"Impedimenta!"

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Two spells shot out from Abel's fingertips, but neither hit Jessica nor Kilgrave.

The first spell hit the roof of a nearby building, leaving a fist-sized hole, while the second struck a rooftop water tank, splashing water and petrifying an unfortunate pigeon.

Damn, it's impossible to aim accurately without a wand. After this, I'll need to make time to craft one!

Boom!

With one foot on the building's edge, Abel pushed off with a slight effort, propelling himself upward and continuing to pursue Jessica and Kilgrave.

Suddenly, Abel noticed a tall crane transporting steel beams to the top of a nearby building. His eyes narrowed as he tracked Jessica, who was about to leap past the crane. Sensing an opportunity, Abel stretched out his hands toward the steel beam and cast a Levitation Charm.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

Creak...

The steel beam, which had been stable moments ago, creaked loudly as it floated and rotated, rising just enough to intercept Jessica and Kilgrave mid-jump. They crashed directly into it.

The beam blocked Jessica's jump, and she didn't have time to dodge. Her head hit the steel beam, causing her to lose balance and fall, crashing onto the rooftop below.

As for Kilgrave, who had been in her arms, he was thrown out by the impact, hitting the ground hard. His legs and one arm bent at unnatural angles, and blood began to flow from his mouth and nose.

Kilgrave, lacking superhuman durability, had taken the full brunt of the fall. If Jessica hadn't cushioned most of the blow, he would already be dead. But even with her help, Kilgrave was severely injured and barely able to move.

Abel slowly descended to where Jessica had fallen. As she struggled to rise, Abel raised his hand and cast another Petrification Charm, immobilizing her completely.

Kilgrave's mind control was powerful. As long as he remained conscious and within range, his victims couldn't break free. Unless someone had been under his control long enough to develop resistance, escape was nearly impossible. Knowing this, Abel preemptively immobilized Jessica to ensure she wouldn't interfere when he finished Kilgrave off.

He then walked slowly toward Kilgrave.

Kilgrave, using his one good arm, tried desperately to crawl backward, away from Abel's approach.

But it was a futile effort.

"Kilgrave, when you play with other people's minds and bodies, you should be prepared for the day when someone fights back."

Kilgrave, still gasping, tried to call for Jessica, but she remained unresponsive, immobilized by Abel's spell. Though Abel's magic wasn't as strong without a wand, it was enough to keep Jessica frozen for now.

Realizing that Jessica wouldn't come to his aid, Kilgrave's expression changed. He looked at Abel and, with a mocking smile, rasped, "What makes you any different from me? With powers like ours, you'll eventually look down on ordinary people too. You'll become just like me. So why kill me? What right do you have to kill me?"

"I'm not killing you for justice," Abel replied coldly. "I'm killing you because you hurt my family. That's all."

Without another word, Abel cast the Levitation Charm again, sending Kilgrave into the sky. When Kilgrave became just a small black dot in the distance, Abel snapped his fingers, releasing the spell. Kilgrave plummeted to the ground, his body smashing into the roof, sending blood and flesh splattering everywhere.

Abel turned to look at Jessica, whose eyes were slowly regaining their clarity. He snapped his fingers once more, lifting the Petrification Charm. Jessica staggered but quickly recovered, rushing to the edge of the roof to get a better look at Abel.

By the time she got there, Abel had already disappeared from her sight.

Walking into a nearby alley, Abel removed his hoodie, revealing a short-sleeved shirt underneath. He exited the alley from an unmonitored street, entered a nearby clothing store, and bought a different color sweater and pants. After changing, he put on his hood again and returned to the restaurant.

He entered through the back door. By now, the patrons had regained consciousness, but they were still in a state of confusion, trying to make sense of their recent memories of being controlled.

Abel quietly slipped into the surveillance room near the utility area. There was no one inside, which suited his purposes perfectly.

He quickly deleted all footage of himself from the security cameras and took the master tape.

After finishing that, Abel carefully carried the unconscious Treya to the lounge. He trusted the staff at the restaurant; they were reliable, and he knew each of them personally, so he felt safe leaving Treya in their care for the time being. With that settled, he left the restaurant, riding his bicycle home as if nothing unusual had happened.

When he got home, Abel took some food from the refrigerator, heated it in the microwave, and brought it back to his room. As he ate, he checked his orders on Amazon and eBay. As usual, the logistics were slow, and he didn't feel the urge to complain.

His recent purchases included various types of wood, feathers from different birds, and even lizard and snake specimens. This world didn't have the magical materials of his previous life—or at least, he didn't have access to them yet—so Abel had to make do with substitutes to craft a basic wand. A proper wand would allow him to cast more powerful spells, and perhaps one day, he'd venture to places like Kamar-Taj or Asgard to find genuine magical materials for potions or a more suitable wand.

But for now, his biggest problem was the slow shipping speeds on Amazon and eBay!
