(Brian's P.O.V)

I agreed to keep in touch with Griffin after he'd requested it. Mostly because there were other factions within the Paladins that were outside the country. Fortunately, he informed me that contact between them and Roland's branch of the Paladin's was minimal. They were at odds with each other due to Roland's stubborn nature and extreme ways. That did little to assure me and I was already planning ahead for whenever they decided to come.

If there was one thing that I'd learned from all this, it was to never be blindsided.

We teleported onto the roof of the hospital and I turned off True Reveal. Every time I activated the skill, my knowledge on how the teleportation worked got better and better. In truth the ability was a complex one but True Reveal made it super easy, barely an inconvenience.

I made my way to Uncle Ben's ward room, knocked and then gently opened the door.

"Brian! Where were you? I was worried sick."

"It's okay Aunt May. He decided to go and get you a couple of things because you came here so fast."

I nodded and hugged her. Then I turned my attention to the bed.

"Hey Uncle Ben. How are you feeling?"

He snorted and gestured to himself.

"I'm fine. These are just scratches. I've had worse injuries while working. Frankly speaking I'd rather be out at the store trying to get it back up."

"Benjamin Parker. You will stop with that nonsense and stay here until you're the picture of health."

Aunt May said. Her tone begged anyone to challenge her words and we all wisely shut up.

I shook my head and smiled.

"Don't worry Uncle Ben, the insurance company will take care of all that. I talked to the police outside but they're still investigating the cause of the explosion."

I told him and his face turned grim.

"It's not the store I'm really worried about. The… employees. My friends. How many made it out alive?"

I shook my head.

"You're the only one who survived. Luckily you were at the farthest end of the store."

"But I could swear…"

He begun before I interrupted him.

"It's where I found you after the explosion happened."

"Thank God, Brian was taking a call outside the store when the explosion happened. I refuse to imagine what Peter and I would have done if both of you were hurt."

May added from the side but I could see that Uncle Ben was still unconvinced and had some more questions. He knew I'd been there. Inside the store at the time everything had gone haywire.

I said nothing to ease his doubts though and that made me feel a little guilty. A few hours later, Uncle Ben was released and we all went home.

Pulling up on the driveway, Peter and I helped him up the stairs with Aunt May following after us. Uncle Ben wasn't a fan of being fussed over but Aunt May did it anyway. I swear, she was the real head of the house in our family.

The door bell rang and I took that chance to escape. When I opened the door, my eyebrows rose in question. MJ and her Aunt were standing before me. They both had the same red hair, and she looked young for 40. Enough that she could have passed for her older sister. MJ on the other hand, raked her eyes down my body and licked her lips. I looked at her and smirked. A blush crept up to her face and she coughed to hide her embarrassment.

"Hi Brian. We heard about what happened. Is your Uncle okay?"

"Oh hey guys. We just came from the hospital. He's okay now, you wanna come in and say hi?"

"Thanks Brian you're such a darling."

I nodded and stepped aside to let them in. MJ's Aunt quickly proceeded to the leaving room leaving the two of us alone. MJ stepped up close to me in the doorway and wrapped her hands around me. He body felt warm and snug. She smelled…wonderful as if she'd just come straight from the shower. I pulled her close to my body and breathed in.

"Are you okay?"

She asked and I nodded.

She stepped back, blushing and I instantly missed her body.

"So how have you been?"

I asked her to get rid of the awkwardness between us.

"Good. I got picked to be an understudy for the female lead in a play so…yeah."

She told me, a little excitement leaking into her voice. I smiled.

"That's great MJ. I'm really happy for you. You deserve this and I'm glad that you told me that. I could really use some good news especially after…"

"Yeah. Is he really okay?"

we sat on the stairs and started talking.

"He is. Just a little banged up and more than worried about his employees. They - they were some really good people."

"I'm Sorry. It's so tragic. Do you know what caused it?"

I shook my head, feeling a little guilty for lying.

"The police haven't released an official statement but they think it was a bomb."

My words left MJ stunned.

"A bomb? But why? Why would anyone want to bomb your Uncle's store? He's one of the nicest people I know."

I shrugged. I didn't really wanna talk about the whole thing. Knowing that Roland and his group of self-righteous assholes was gone was enough to make me want to forget the whole thing.

So much had happened over the course of a few months that I just wanted to stop and…think. To remind myself that there was more to life than jumping from one fight to another. Basically I needed to do something normal. For just one day, be a normal teenager although that idea was laughable as hell.

"Hey tomorrow is on Saturday. We agreed to meet up. That still a thing?"

She looked unsure at my question.

