style: First Cut…]

It was the sword variation he got as soon as it reached 50% proficiency earlier.

[Weaving Thunder.]

Zap—

His two swords rippled with lightning as he slashed through Light's nape.

Slash—

As he felt the threat of danger, Light quickly turned around. However, even if he stopped his stabbing momentum, Hans' attack was too fast.

Before he knew it…

Zap—

"That was dangerous, Hans."

Drip—, drip—

Light lowered his head and stared at the blood oozing out from his chest. He didn't feel pain but still, he could sense the danger being emitted by such an attack.

Light raised his head and looked at Hans who crashed through the ground because of the recoil.

'A lightning attack huh?'

Meanwhile, Hans groaned in pain as he propelled himself out of the sands. He brushed the dust off his face and sheathed the two swords from his hand.

'Arghh!'

Because of Light's tough skin, although he slashed it, the recoil took over. It was painful. He looked at his shaking hands before sprinting back towards the fight.

Swish—

There, he saw Light smiling at him as blood gushed out from his chest. At first, Hans's aim was at the nape but because of Light's immediate body turn, he slashed his chest instead.

"Are you okay?" Hans asked with concern. To be honest, he didn't think his attack would even penetrate Light's defense.

How wrong he was.

Even if the wound is covered with blood, Hans could still see the large and deep cuts in his chest.

"It's fine." With a flick of his finger, Light's injuries vanished in an instant.

'He even has healing spells?!!'

Not only is it a healing spell, but instead it was a high-rank healing spell. Well, because Light served the Heaven King, maybe it's understandable.

Although he didn't know who this Heaven King was, since it's' Heaven' then he should be associated with light and holy energy. Light or Holy mana is the catalyst for healing spells after all.

"What was that attack?"

Light asked with a glint in his eyes.

"Oh, that's my new one."

"Well, it was fast." Light shifted his gaze to his chest, "You managed to slash ten times in an instant."

"Uhmm, yeah."

Hans' mouth twitched. It was supposed to be a trump card but Light already analyzed the skill.

[Constantine Sword Style: First Cut (B)

 Variation: Weaving Thunder

— the user gathers thunder particles around his blades, dashes forward at a breakneck speed, and performs 10 simultaneous slashes towards the target.

— dashing leaves afterimages behind to confuse the enemy.

Note: After the skill ends, it can't be used again for the next 10 seconds.]

It was a skill that uses speed and power in conjunction. However, it seems like it has a limitation which is reasonable because it's too taxing for his legs to use.

Light rarely gets to see such a spectacle in his life. In this world, he was unrivaled. No one can touch a spec of his hair or scrape a shed of his skin.

'That attack…'

Although it was not enough to threaten him, it should be safe to say that it could cause damage to him.

Just based on the speed alone, it's already formidable. Not only that, but Hans seemed to be still far from his full potential.

"Can you still go on?"

Light hurled his rapier like a snake in the air. The air seemed shredded by the force being generated by his weapon.

"Yeah. I could do this forever."

"Very well, I like your determination."

Suddenly, the surrounding air trembled, and the ground rippled like a wave.

Shrumm—

Hans frowned as he focused his senses on the vicinity.

'The air…'

The pressure in the air became heavy and it was hard to breathe. Light wasn't using mana but the atmosphere was as if he was leaking all of his aura.

'Is this a true swordsman?'

Most of the powerful Awakened on Earth used swords as their weapons. To his surprise, none of them could match what he was seeing right now.

"My rapier art has 99 forms." In an instant, Light took his leg forward and assumed a stabbing stance, "The first form is a deadly and fast stab to the heart, try to dodge it."

Swish—

At that moment, the second half of their training finally commenced.

...…..

In a large villa atop a large mountain, a man sat on the balcony of the terrace.

The gentle winds breezed through his nose as the scent of fresh tea blended in the surrounding air. The mesmerizing view below the mountains entered his sharp eyes.

As he sipped through the cup, the man's gaze shot towards the setting sun. Even with such a blessed view, the man wasn't impressed.

Tap—, tap—

Sounds of footsteps entered his ears but the man seemed unbothered as if he already knew it was coming. The man put down the teacup and stared at the newcomer.

"What are you here for?" The man didn't stall and went straight to the point.

The newcomer was a woman standing well over 5 foot 8. Her long blond hair was tied into a ponytail. Her face seemed sculpted by god as her azure eyes, velvety lips and her perfectly chiseled face were enough for a man to drool in sight.

The woman wore a simple dress and heels but still, her charm was boosted even further. Even then, the man's eyes did not even stay at her before shifting back to the mountain's view.

Seeing his uninterested gaze, the woman puckered her lips before mustering her courage to speak.

"Are you my brother or not?"

The man's eyebrows perked up in surprise. His lips formed a grin before looking back at the woman.

"I'm not. Your brother is sleeping."

At that moment, the man released pressure enough to scare the woman.

The woman clenched his fist while her legs trembled in fright. She bit her lips as cold sweats trickled down her skin. She closed her eyes, trying to stabilize her pounding chest.

"Then please tell him that the tomb will open tomorrow. Don't be late."

The woman bowed her head before slowly walking away. Even as she left, the fear creeping into her body couldn't be hidden.

The man straightened and then suddenly closed his eyes. His mind traveled around his body until it reached a white place where a young man was sleeping tight.

"Boy, your sister went here."

At his words, the young man opened his eyes and stared at the figure in front of him. He smiled at the thought of his sister visiting him. However, it quickly turned into a frown as he remembered the man in front of him.

"What did she say." The young man asked with a hoarse voice.

"She said that the tomb will open tomorrow and don't be late."

The young man nodded before closing his eyes once again. The man didn't stay further and he quickly withdraw from that place.

As his soul stabilize back to the body, on his head, a golden crown manifested.
