Escape [3]

Back in the cave..

"You idiots! It's okay to capture some humans and eat them. BUT YOU ALL! YOU ARE SO INCOMPETENT THAT YOU LET THEM ESCAPE! IN! OUR! OWN! NEST!"

Xyphur, the adult Brain Worm, said angrily.

"WHO LEFT THAT DAMN CRACK IN OUR NEST?!"

He yelled through the Hive mind, the mind link interconnected to the entire zerg race. As he had a higher authority level, he can command the zergs below him perfectly.

Either to let them sacrifice themselves willingly or to interrogate a lower-ranking zerg, he can do it all.

"It's me, great Xyphur."

A humanoid zerg presented himself. As a zerg who gained a humanoid form, he is a S+ Ranked zerg.

Though, this doesn't matter to Xyphur, a mutated Brain Worm at SS Rank. His value is very high. High enough for the one of the twelve seats, "Brain", to take notice of him.

"DIE!"

The humanoid zerg "willingly" self destructed. Not long after, another S+ Rank Zerg exploded.

Boom!

Boom!

Bunch of green-black flesh along with white fluids are spread into the bodies of the other zergs.

"Just for a stupid affair! My plans are ruined!"

Xyphur, as a SS Rank, wouldn't be able to escape the detection tools of this planet, thus he chose to hibernate. Hiding his immense power underground, he had been hibernating for 30 years.

If it had gone as he expected, his plan would've been put to work. By intensifying the war on the frontline, "his" clone would use that opportunity to create a temporary space crack that leads to here after Xyphur destroyed the "Space Jammer" of this planet. Then, the star system wide "Space Jammer" wouldn't be able to prevent "him".

Destroying that "Space Jammer" to remove the superimposition effects(One on this planet, one on a star system, and one on a star cluster) is that important.

With that crack, he will be able to escape from this planet, which is simply behind enemy lines. He will then be able to go to the zerg's home planet, but his plan is now in shambles.

Since some humans escaped, they will naturally report what they had seen. Even though they didn't know of his existence yet, it is only a matter of time.

Because they would think that "its possible that an adult Brain Worm exists", they would first send an investigation team.

'Due to those stupid imbeciles, the plan had been ruined! Damn it!'

Left with no other choice, he contacted "him". Soon after, he got a reply.

"As you will."

Xyphur started to make his preparations as the higher-ranked zerg commanded.

--------

Few moments ago..

The Vice Captain, surprised by Lugh's appearance, called him out.

"Rookie?!"

To his surprise, he collapsed. Though, it is to be expected. Lugh didn't know of his situation before, but its much worse than he thought.

His upper body is fine. All he received are some lacerations caused by his escape. Due to how fast he had been, plus him crashing into some trees quite a few times, it resulted in this.

His lower body, the legs and feet, are on another level of damage. His legs, due to the continuous speed bursts, are bleeding profusely along with his bare foot.

His leg muscles bursted open, causing a blood loss. His foot, due to him running so fast, became barefoot at some time. His shoes were nowhere to be seen.

"Edward, appraise him, quick!"

"On it!"

Edward, the spellcaster of this team, started using his appraisal spell. Nature Forces surged as he used superimposed appraisal spells, the product of "Qi-Magic System".

Nature forces is the purified form of the two energies on that said system. Thanks to it, not only did the mana capacity on each threshold grew larger, but the superimposition of spells can now be done.

Two appraisal spells had been used by him; one from the Magic System and one from the Qi System.

"Complete! No abnormalities except for his injuries!"

"What? How did he survive that?"

"Is it possible to survive from being eaten by "The Swarm"?"

"Quiet! Edward, Gin, go heal him."

"Wait, captain! Isn't this quite dangerous?"

One of the squad members tried to stop him.

This decision is right. Who can make it out alive from a sure-death situation from the zergs?

There's only two types: A brainwashed person, and a person who swore allegiance to the zergs willingly.

Either way, both are bad news.

"No! He's not what you think of! Aside from the appraisal spells, 'It' didn't react at all."

"It didn't react?"

"Yes."

By 'it', he meant his inborn trait, [Intuition]. With it, he can sense danger in advance. A 'potential danger' is also counted in his trait, thus he will be able to sense whether a person is either of the two aforementioned people from before.

"Understood."

The squad member gave in. Two of them carried Lugh, while the two spellcasters healed him.

"Captain, we can only do a first-aid measure. It seems like we need to go back to the city to fully heal his injuries."

"That's fine then. We'll be able to reach it in a day. Just keep healing him for now."

"Understood."

'The rookie survived. But what mattered is his eyes. They're very similar to captain's.'

When he first saw him, he didn't got startled due to his appearance nor his injuries; rather, its his eyes.

Decisiveness. The decisiveness that only a war veteran has. His captain is a great example of that. Being able to make split-second decisions will definitely help you on a battlefield.

Lugh had that, as seen on his injuries. He didn't hesitate to run hard, even though it caused him injuries, just so he can survive.

'Who knows, he might become a pillar-level figure in the future..'

"Captain! He.."

"What?"

"He.. His Vessels.. They had reached at least, B Rank!"

"What?!"

"It's all true.. I tried to appraise his internal injuries, but I didn't expect to find this out!"

B Rank. It might look easy with Lugh levelling up his stats once, but its not easy at all.

There are two reasons: Time and Talent. Some people might only have a low latent potential, thus they could only reach that rank for the rest of their lives. Unless, they can consume a talent-enhancing Spiritual Material by luck.

The closer their rank to their latent potential, the slower the cultivation gets. Only god knows how many people suffered from these two factors.

With Lugh being B Rank at the age of 16, then that only meant one thing: He's extremely talented.

With how fast his cultivation is, even an idiot can deduce that he has a heaven-defying talent. It's also very unusual to reach the end of your latent potential at a young age.

'Will he.. No, he'll definitely become a pillar-level figure in the future.'

"Everyone! Do not reveal what happened today! It's up to the rookie whether he'll reveal it or not. Understood?"

"Yes Sir!"

With the remaining squad members being the comrades who fought with each other at the front lines, the vice captain felt reassured.

A day later, they arrived at the city.