"Are you sure? I mean it's okay if you don't want to come. I mean… I'll understand."

"Naah it's fine. It sounds like a load of fun. Trust me, I want to go."

Her face split into a smile, showing off her beautiful teeth.

"I don't have to wear a tux though do I?"

MJ burst out laughing at the horrified expression on my face. She then gave an once-over and said,

"No. Though I think you'd look good in one."

I snorted.

"Trust me woman. That's a fight that even Aunt May has lost. I'm a casual kinda guy. For life."

"With that body. You'd probably rock anything."

I smirked, that compliment stroking my ego a lot.

"Keep the praises coming. I don't have a threshold for those."

She rolled her eyes and punched me.

We stayed there in comfortable silence for a while, MJ leaning on my shoulder before we finally decided to go inside.

The next day, I met up with MJ at the theater. We had decided to do so because she thought that having me pick her up would just cause her Aunt to read too deeply into our relationship. Which made me question her about what exactly we were.

Of course I didn't do that right away. I waited until the admittedly good theater show was over and also until we had our meal in a fancy restaurant I'd used my connections to book before saying,

"Hey, I have a question."

She smiled at me, while holding my hand. We were taking a stroll around, having decided to walk instead of taking a cab. She looked at me mischievously from the corner of her eye, as if she knew exactly what I wanted to ask.

"You're wondering what we are, aren't you?"

I opened my mouth to deny but then settled for a nod. She laughed which made me frown. Why are girls so hard to understand?

"Hey, it's a valid question."

She pulled on my hand, stopping on the sidewalk. She took a deep breath and let it out.

"To be honest, you're hot. Like the hottest guy I'm school. So hot infact, that all the other girls didn't approach you because they thought that you had a girlfriend. The fact that you never participated in any extracurricular activities meant that you had other places to be. That sparked a rumor that you were dating a supermodel. That of course wasn't true and I recently decided to start trying out new things..."

I rose an eyebrow. What?

"Okay. The first part is definitely not true and what's that about trying out new things? how does it factor in all this?"

She bit her lips.

" You're... different from the other guys I've had. And every gal likes a little mystery, especially when that mystery is a stud with abs that I can grate cheese on..."

She came close enough that I could feel her breath on my neck. Her hands run over my t-shirt to feel my abs.

"Basically, I want you. Not for a relationship because with that face... you're not really boyfriend material. Too much work trying to fight over you with other girls. But I want you. Bad."

I looked into her eyes and was stunned at how earnest she was.

"Wait. What? How? I thought..."

She brought her finger to my lips and sealed them.

"My Aunt is going somewhere next weekend. I want you to come over...and wreck me."

She whispered that part while breathing heavily. She then turned her back on me and started walking away like she hadn't just flipped my world upside down, leaving me there standing in surprise at how things had turned out.

MJ didn't want a relationship with me...she just wants me to fuck her... she's attracted to my looks not my personality or anything intangible...this is every single guy's dream. Have sex with a hot girl and not having to worry about commitment.

I... didn't know how to feel about that. All I knew is that as I watched her add a sway to her hips while walking...was that I was definitely going to hit that.

(Time Skip)

A few days later after my 'date' with MJ, I was in the training room, molding my ki into different shapes and constructs. It wasn't easy and required a lot of focus. Basic shapes like balls, Rectangles and squares were easy enough. Others like the model of a car, a star or even a katana were harder.

But with every failure, it got just a little bit easier. A little bit less wasteful and efficient.

I pulled my ki back into myself and pondered on the intricacies of flight. There were two ways I could do this. Align my energy to push against gravity and account for aerodynamics was the step by step technical way to go.

However, I had much simpler idea. What if I coated my whole body with ki and just used it to lighten my weight and carry me? Sometimes the answer to a complex question was a simple one.

My control had fortunately gotten to the level where coating my whole body was possible. I spread out my energy and tried to make it thin enough. The first reason was to reduce the consumption of ki and the second was to get rid of the yellow glow of my ki.

I then urged my ki to lift me up. Whoosh!

I found my upper body buried through the roof of the basement. My ki reserves also emptied by a quarter. The sudden drain affected my hold on the energy and I slammed back to the ground with a loud bang.

Laying on the mat, I started laughing in elation. I had done it! Oh my god! For a brief second, I'd felt it. The free movement. Kind of like swimming but without the water slowing you down. Next, I just had to get my control to a good enough level and I'd have the Superman pack down to a T. Or close enough, I still needed to figure out superspeed. Right now my speed was just at Enhanced.

After that, I could start working on teleportation and figuring out dimensional travel. Things were looking good.
