Chapter 93

"Thor! That's a Frost Giant!"

"Why have the Frost Giants come to Midgard?"

Thor's expression was grave as he listened to the concerns of Volstagg and Fandral, members of the Warriors Three. In the past, he might have charged into battle without a second thought, but the loss of Mjolnir and his own transformation had instilled a sense of caution in him.

Taking a deep breath, he said, "It must be Loki. I'm not sure why he's orchestrating this, but I suspect he's the one behind the Frost Giants' presence here."

Hogan, the third member of the Warriors Three, chimed in, "Before we left, Heimdall informed us that Loki had been in Jotunheim for some time. He managed to hide his actions from Heimdall, which likely means he has a plan."

"Then it's clear this is connected to Loki," Thor replied, a hint of frustration evident in his tone.

Sif glanced at Thor, then turned her gaze to Jane Foster, who stood nearby, a look of confusion on her face. Stepping closer to Thor and Jane, she suggested, "Perhaps we should retreat to the Fairy Palace to regroup. This situation is too dangerous for you, Thor. You're just a mortal now."

"No!" Thor declared. "Whether I'm a god or a mortal, I will not flee. The Frost Giants are rampaging in Midgard, and I have a responsibility to fight them! I still have friends like you, and together, we can stand against them!"

With determination, Thor picked up a fire axe from a nearby wall, feeling its weight in his hands.

Before Thor could lead the charge, a brilliant beam of rainbow light shot down from the sky, striking the center of the town with a deafening roar, sending up a cloud of smoke.

As the smoke began to clear, the towering form of the Destroyer emerged, its metallic body glinting ominously.

"Look, it's the Destroyer!" Volstagg exclaimed, excitement creeping into his voice. But seeing Thor's serious demeanor, he quickly realized something was amiss.

"Volstagg, the Destroyer is a creation of the All-Father. With Odin asleep, it must be Loki controlling it. The Destroyer won't be here to help us against the Frost Giants!"

Sif's expression turned serious. "We need to neutralize the Destroyer first. We can't let it join the fray."

As Thor acknowledged the urgency of their situation, the Frost Giants finally noticed them. Laufey, the leader of the Frost Giants, hesitated for a moment before raising his hand and commanding, "Send some of our warriors to eliminate those Asgardians. And if possible, capture Odin's son alive! His current mortality works to our advantage. We can present him to Odin, and then eliminate him!"

Twelve Frost Giants charged toward Thor and his companions, their massive forms striking terror into the hearts of the townsfolk.

Laufey, sensing the opportunity, condensed ice in his hand, forming a short sword. With a swift motion, he pierced through the third story of a nearby building, creating a gaping hole.

At that moment, Abel materialized in a swirl of black smoke, emerging from the shadows to attack. In a flash, he took down a Frost Giant, its head rolling to the ground as icy blue-purple blood sprayed forth.

"Enemy attack!" Laufey barked, immediately shifting into a defensive stance. "Stay vigilant! Form a perimeter!"

With his keen instincts honed from countless battles, Laufey noticed the shift in the atmosphere around him. As his warriors fanned out to search for Abel, he conjured a fierce blizzard, swirling snow and ice around them to obscure the battlefield.

As the storm intensified, Abel, now exposed, was spotted by Laufey. "Sneaky human! Prepare to die!" he shouted, conjuring a massive ice projectile that resembled a hockey puck, hurling it toward Abel.

In response, Abel opted to break his invisibility, executing an Apparition to reappear next to another Frost Giant. With deft wand movements, he unleashed a barrage of attacks, leaving the Frost Giant riddled with wounds, its bones visible beneath its battered exterior.

Despite his injuries, the Frost Giant demonstrated remarkable bravery and resilience. Realizing the urgency of the situation, it charged at Abel, determined to engage him and create an opening for its comrades and Laufey.

The stakes were high as both sides prepared for the impending clash, the air thick with tension and the promise of conflict looming on the horizon.
