Veilstalker

The mere sight of it was something people sought to avoid. The darkness was its friend, disappearance was its forte. Its own self was its disappearance.

This leopard is rare, extremely rare. It isn't that it has gone extinct or that only a few remain, but whenever one appears, a cultivator can be certain that another won't be found within several miles. Spotting a second one nearby is considered an extraordinary rarity: Yang Zhai thought.

He was here for the Shadow Leopard but ended up facing Veilstalker.

Its sole ability was something that ended up making it a terror. In hundreds of Shadow Leopards, only one Veilstalker would appear. It was a part of Shadow Leopards.

Shadow Leopards were quite fast, and would even disappear in shadows, though they would still be there.

They were so silent that a person wouldn't be able to tell even if it was walking beside them. That's why they came to be known as Veilstalkers.

They were stalkers that couldn't be noticed. On top of having no presence, a veil covered them.

"I cannot take my focus off him…" Yang Zhai's focus was completely on the Veilstalker.

As it was falling, Wang Lei's corpse emerged from it, catching the leopard off guard and kicking it.

Yang Zhai jumped out of the pit the moment he fell into it. The leopard was still falling to the ground from the kick.

Yang Zhai grabbed the Corpse Collector and ran towards the leopard. He activated the Earth Burial Ka. A pit appeared where it was falling and it fell in it.

The Corpse Collector had already absorbed Wang Lei's corpse.

Yang Zhai threw the Corpse Collector towards it again, however, the leopard was quick and managed to get out of the pit right away. The Corpse Collector missed it. Wang Lei's corpse appeared out of it and grabbed it so that it wouldn't go too far because of the throw.

The leopard didn't look behind and disappeared into the forest. Yang Zhai couldn't find it anywhere.

"Not good,"

Yang Zhai became extremely cautious and activated The Last One ring.

"Guard me," Yang Zhai ordered.

Both Yang Zhai and The Last One were looking in opposite directions, guarding each other's backs.

One claw of the Veilstalker was enough to gravely injure him or even kill him. He didn't have any ire or ka to defend himself.

As for the Wang Lei and the Corpse Collector, he let them stay where they were. If he was lucky and the leopard didn't care about the hot blood, it might go for Wang Lei.

Yang Zhai is looking around and sees nothing.

Meliora wasn't good enough to heal him instantly, especially during a fight.

"Reen and Vara,"

"Yes, master?"

"Guard my left and right. Just say anything when you see a leopard attacking me,"

Vara rested on Yang Zhai's left shoulder and Reen stood on Yang Zhai's right shoulder.

However, they had just been ordered when Vara shouted,

"Left!"

Suddenly, from the nearby tree to his left, the leopard pounced on him.

He moved his left hand forward and the leopard bit it.

Just as it was about to bite him, Yang Zhai activated the Rank 1 Red Poison technique.

The poison went into its mouth the moment it bit him.

It growled from pain. Yang Zhai kicked it and smashed it to the ground. Yang Zhai's left hand was bleeding. He activated Meliora Ka and healed it. After that, Yang Zhai began to beat it fiercely.

After a severe beating, Yang Zhai activated the seal ring and the inheritance gate started to appear.

After a little while, it appeared. Yang Zhai took the Veilstalker inside the canyon inside the gate and closed it. He also absorbed The Last One and Wang Lei before entering the gate.

After he entered, the gate closed and disappeared.

"I hadn't yet planned on absorbing any ability, but Veilstalker is a good catch, I must not let it go to waste. It will surely be beneficial." Yang Zhai said calmly.

He first healed his wounds before starting the absorption of the Veilstalker's essence.

He didn't want to take any risk during the absorption procedure, so he didn't like anyone near him during that, not even the one he could control.
